Daughter of nature writer Daniel P. Mannix, whose book "The Fox and the Hound" was adapted into the Disney animated feature of the same name, Tod y Toby (1981).

When she was 19-years-old, had given up her baby girl, Kathy Hatfield (who she had named Amy), up for adoption.

Wife of producer Frank von Zerneck; mother of actors Danielle von Zerneck and Francis von Zerneck, and Kathy Hatfield.
