Daughter of tenor Peter Unkel.

Hungarian-born child actress of the late German silent cinema. Subsequently worked in cabaret, radio and in sound films. Also noted for providing the German dubbing voice for fellow child star Shirley Temple, as well as for Nancy Olson, Bridgette Bardot and Micheline Presle.

According to 'private research' in a wikipedia entry, she passed away in Kempten (Allgäu, Bavaria) in 2001.

Unkel started her career as a child star. She made her debut appearance on screen in 1929 as a four-year-old - during the silent film era -, in 'Napoleon at Saint Helena' ( Napoleon auf St. Helena), starring Werner Krauss as Napoleon.

Petra Unkel lived in Kaufbeuren - Bavaria - for many years. Unnoticed by the public and the media, the former actress died in 2001.
