Writer/Director/Author/Actress Cortina Jackson has appeared in several short films, movies, commercials, a stage play, voice over projects, television series, and a web-series. She is also the author of the fiction thrillers, "On Earth As It Is In Hell," and "The Sounds of Silence Are the Loudest."
Cortina is the writer, director and star in her own short film entitled, "Daddy," based on true events. She wrote and directed the PSA that precedes the movie as well. Cortina is also the contributing writer of the feature film, "Blind Trauma," written by Theo Bray.
Cortina is a motivational speaker and mentor for domestic violence, sexual abuse, and success after tragedy. She is the host of her own podcast heard on Spotify and 6 other platforms entitled, "What's on Cortina Jackson's Mind?"
Cortina has written articles for several magazines; including, I Am Magazine, Office Latté, Spotlight on Recovery, and Secret Society Magazine. She is the winner of the (WOW) Women on Writing contest for submitted article, "Daydreams of a Millionaire." She is also the winner of the Short Story Contest hosted by Brown Girls Publishing's, Reshonda Tate Billingsley and Victoria Christopher Murray.
Cortina appeared in articles for Voyage Dallas, (WOW) Women on Writing, and East County Magazine. Appearances on radio shows include, The Ron Shaw Show, Artist First Radio Network, Cherie Doyen's, "Untangle Your Story," Myra Goldick's "Never Say Impossible," The Author's Lounge, The Carla Palmer Show, "Authors Supporting Authors," with Etienne Gibbs, Fanny Minnitt Show, and many more.
She is honored to be recognized and awarded the Meljourne Woman Award. The campaign focuses on Domestic Violence and women who have experienced the tragedy of domestic violence and "meljourned" (persevered) to experience success. It encourages survivors who follow the campaign to share their life-changing journeys as well.
Cortina has also worked in corrections, criminal justice, and law enforcement for many years. She has often seen that life is scarier than fiction, which is often portrayed in her novels. Cortina's autobiography and a 3rd novel will be available soon.
She holds two Master's Degrees in Safety and Criminal Justice, but would gladly leave all of it behind to write, produce, and act full-time. The proud mother of two young adult sons is still her favorite job.
