predictable & simplistic view of personal failure

Well acted but simplistic story about two friends, one who is trying to better himself by working / going to school and staying "on track". He is focused on improving himself in life.

The other friend is the opposite, a lazy freeloader who takes advantage of others, blames everyone else for his failings, survives off hard core drugs and alcohol, plays basketball and video games all day and parties all night (doing and selling heroine, cocaine and mdma molly). Although a "likeable" guy, his only purpose is to party and live off others. He has zero direction and puts forth zero effort to better himself.

Eventually the freeloader friend burns out and burns his bridges. He has no suooort structure left after pushing everyone away (except his one drug source whom he clings to in order to support his shady lifestyle). Even then he blames everyone else for his descent despite repeated failed attempts from his friend and mom to help.

Ultimately this is a story of personal tragedy with zero surprises and an ending you can guess from a mile away.

On the plus side the acting is decent. The actors are totally believable in their situations and artfully convey emotion. Unfortunately each character is also one sided with as much depth as a teacup. Everything said and done is predictable, which is the fault of the screenwriter and producer, not necessarily the actors who mostly just read lines.

The main reason this movie fails, or I should say, is "average", comes down to the storyline itself, which isn't sufficiently deep or complex enough to justify becoming a full length movie.

I really enjoyed!

This was such a good film! Okay, so what do I mean by that right? I really enjoyed the story! If the story sucks... I bounce soon out of the gate. Secondly, the acting was spot on! The actors I thought were believable and held my interest. And lastly but certainly not least... good directing. This film moves along at a good clip. I didn't find myself drifting over to my iPhone to check on messages, etc.! Well done folks! Bravo!!

Friendship conquers all, almost

Little gem of an indie drama about two friends out to conquer the world and how their relationship and self-quest evolve when the world does not agree to be conquered on their terms. Outstanding performances by the two main actors Jannik Schümann and Nyamandi Adrian, very personable and authentic. Maria Diane Ventura delivers a powerful film that opens a wide range of soul-searching questions. Well-done!

Indie Gem

Great acting from these perfectly cast young actors in a mature script, offering both hope and despair with dialogue that rings so true. The wonderful thing about this film is that it could have gone in so many different directions, and it's a credit to the director that it never seemed formulaic and remained honest throughout. I would like to reveal more here, but now it's your journey to take. Highly recommended.

Great movie and worth a watch

Firstly, do NOT let the subtitles hold you from watching this movie. It is really well written story of so many of today's emotions and the consequences of those emotions. It plays with many of the questions you will be asking yourself as you watch the film. Enjoyed and recommend.

Wow! Amazing movie

This movie is so well written, so well acted, and so well directed, it will leave you wanting more. What starts out as two friends merely hanging out quickly delves into socio-economic and racial themes as they try to make their way in the world. I love how the story refuses to provide simple solutions to complicated issues but really explore what factors cause one to succeed or fail in life. Note, this movie does have subtitles in it, but honestly I was so busy being engaged with the film to notice. Definitely check it out. It will not disappoint.

Great story of friendship and life

A wonderful, very real film, that intelligently explores themes of friendship, immigration, racism and the choices we make in life. Don't let the subtitles throw you. This is a very accessible and emotionally affecting film. It reminded me of some of the great friendships I've had in life, in good times and bad. A really great story that I highly recommend!

Well Crafted Indie Film

Your Color (Deine Farbe) was a really pleasant surprise that I found on Amazon Prime. It's a well-told story, with good acting from its leads, and some pretty location shooting as well. It's no surprise that Your Color has received multiple festival awards. Please don't let subtitles stop you from watching this quality indie film.

This broke my heart .

