No spoilers here , but I must say , it broke my heart . A most definitely well-crafted indie film with beautiful cinematography and foremost , believable and authentic acting . A relatable narrative that throws one back to times of uncertainty, simple joys and the thrill of the unknown . In these times when lives are documented realities , even the most painful moments are not spared . The stark difference of personalities sometimes felt like they were one person strangely enough , presented as two , lending the film an even more interesting dive into their personas . The struggles and trials of a friendship are explored with a deft directorial hand , allowing we, the viewers into the world of Karl and Albert, exposing raw truths and consequences . Highly recommended!
Great acting from these perfectly cast young actors in a mature script, offering both hope and despair with dialogue that rings so true. The wonderful thing about this film is that it could have gone in so many different directions, and it's a credit to the director that it never seemed formulaic and remained honest throughout. I would like to reveal more here, but now it's your journey to take. Highly recommended.
This was such a good film! Okay, so what do I mean by that right? I really enjoyed the story! If the story sucks... I bounce soon out of the gate. Secondly, the acting was spot on! The actors I thought were believable and held my interest. And lastly but certainly not least... good directing. This film moves along at a good clip. I didn't find myself drifting over to my iPhone to check on messages, etc.! Well done folks! Bravo!!
Firstly, do NOT let the subtitles hold you from watching this movie. It is really well written story of so many of today's emotions and the consequences of those emotions. It plays with many of the questions you will be asking yourself as you watch the film. Enjoyed and recommend.
Well acted but simplistic story about two friends, one who is trying to better himself by working / going to school and staying "on track". He is focused on improving himself in life.
The other friend is the opposite, a lazy freeloader who takes advantage of others, blames everyone else for his failings, survives off hard core drugs and alcohol, plays basketball and video games all day and parties all night (doing and selling heroine, cocaine and mdma molly). Although a "likeable" guy, his only purpose is to party and live off others. He has zero direction and puts forth zero effort to better himself.
Eventually the freeloader friend burns out and burns his bridges. He has no suooort structure left after pushing everyone away (except his one drug source whom he clings to in order to support his shady lifestyle). Even then he blames everyone else for his descent despite repeated failed attempts from his friend and mom to help.
Ultimately this is a story of personal tragedy with zero surprises and an ending you can guess from a mile away.
On the plus side the acting is decent. The actors are totally believable in their situations and artfully convey emotion. Unfortunately each character is also one sided with as much depth as a teacup. Everything said and done is predictable, which is the fault of the screenwriter and producer, not necessarily the actors who mostly just read lines.
The main reason this movie fails, or I should say, is "average", comes down to the storyline itself, which isn't sufficiently deep or complex enough to justify becoming a full length movie.
