The realm of The Traitors is expanding — in both who gets to play the game and where the show runs.

NBC has picked up a version of the game that will feature civilian players, rather than the reality TV veterans and other celebrities who have populated Peacock’s iteration of The Traitors. Alan Cumming, who hosts the Peacock show, will also lead the NBC version.

Production on the network’s version is set to begin next year; the show is taking applications for potential contestants now. There’s no word yet on an airdate.

Peacock will continue streaming its iteration of The Traitors for at least two more seasons. The show has been renewed through its fifth installment, and season four has announced its cast.

MTV has tapped LL Cool J to host the 2025 VMAs.

The rapper and actor will helm the awards ceremony when it airs live from New York’s Ubs Arena Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8 p.m. Et/5 p.m. Pt. The 2025 show marks the first time the rapper has hosted the VMAs solo, after previously serving as co-emcee in 2022 alongside Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow. The 2025 edition also marks the first time the show airs on CBS.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee is no stranger to the VMAs, with LL Cool J winning his first Moon Person in 1991 for “Best Rap” before becoming the first rapper to receive the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.

Disney Branded Television has given a series greenlight to the supernatural dramady “Coven Academy,” which follows a trio of teenage witches-in-training.

The series is a single-camera project from Tim Federle, the creator of the Emmy-winning “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” starring a young Olivia Rodrigo. “Coven Academy” was ordered to pilot in March. Now, the show will premiere on Disney+ and Disney Channel sometime in 2026.

Love Is Blind: UK is cracking on with a whole new group of eligible singles across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Season 2 of the global dating experiment, which is streaming now, follows 30 men and women on their search for a soulmate solely based on an emotional connection. Over the course of several weeks, the participants will enter the pods in hopes of getting engaged, sight unseen with the help of co-hosts Matt and Emma Willis. After meeting face-to-face, each engaged couple will move in together and navigate the stresses of daily life — from family drama to hectic work schedules and everything in between. At the end of it all, they’ll walk down the aisle and decide if they’re ready to say “I do” within a matter of weeks.

After a successful first date, Love Is Blind: UK is back for another round of the dating experiment, uniting soulmates sight unseen around the world for years now.

In Season 2, which is now available to stream, UK and Ireland-based singles are taking a less conventional approach to modern dating by choosing someone to marry without ever meeting them face to face. After the big reveal, the newly engaged couples will move in together, plan their wedding, and find out if their physical connection is as strong as the emotional bonds they developed in the pods.

Michael Sloan, the television writer and producer who co-created TV series “The Equalizer” with Richard Lindheim, died Wednesday in New York City. He was 78.

Born in New York City in 1946, Sloan was exposed to the entertainment industry from an early age. His grandfather, Fred Stone, was a vaudeville performer known for playing the Scarecrow in the 1902 Broadway production of “The Wizard of Oz.” His parents Paula Stone and Michael Sloane were Broadway stage producers, mounting numerous plays throughout the 1940s and 50s.

His family reported that Ziskie had died from arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Born in Detroit, Ziskie attended the U. of Michigan where he received a B.A. in English. After working as a crewman for a Great Lakes freighter, Ziskie moved to Chicago and joined the Second City Comedy Troupe, where he worked and collaborated with comedians such as John Belushi, Brian Doyle-Murray and Joe Flaherty.
