Has a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Forensic Science. Her dream was to become a Crime Scene Investigator but continued with her acting career after she discovered she had a fear of dead bodies.

She is of Native American (specifically Cherokee) and German descent, and is also of Puerto Rican and African American descent.

Cousin of Cherie Johnson known for her roles in Family Matters as Maxine and Punky Brewster.

Has four children: one son, Donnie Jackson (Donovan Antonio Jackson; b. June 23, 1993), and one daughter, Cassie Jackson (Cassalei Monique Jackson; b. September 20, 1994), with ex-boyfriend Corey Jackson; one daughter, Kori Federline (Kori Madison Federline; b. July 31, 2002), and one son, Kaleb Jackson Federline (Kaleb Michael Jackson Federline; b. July 20, 2004), with ex-boyfriend Kevin Federline.
