Watch Iggy Pop Play ‘Superman’ Song ‘Punkrocker’ Live for First Time
Image
“Superman is the best friend you could have,” Iggy Pop recently said, responding to the prominent use of “Punkrocker,” his 2006 collaboration with Teddybears, in the final scene of Superman — and he proved he meant it Saturday night by playing the formerly obscure track live for the first time ever.

The song, which has exploded on streaming services and gone viral on TikTok since the movie‘s release, concluded Pop’s performance at Portland, Oregon’s Project Pabst Festival. Pop dedicated the performance to Superman, according to a crowd member who posted video.

George R.R. Martin Praises James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ as One of the Best Superhero Movies Ever
Image
James Gunn’s new Superman movie has hit theaters and is already making a big splash worldwide. Critics are loving it, and it’s breaking box office records left and right. This film marks a powerful start for the live-action part of the new DC Universe (Dcu), bringing back what Superman really stands for, hope, strength, emotional depth, and even some laughs.

One notable fan of the movie is George R.R. Martin, the famous author behind the A Song of Ice and Fire books. Martin took to his blog to share his excitement and praise for the film.

He wrote that “It’s been months since Parris and I last went to the movies, but we finally got out of the house last week, and bopped down to the Violet Crown to catch Superman. I’m glad we did. Supes and I are old friends, and this is one of...

George R.R. Martin Reveals Who’s The Better Superman Between David Corenswet and Henry Cavill
Image
George R.R. Martin has weighed in on the Superman debate in his recent blog post (via Not a Blog), calling David Corenswet‘s iteration one, if not the best, version of the character to grace the silver screen. Having read hundreds of comic books himself, Martin has been vocal about his admiration for Superman, and according to the revered novelist, Corenswet takes the cake in terms of being the most comic-book-accurate Superman.

Supes and I are old friends, and this is one of the best Superman movies in a long time… maybe ever. This new Superman reminds me of the version I used to read about when I was a kid.

Although a certain faction hasn’t been too thrilled about Corenswet’s Clark Kent, Martin was unwavering with his praise for the James Gunn movie.

'Top Gun' and 'South Park' Get Overtaken by Adam Woodward's Forgotten Action-Thriller on Streaming
Image
Man With No Pastis a straight-to-streaming thriller that stars Adam Woodward, Jon Voight, and Marton Csokas. It was originally released in January 2025 and didn’t get much attention at the time. But now, completely out of nowhere, it has surged to the top of the Paramount+ charts. It’s currently the #1 movie in 18 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. Even more surprising, it’s beating major titles like Top Gun: Maverick, Gladiator II, and South Park.

This rise is especially surprising given the timing. Director Joseph Kosinski’s new film, F1,just hit theaters and has been getting plenty of critical acclaim. Naturally, this has led to a spike in Top Gun: Maverick rewatch value on Paramount+. But instead of Kosinski’s legacy sequel taking the top spot, Man With No Past has somehow overtaken it. The film is directed by James Bamford, who’s previously directed episodes of Supergirl,...

Ultraman In Superman Movie Explained: Will He Return In The Future?
Image
As much as Lex insists on how his brains dominate over Superman’s brawn, he still needs metahuman stooges to take on the Man of Steel, and that’s where Engineer and Ultraman come in. While Engineer’s presence is intended to set up the Authority movie later on, it’s the dark costume-clad Ultraman who has become the talk of town ever since Superman got released. How the character is introduced to the narrative and the revelation of his identity, coupled with the future possibilities, leaves much scope for discussion and speculation.

Spoilers Ahead

Ultraman’s Introduction Is a Nod to “The Boys”

Garth Ennis’ The Boys, the edgiest deconstruction of the superhero genre, has gained huge popularity thanks to Amazon Prime’s TV series adaptation of the comic series. In a time where people fanboy over characters like Homelander, the psychotic murderous rip-off of Superman, it was certainly...