No spoilers here , but I must say , it broke my heart . A most definitely well-crafted indie film with beautiful cinematography and foremost , believable and authentic acting . A relatable narrative that throws one back to times of uncertainty, simple joys and the thrill of the unknown . In these times when lives are documented realities , even the most painful moments are not spared . The stark difference of personalities sometimes felt like they were one person strangely enough , presented as two , lending the film an even more interesting dive into their personas . The struggles and trials of a friendship are explored with a deft directorial hand , allowing we, the viewers into the world of Karl and Albert, exposing raw truths and consequences . Highly recommended!

Simply amazing!

I simply can not believe this was a first time filmmaker. I am blown away! This film is beautifully told and brilliantly acted. This story ripped my heart out, and I found myself in just a puddle of mush watching it. I have not been that stirred by emotion in a film in a long time. The direction is perfect and I can't wait to see the future unfold for this young director. Get to know her name, cause the future is bright for her.

Life is made up of seconds. Not days, weeks or months. Not even years.

Leave all of your preconcieved notions behind. Don't let the touchy feely trailer fool you. I know it sort of deterred me from watching this masterpiece.

But where this movie really shines is in the character development, illustrating how close the relationship or Karl & Albert are and in demonstrating how our individual choices dictate the trajectory of our lives.

We live in very confusing times. A lot of the traditional institutions we used to rely on for a sense of peace, meaning and purpose are all being dismantled and deconstructed at an accelerating pace.

What are two young & ambitious small town boys with big dreams ought to do? It's been said that Life is unfair. There is no sugarcoating about it. But Deine Farbe let's the viewer ease into this slowly.

Life is tough. And modern society is confusing. Filled with many mind traps. What makes it worse is when the people we've come to rely on, disappoint us, both from our said and unsaid, real or imaginary unmet expectations.

Where I think this movie really deserves its accolades, is how the author made the story so adaptable and easy to watch, so much so that it is so relatable to anybody who has ever felt like they were being judged for things they have no control over versus their character.

It is conscious without being woke. Wise without being preachy. But most of all, entertaining to watch, with a suprise plot twist at the end that will leave you speechless and your jaws hanging. Highly recommended viewing! 10/10 Stars!

Good Indie Movie

I was very surprised by this film. Being an indie production, it has a lot of charm. The performances of the actors are spectacular; you can tell that there is an intentional directorial work.

And the story itself holds a world that captivates anyone who has been adventurous in their youth.

A good investment of time and money. I recommend it.

Very touching movie about two friends chasing dreams in Barcelona

A wonderful movie about the dreams and the hardships of growing up in a worn-out society. A strong drive for adventure, seeking independence from parental chains and the search for magical places and unforgettable moments together it what bonds the two friends Karl and Albert. This movie really shows what growing up means - to fight for your dreams, to take risks and sometimes you might end up in dangerous situations. The movie also makes it clear that we do not have everything under control and empathy its what could save us. It speaks to the heart and is a true indie masterpiece by Maria D. Ventura. Hoping to see more of her soon.

Looks beautiful, feels beautiful.

Your Color (Deine Farbe) is a film about friends. It's a different side of love. It's the love that wants to call you out and make sure that you see your flaws that way you can fix them. And the actors are all about that. They have great chemistry between the two leads including the mother. And this film blew me away. It's got the story that fits the indie film but the production of the studio movies.

Looks beautiful, feels beautiful.

Very impressive indie film.

Good and sad

The beginning of these character story reminded me of when I was a lot younger and when it felt like the world was at your fingertips and the possibilities endless. I've had a friend go down a similar path that Albert found himself on. It's a devastating thing to witness and one that was captured well in this movie. One thing I really like about this movie was its use of home videos, it really packed a punch.

A gem of a film. Beautiful and authentic.

I was absolutely surprised by this gem of a film. I could see why it did well at so many festivals. A story about two friends so beautifully acted with authenticity and depth that it never felt contrived. In less adept hands this film could not have worked. It was so well acted and directed that it felt like I was watching something so private and personal. Two friends who have everything in front of them, love, living, and ultimately the choices they make alter who they will become. I highly recommend this film to all. LOVED IT.
