Delta represented Florida in the Miss America Pageant in 1974.

Has suffered from chronic depression since her teens.

In April 2003, while on the set of a TV pilot Sweet Potato Queens (2003) that was eventually not picked up for the Fall season, some of her jewelry including her wedding and engagement rings were stolen. The jewelry was valued at approximately $74,000. The rings were inscribed with the word "always" and the date of her wedding. The thief was never caught. Police told her that in these cases it was common for thieves to take the diamonds and throw away the bands, so there was little hope of ever recovering her jewelry.

On 2/12/08 she checked into rehab to modify her medications for her depression and diabetes.
