- According to friend Anthony Cardoza, Francis' body was found in the back of a station wagon at the Vine Street Ranch Market.
- One of the trademarks of his style as a director was to feature coffee as a central plot point or a focus of conversation. Also, the plots of his scripts often wander inexplicably, so much so that some critics have suggested that it represents an intentional artistic style.
