- Jay Stewart was probably best known as the announcer on the long running game show "Let's Make a Deal", in which he appeared throughout the 1960s and 1970s on the original Daytime Let's Make a Deal (1963), the Primetime series, and the syndicated Let's Make a Deal (1971). "Let's Make a Deal" host Monty Hall called Stewart "the best second banana you ever found in your life" and said that "it was a very, very good feeling between us.".
- After graduating Buter University, Stewart landed radio announcing jobs at WBOW in Terre Haute and WLW in Cincinnati. In 1943 Stewart moved to Los Angeles, where he continued his career as a radio announcer.
- Besides his duties on the NBC Daytime game show Sale of the Century (1983), Stewart was tapped to announce Scrabble (1984), another NBC Daytime game show from Reg Grundy Productions. However, Stewart was replaced on "Scrabble" by Charlie Tuna in 1985, the same year the nighttime syndicated version of "Sale of the Century" begin production.
- His final announcing position was on Blackout (1988) shortly after his departure from Sale of the Century (1983), where he filled in for an ill Johnny Gilbert as the show's announcer for its final two weeks.