Elizabeth Tulloch talks Superman and Lois, Krypto and Milk-Bone Superman screening
Image
The world is talking about Superman and Lois Lane once again as James Gunn's Superman movie arrives in theaters. It's the duo's first time on the big screen in nearly a decade, so anticipation has been high for the first film in DC Studios' long-awaited DC Universe. That said, the legendary duo have been thrilling audiences for years on the small screen in The CW's Superman and Lois, which just wrapped its four-season run last year.

Starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the titular pair, Superman and Lois received a lot of praise throughout its run for highlighting the importance of the duo's partnership, and spotlighting their lives as parents as well as superheroes. Although underappreciated early on in its run, its now widely regarded as one of the best portrayals of their story. And it's all deserved, for the Arrowverse-adjacent series is truly something special.

James Gunn’s Superman Soars with Heart, Hope, and Heroics
In a cinematic landscape filled with grit, gloom, and brooding antiheroes, James Gunn swoops in like a ray of Kryptonian sunshine with Superman—a bold, heartfelt, and wholly refreshing take on the Man of Steel that reminds us why we fell in love with superheroes in the first place.

From the moment the opening credits roll, it’s clear Gunn isn’t just rebooting Superman—he’s recharging him. The film strikes a perfect balance between awe-inspiring spectacle and deeply human storytelling, delivering a Superman who feels both larger-than-life and entirely relatable. It’s a love letter to truth, justice, and (yes) a brighter tomorrow.

At the heart of it all is David Corenswet, who dons the iconic red and blue with sincerity, strength, and just the right dash of charm. He’s not trying to out-brood previous versions or reinvent the cape—he simply is Superman. With piercing idealism and grounded humility,...

Superman Actors Ranked: Which Actors Were the Best At Playing The Man of Steel?
Image
With the release of James Gunn’s Superman (check out Both of our Reviews), it’s time to look back at all of the actors who have played Superman over the years. It can be difficult to portray the power of Supes while still maintaining Clark’s vulnerability. We had to make some cuts (there are a ton of people who have voiced the Man of Steel), but we tried our best to represent the major ones from film and television. So let’s break down all of the performances and see where they rank as the best Superman portrayals.

And don’t forget to leave Your ranking in the comments below!

8. Dean Cain – Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

Former Superman Actor Comments on Fans’ Deep Connection to the Man of Steel: “We’re All Clark Kent” [Exclusive]
Image
The new Superman movie is now playing in theaters everywhere, but a Superman star from another project just shed some light on why he thinks the character has been such a success. It’s no secret that Superman is easily one of the most recognizable comic book figures ever — the Kryptonian stands alone at the top with other titans like Spider-Man and Batman, three wildly different characters. One of the things that makes Superman — and Spider-Man, for that matter — so relatable is his humanity. Although he’s an alien from another planet who can stop a speeding bullet and lift an entire building, Superman is still a human who has experienced the same challenges the rest of us.

Collider’s Maggie Lovitt recently moderated a panel at FanExpo Denver for several former Superman actors, including George Newbern, Tim Daly, Brandon Routh, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, and Tyler Hoechlin. During this panel,...

‘Strength’ 30-Second Superman Spot Focuses on His True Power
Image
Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release a new Superman movie on July 11, 2025. This film is directed and written by James Gunn and represents a fresh start for the Superman story as part of the new DC Universe. David Corenswet takes on the role of Clark Kent/Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult is cast as the villain Lex Luthor.

A recent teaser, titled “Strength,” highlights Superman’s greatest power, his humanity. This approach gives the film a unique angle compared to earlier versions. The story focuses on Superman trying to balance his alien roots with the life he has with his human family in Smallville, Kansas. James Gunn mentioned that Clark is “madly in love” with Lois and is also dealing with new friendships among other superheroes who think he is naive.

