Biografía

Became a noted costume designer for films, mostly for those made by her husband. In 2000, she received an award for her costume design for the film Hey Ram (2000).

Acted in more than 30 films, including films such as Subhash Ghai's Vidhaata (1982), but she gave up acting when she married Kamal Haasan during the peak of her career in the late 1980s.

Has two daughters, Shruti Haasan and Akshara.

Was engaged to actor Karan Kapoor.

Was often cast as the vamp or 'westernized' girl in films from 1980's Bollywood, however she was very unhappy with this 'bad girl' type casting.
