Donn Van Tassel Barclay

Aside from being a talented comic/character actor and dialectician, Mr. Barclay was also a creative cartoonist. Recently discovered photos show him drawing caractures of two of "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman's" lead actors: Ms. Ilona Massey and Mr. Lon Chaney Jr; and one visitor to the set of "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman", Mr. Shemp Howard.

Helped Archie Leach (Cary Grant) get his start in America, giving him tips on makeup and what to do on stage and helping him out with food and lodging in some early lean times.

Shemp Howard, working at Universal at the time, visited Don Barclay on the set of "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man" in 1942. Barclay was an accomplished artist and caricaturist. He showed Shemp a portrait he had made of Shemp and they posed for publicity photos with Shemp acting angry at Barclay over the portrait.