I Can’t Believe Henry Cavill’s Flop Film Fought Its Way Into Paramount+’s Top 10
Image
Henry Cavill has always been one of the hottest names in Hollywood after sending waves across the entertainment industry with his role in The Tudors. Since then he has gone on to play roles like Superman, Sherlock Holmes, August Walker, and so many more. Needless to say, he has built his career as one of the most complete actors working in front of the camera.

The past couple of years for the actor have been pretty tumultuous, where he was forced to step down from the roles of the Man of Tomorrow from James Gunn’s Dceu and Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher. However, that has not affected his stardom, and he gets the same amount of love from fans.

These are not empty words because the Argylle actor’s one-flop film has managed to find itself in Paramount+’s Top 10.

The Summer of Superman is what the world needs now
Image
Superman is one of the most argued-about characters in comic book fiction. From “Umm actually, in Injustice…” to “Goku would go Super Saiyan and then…” and also “He is bland. He has too many powers!” which leads to the biggest misconception: “Superman is boring.”

Wrong. That is the simplest way to put it.

To go further, we need to understand why we are getting a new take on Superman this summer with James Gunn's upcoming movie.

Superman has been misrepresented in all the types of media for a few decades now.

It's time to remember who Superman really is

We have had the darker take of Superman's story on the big screen with Man of Steel by Zack Snyder, where Superman snaps Zod's neck to save civilians. Many discussions have happened since then about this take and the DC Extended Universe. The Dceu is no longer around, having suffered numerous box-office failures.

Animated 'Smallville' Sequel Show With Tom Welling & Michael Rosenbaum Not Happening Yet
Image
Fans hoping to see the long-awaited return ofSmallville might be waiting a little longer than they hoped. In 2021, it was announced that Smallville stars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum, who played Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, respectively, were looking to do a Smallville continuation in the form of an animated series. While the duo did pitch the series to Warner Bros. in January 2022, there has been no word on it since. The latest update will be disappointing for fans of the early 2000s superhero series.

On the latest episode of Welling and Rosenbaum's Talk Ville Podcast, the duo were joined by Smallville's co-creator Al Gough, who weighed in on what is holding up the Smallville continuation. It seems the answer is what everyone would expect: James Gunn's Superman. The focus for Warner Bros. and DC is on the new Superman movie, and any other Superman-related projects are of secondary concern at the moment.

Katie Cassidy’s self-described workplace motto — “Happy to be here, easy to work with!” — was nearly tested when she got the official word in October 2015 that she was being let go from The CW’s Arrow, four seasons in.

The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10, "It Went By So Fast," now available on the CW app.

When Season 4 of Superman & Lois was announced as the series closer, many were intrigued how the cast would be handled. There were budget cuts, a truncated episode count to 10, and regulars now placed as guest roles. Thankfully, the show stuck the landing.

It gave the likes of Doomsday more screen time, while still allowing new faces like Douglas Smith's Jimmy Olsen an entry point. By the time Doomsday fell, and the show ended, Superman had the team he needed to chart a future. Unfortunately, the most obvious member that many expected to appear got omitted: Melissa Benoist's Supergirl.

10 Biggest DC Movie & Show Deaths In 2024
Image
Warning! This article contains spoilers for all of DC's 2024 releases.2024 has been quite a deadly year for the DC Universe, with plenty of movies and TV shows being released with a high body count. Compared to years past, which saw frequent releases of Dceu movies, 2024 constituted something of a gap year for DC's live-action projects, with Batman villain solo stories like Joker: Folie Á Deux and The Penguin eating the lion's share of the notoriety. Both of these projects presented audiences with some shocking moments, including deaths carrying huge implications for their respective continuities.

2024 also saw DC release a number of high-profile animated projects, from the start of the Dcu with Creature Commandos to the finale of the animated Tomorrowverse series with the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy. These animated shows and films were arguably even more audacious with character deaths, rounding out the year for the company.

