- She was born in Mexico City and raised in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico.
- She spoke English fluently and played supporting roles in two American productions filmed in Mexico: Los cañones de San Sebastián (1968) and Dos mulas para la hermana Sara (1970).
- Daughter of Fabián "Favy" Furman Jaitzer (1900-?) of Mogilev, Belarus, and Sulamita Epstein Lamdansky (1904-1985) of Visoki-Dvor, Lithuania.
- An acclaimed stage actress, she also translated plays from English to Spanish, directed theatrical productions, and taught acting at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico).
- The part she played in El rapaz (1968) was first offered to María Félix, but producer wasn't willing to pay the high salary Félix demanded. The part was given to Furman; it was her first and only starring role in a movie.
- [referring to her film career] I've played very good roles, but I never got to play leading roles and I myself don't know why.
- [The only starring role I've played] wasn't in a Mexican movie but in a French production shot in Mexico entitled El rapaz (1968).
- There are people who, without being an actor or actress, work in show business, but standing in front of a camera or on a stage and repeating lines does not make you an actor.
