In high school, she was nicknamed "Surfboard" until her feminine figure filled out.

Retired from acting in 1964 after marrying Lance Reventlow, the playboy son of Woolworth heiress, Barbara Hutton, who became a racing driver and entrepreneur of sorts. He perished in a plane crash in 1972. She later married political fund-raiser and Democratic Party advisor, Manning J. Post, in 1994. She was widowed in 2000.

Last name comes from Herbert Holdridge, who adopted Cheryl in 1953 after marrying her mother.

Good friends with fellow ex-mouseketeers, Annette Funicello and Doreen Tracey.