Seriously, After Superman & Lois, If People Keep Using The Laziest Superhero Insult In 2025 I'm Going To Go Feral
Image
Superman & Lois ended recently, bringing a shining chapter of superhero television on The CW to a resounding close, and standing counter to a number of complaints I've heard over the years about them and their DC Universe. While Superman & Lois closed after the cancelation of the Arrowverse, the series shared much of its DNA with the popular television universe. Tyler Hoechlin's Superman first appeared in Supergirl before returning for various appearances in some of the show's enormous team-up events.

Doing superheroes on the small screen is a complex beast, and some of the best DC live-action series have not received as much acclaim as they deserve. While HBO has built a name for itself, and excellent shows like The Penguin are seen as prestigious for their links to the cinematic The Batman universe, other series have been viewed less favorably. The CW specifically has created so many incredible superhero television shows,...

James Gunn's Superman Trailer Has A Secret Cameo From A Key DC Comics Villain
Image
Look up! It's not a bird or a plane, but a brand-new "Superman" trailer absolutely jam-packed with details and Easter eggs that fans will be spending the rest of 2024 (and beyond) obsessing over. Make no mistake, the footage still managed to strike a fresh tone that establishes our main trio of David Corenswet's Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult's downright James Bondian Lex Luthor. But there's no way to miss the implication that this movie seems to be a true ensemble piece, with the appearance of several major and minor DC heroes proving that James Gunn is clearly setting up his larger DC Universe.

While that includes all the obvious side characters who may or may not end up in this new Justice League sometime down the line, one significant name was almost completely absent from the teaser: Angela Spica/The Engineer, played by María Gabriela de Faría.

Fringe's Spiritual Successor Premiered In 10 Years Ago And Became One Of The Best Sci-Fi Shows Of All Time
Image
Although Fringe's viewership ratings dwindled with almost every season, it remains a popular, critically acclaimed science fiction show that will always be difficult to replace. Still, some might be surprised that one CW series comes pretty close. The Fox sci-fi TV show created by J.J. Fringe has a 90 percent score on the Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes and an 80 percent average on the Popcornmeter (formerly known as the Audience Score).

Superman's First Two Appearances In The Dcu Show Him Defeated And Now I'm More Excited For James Gunn's Superhero
Image
The first trailer for James Gunn's Superman movie establishes a surprising trend for the hero, and it makes me more excited about his future in the new DC Universe. Excitement has been high for the next Superman film since James Gunn was announced to direct the project. As a fan of his Guardians of the Galaxy films, I have always thought that Gunn's Superman movie would turn out great. After a long time with no announcements, we now have the first trailer for the Dcu's Superman, and it is perfect.

2 Ex Superman Have Already Approved David Corenswet Replacing Henry Cavill

After 3 Years, I’m Eternally Grateful Superman & Lois Never Used The 1 Story I Worried It Would
Image
With Superman & Lois having concluded after 4 seasons and 3 years, I'm more glad than ever that the DC series never delved into a notorious and prolific story trope despite how common it is both inside and outside of the superhero genre. Over the course of its 53 episode long run, Superman & Lois hit on many classic moments audiences have come to expect from superhero releases. The live-action Superman show adapted famous comic storylines, featured huge villain debuts, and included at least one or two dramatic monologues for good measure.

However, what the show avoided is also equally interesting. While the installment delved deep into some superhero tropes, it also totally dodged some others that might have externally seemed all too common to ignore. From a series that also wasn't afraid to delve into relatively untrod territory - with Superman & Lois season 4, episode 10 killing off both Superman and Lois permanently in its...

Creature Commandos Continues a Disturbing DC Trend James Gunn Has to Break
Image
Quick Links How Marvel Studios Made the MCU the Biggest Franchise in Cinema The Dceu Wasn't Much Tamer Than Gunn's R-Rated Fare Robert Pattinson's Batman Isn't for Kids, Either The Future Dcu Can Only Hope to Stand on the Arrowverse's Shoulders

The following contains spoilers for Creature Commandos, Episode 03 "Cheers to the Tin Man," now streaming on Max.

The new DC Universe creatively led by writer and director James Gunn began with his third project for the overall storytelling universe. Gunn's first film was the R-rated The Suicide Squad, which inspired the TV-ma live-action series Peacemaker. His animated series for adults Creature Commandos continues a troubling trend the Dcu will need to break if it hopes to break through in pop culture. Adults shouldn't be the targeted audience.

In fairness to DC Studios, Gunn said Superman would be "family friendly," and that it serves as the actual kickoff to the new Dcu.

Superman & Lois' Best Season 4 Characters, Ranked
Image
The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10, "It Went By So Fast," now available on The CW app.

Throughout Superman & Lois Season 4, the show defied expectations. Many fans thought there might be inconsistencies and creative troughs due to the shortened season and budget cuts. However, there were mostly troughs.

A lot has to do with the stellar cast, the direction and how nuanced the characters were. It doesn't matter if it was a hero or a villain, the material was always substantial. With that in mind, here is a comprehensive dive into the best characters in the final season and how their motivations and actions allowed them to resonate.

Newly Concluded Dcu TV Show Leaves Perfect Room For An Animated Spinoff

Quick Links DC Can Continue Maxing Out Superman's Potential Where Can a Superman & Lois Spinoff Go?

The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10, "It Went By So Fast," now available on The CW app.

With Superman & Lois now concluded, it's definitely a heartbreaking time for fans of the Arrowverse. While the series did act as a standalone, it had a few elements and themes from when Tyler Hoechlin's Clark Kent flew around as Superman in other shows like Supergirl.

However, the Superman & Lois series finale doesn't necessarily have to be the end of it all. With Max doing cartoons such as Creature Commandos, and other non-dcu-continuity shows like Young Justice and Harley Quinn existing, an animated spinoff of the hit Superman series could wrap up loose ends, and extend the future of both the Kents, other heroes and new villains.

Superman & Lois' Best Season 4 Episodes, Ranked
Image
The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10, "It Went By So Fast," now available on the CW app.

As Superman & Lois' four seasons unfolded, fans were treated to a bevy of magical moments. Tyler Hoechlin's Clark Kent didn't just shine as the Man of Steel. Lois Lane, the Super Sons Jon and Jordan, and ancillary characters like Steel (Wolé Parks) and Lana Lang proved how important they were to Smallville.

That's why it was bitter seeing the show end, even on a high note. Season 4 really brought Superman's humanity to light, and showed the strength of his inner-circle. With that in mind, here is how the episodes rank.

This opener had Doomsday and Superman finishing their battle. It shifted from the moon to Smallville in the most explosive manner. The CGI was well-done, erasing...

“Superman’s boring”: Tyler Hoechlin Feels Haters Do Not Realize How Hard It Is to be Superman, Something That Henry Cavill Showed Brilliantly
Image
Tyler Hoechlin has the perfect response to critics who find Superman’s morally pure nature a boring aspect. Over the years, viewers have warmed up to the image of morally ambiguous heroes. The latest trends show that fans often rally behind the villain, just because they find the complex character building more interesting. However, Hoechlin tells fans why playing the ‘Boy Scout’ image of Superman is equally interesting.

While Superman & Lois and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel have fewer things in common, Henry Cavill’s iteration too showed how difficult it was for Superman to make the morally pure choice. While many critics bash the movie for the director’s choice to make Superman kill General Zod, it wasn’t an easy decision to make for Cavill’s character. This supports Hoechlin’s point that being Superman doesn’t come easy.

Melissa Benoist's Supergirl Gets The Superman & Lois Series Finale Cameo She Deserved In Arrowverse Scene Edit
Image
One of the crucial moments in the Superman & Lois series finale sees Melissa Benoist's Supergirl come back in a clever DC edit. After 23 years, the DC era on The CW has come to an end, as Superman & Lois season 4, episode 10 marked the final show in the overarching Arrowverse franchise. While the final episode of Superman & Lois brought a lot of things full circle, many fans would have loved to see an Arrowverse cameo or two, especially from the Super Family.

Graphic designer and YouTube editor Julian Bell shared a special edit on his Instagram of the big moment in the Superman & Lois series finale, where Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel is seen flying with both Superboys, Steel, and Starlight during the flash-forward. However, in Bell's version, Benoist's version of the Girl of Steel is also edited into the shot, allowing her to have the Arrowverse...

4 TV shows that will probably be cancelled in 2025
Image
Well 2024 really has been quite the year for television. It was a big one in general but, with a number of movies delayed until 2025, it was generally television's moment to shine. And, as we have seen throughout many years before, television knows how to shine.

This was the year that brought with it the return of juggernauts like House of the Dragon, Heartstopper, Squid Game, Outer Banks, and more, ensuring that the internet was always abuzz with some major developments. The same could be said for HBO's The Penguin, a thrilling new chapter of Matt Reeves' The Batman Epic Crime Saga that captivated audiences for its eight-episode run.

Marvel Studios also got back in the game this year, with a promising start with its first ever binge-style series Echo before it then caught everyone's attention with the critically-acclaimed X-Men '97 - the long-awaited sequel series and revival of X-Men: The Animated Series.

Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman & Lois Spinoff Comments Mean I’m Desperately Hoping 1 Star’s Sequel Pitch Can Come True
Image
Tyler Hoechlin's comments about a Superman & Lois spinoff have raised my hopes that a sequel series could be on the cards down the line, despite the DC show coming to an end sooner than previously planned. The Superman & Lois season 4 ending provided an emotional conclusion to a stellar take on the Man of Steel, combining an iconic comic story with new heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. Though it's entirely possible this is the last we'll see of these specific versions of the characters, I can't help but hold out hope for more.

While there have been many live-action Superman shows in the time since the character first appeared in comic pages, Superman & Lois still felt like something special, with its focus on Clark as a person who simply happened to be capable of superhuman feats bringing a real relatability and warmth to the series that makes the idea of a follow-up so promising.

Superman & Lois Ended A 23-Year Era Of DC Shows Just Like It Started & It Was Perfect
Image
Superman & Lois has put an end to the best era of DC TV shows, and it did so in a perfect, full-circle way. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch debuted as Superman and Lois Lane in the Arrowverse. The actors' first time as the iconic DC characters was in The Flash for Tulloch and Supergirl for Hoechlin. The duo would go on to appear throughout the Arrowverse's many series for multiple years, with Superman and Lois playing a role in a couple of massive crossovers.

While Superman & Lois retconned their Arrowverse roles by setting the show on a different Earth, Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch mostly continued to play their characters as they were in the Arrowverse. The Superman series then proved itself very successful, with a nice balance between dramatic moments, heartwarming conversations, and gripping superhero action. After four seasons, Superman & Lois' series finale ended the show with its most emotional hour yet.

Superman & Lois: Tyler Hoechlin Maybe the Strongest Man of Steel Beating Henry Cavill After What He Did With Kryptonite
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers on Superman & Lois Season 4

One of the many traits that separates DC from Marvel is the need to mask their superheroes’ real identity from the world. Their heroes don’t get into streetfights in their civvies like the Cap did with the Winter Soldier back in 2014. But for the first time in 76 years since Superman’s live-action debut, Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent did the unthinkable in Superman & Lois finale.

The celebrated CW series ended with the most emotionally vulnerable arc inspired by the comic storyline in The Death of Superman. After collapsing in the middle of Smallville’s Main Street, the truth about Clark Kent begins to unravel. It becomes potentially impossible to escape the inevitable truth.

After a little plotting on Lex Luthor’s end, Clark faces a moment of reckoning that culminates in the most beautiful slow-motion...

The end of Superhero TV on broadcast may usher in an era that leaves a generation behind
Image
As a fan of superheroes, I've been lamenting the sunset of comics adaptations on network television. With the end of Superman & Lois behind us, Superhero TV now belongs to streaming--and in a small way cable--closing a beloved chapter of pop culture history. I admit, it's a sad feeling, not a bittersweet one, that I've been working through.

There was something special about being able to watch Marvel and DC characters from week-to-week on channels easily accessible by as little as an antennae if you couldn't afford cable. Be it animation, or live-action adaptations, I've watched superheroes grow into their powers, fight crime, and learn about the world and their place in it on broadcast for nearly my whole life.

But in this changing era of TV, streaming has increasingly taken over the medium and audiences have begun to expect (and even crave) adaptations that are grittier, more expensive to make,...

Superman & Lois Season 4's Finale Confirms Which Man of Steel Has the Perfect Adaptation
Image
Quick Links Superman & Lois Created a Vulnerable Man of Steel Superman & Lois Gave Its Clark Kent Profound Mental Hurdles Superman & Lois Made Kal-El a Proactive Team Player Superman & Lois' Clark Understood the Nuance of Forgiveness

The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10, "It Went By So Fast," now available on the CW app.

Over the decades, it's become quite clear how divisive Superman is to adapt. Fans adored Tom Welling's Clark Kent in Smallville, while Christopher Reeve is held as the gold standard. Brandon Routh in Superman Returns was seen as Reeve-lite, while Henry Cavill's Man of Steel fell short due to poor writing in the Dceu.

This track record has fans curious if David Corenswet's new Superman can live up to expectations. But thanks to Superman & Lois, the bar has been raised even higher, and it's all due to Season 4 affirming that its version...

DC Just Flipped 2 Major Man Of Steel Scenes In The Perfect Way 11 Years Later
Image
Superman & Lois just provided two major Man of Steel moments with huge parallels, 11 years after the latter was first released. Interestingly, Superman & Lois season 4's story runs parallel with that of Henry Cavill's Superman from the Dceu movie timeline in many ways. From the inclusion of Doomsday to the adaptation of DC Comics' Death of Superman arc, the two are somewhat interlinked. By the time of Superman & Lois season 4's ending, however, the show had done more than enough to solidify itself as its own compelling, emotional journey.

The finale focused on Superman, Lois, and their family as they faced off one final time against Lex Luthor and Doomsday. This arc gave Superman & Lois' ensemble cast a great send-off, allowing for both a fantastic story in its own right and several DC Easter eggs. Rather than having some of these Easter eggs be tied to James Gunn's upcoming Superman film,...

Superman & Lois' Series Finale Kills Doomsday In the Most Heartbreaking Way

Quick Links DC's Doomsday Was Always Kept a Soulless Killing Machine Superman & Lois' Series Finale Has Doomsday Ending His Own Life

The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10, "It Went By So Fast," now available on the CW app. This article contains discussion of suicide.

When fans saw Superman & Lois turn Bizarro into Doomsday, they were skeptical at first. They wondered if it would be mishandled the way Zack Snyder's Doomsday was after being made from the DNA of General Zod. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. Doomsday was layered with humanity like never before.

However, that didn't change one fact: Michael Cudlitz's Lex Luthor kept finding ways to unleash him as a hound of war. Despite the sympathy that viewers had for the tragic Doomsday, viewers knew he had to die. It comes in the series finale, but it's handled in the best possible way, evoking a lot of emotion,...

Superman & Lois Behind-The-Scenes Photo Reveals Cut Steel Costume For John Henry Irons
Image
The last remaining Arrowverse-adjacent DC show, "Superman & Lois," wrapped up last week with a poignant series finale that sped through decades of Clark Kent and Lois Lane's life together. The show's final season wrapped up plenty of loose ends: revealing the fate of Lex Luthor, showing us what happened to Jonathan and Jordan when they grew up, and introducing famous good boy Krypto at the eleventh hour.

The final season didn't exactly tie up all of its storylines in a neat bow, though, in part because of reported budget cuts that reduced the episode count and led to the axing of several cast members. Fortunately, Wolé Parks' engineer and soldier John Henry Irons wasn't one of the characters who had to exit early, and his antagonist-turned-hero was shown teaming up with the Super-family in the finale's future-set epilogue. Still, Irons was apparently impacted by budget cuts as well,...

The Six Triple Eight is a collaboration between Perry and Netflix, a World War II epic starring Kerry Washington that tells the story of the only all-Black female U.S. Army unit to serve overseas during WWII. While known for his comedies, The Six Triple Eight shows that Perry's work spans multiple genres.

10 Best Superman & Lois Characters Ranked After The DC Series' 4 Seasons
Image
Superman & Lois has ended, and after four seasons, the superhero series managed to bring some amazing characters from DC Comics to life, with a few exciting original characters also rising through the ranks. Superman & Lois is easily one of the best live-action DC shows ever, serving as a fitting project to end the era of DC series on The CW that started with Smallville, another Superman project, led to the Arrowverse, and finally ended with Superman & Lois season 4.

Most other live-action Superman actors will have a hard time comparing with Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel, as the actor was simply pitch-perfect as both Clark Kent and Superman, just like the iconic Christopher Reeve. While Hoechlin led Superman & Lois season 4's cast to an explosive finale, Clark was hardly the show's only exciting character in its final season, or all seasons, for that matter. The projects in...

Superman & Lois Series Finale: Wolé Parks Reflects On John Henry Irons' Happy Ending & The Legacy Of Tyler Hoechlin's Clark Kent
Image
Warning: Major Spoilers from the Superman & Lois series finale.Wolé Parks looks back on his legacy as Steel in the Arrowverse and returning for the Superman & Lois series finale in the final season of the DC TV drama. After 12 years of exploring a shared superhero universe on The CW, the Arrowverse franchise has told its final story with Superman & Lois season 4. After four seasons, the Superman & Lois series finale brought Lois Lane and Clark Kent's arc to a close with a shocking conclusion.

Throughout the Superman & Lois series finale, titled "It Went By So Fast," Lex Luthor and the Man of Steel's war kicked into over-gear, following Doomsday's sacrifice. Despite having stolen Steel's war suit, including new medications and upgrades by Milton Fine, it wasn't enough to stop Krypton's last son as Superman finally defeated Lex once and for all. While they dealt with their final threat,...

With the series finale of Superman & Lois, it's not just the ending of this show, but an impressive run of DC Comics' television series that lasted nearly two decades. I'm Devastated We'll Never Get To See Superman & Lois' Unused Season 5 Idea
Image
If things had gone differently in the DC Universe, the recent season 4 of Superman & Lois would not have been the final installment in the series, and I'm devastated the recently revealed ideas for season 5 will seemingly never come to fruition. With a conclusion that centered around a Superman and Doomsday DC rematch, as well as an ultimate confrontation with Lex Luthor, Superman & Lois ended on a high note. With that said, there were still a number of ideas and scenes that were not used and were considered for a season 5 of the live-action Superman show.

There were a number of factors that went into Superman & Lois ending in season 4, one of which had to do with the Dcu's first timeline release. With a brand-new universe launching, DC Studios clearly seems to be looking to differentiate themselves, with as few alternate DC universes as possible under their umbrella at this time.

Why Was DC's Arrowverse Canceled?
Image
The CW's DC adventures began in 2012 with Arrow and ran for over a decade, finally ending the Arrowverse in a spectacular fashion in 2023. While remnants of tangentially-connected stories also came to a close with the recent finale of Superman & Lois, the main Arrowverse timeline was given a proper conclusion previously with a finale to The Flash that tied everything up. Still, given the interest in those series, and in the characters involved, it seems surprising to some that the Arrowverse is officially over. This ending was contributed to by several factors.

While Superman & Lois' cancelation appears more linked to the changing focuses of The CW and the launch of the new Dcu, where different projects will be more aligned between both television and movies, the bulk of the focal Arrowverse and its best shows ended for other reasons. Shows that included Arrow, The Flash, Batwoman, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow,...
