Not yet, but a streaming release date is imminent. The film hit theaters on Christmas and since it’s a Searchlight Pictures release, it will be streaming on Hulu likely around 90 days after it first opened. Loo Break: The film is pretty tight when it comes to its pacing, and most scenes are important as they are based on events that truly happened.

Watch or Not?: If you are a fan of Bob Dylan or Timothée Chalamet, then this is a must-watch, but don’t expect too much out of this classic biopic.

Per Variety, an assortment of film clips will be played as the nominees in acting categories are introduced, which has not been the case in recent years.

Back in 2021, when the pandemic was in full swing, the Oscars were broadcast with no host, and no film clips before each of the nominees. Instead, at the 2021 ceremony, the presenters gave a few “fun facts” and praise about each nominee in their category, per InsideHook. Based on Elijah Wald’s hour-by-hour countdown Dylan Goes Electric!, James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown is a quirky, engaging and (thankfully) never reverential biopic that tracks the journey of Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet) from acoustic folk to rock amplification. A six-part documentary chronicling the life of Grammy-winner Prince will no longer be moving forward at Netflix. Per Variety, the documentary was set to be directed by Ezra Edelman, the filmmaker behind the 2016 O.J. Simpson documentary, O.J.: Made in America.

A Feb. 13 statement from Netflix confirmed that the Prince documentary is officially canceled at the streamer. “The Prince Estate and Netflix have come to a mutual agreement that will allow the estate to develop and produce a new documentary featuring exclusive content from Prince’s archive. As a result, the Netflix documentary will not be released,” read the statement.

Receiving a single Oscar nomination would be an incredible personal achievement. But the four nominations A Complete Unknown costume designer Arianne Phillips has earned over her career extend “beyond my wildest 8-year-old dreams,” she tells Gold Derby in the final days of this year’s awards campaign.

Her bid this year for Best Costume Design is a full-circle moment. Phillips received her first nomination for James Mangold’s Walk the Line, a character-driven musical biography about Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Now, she’s back in competition at the Oscars for the Bob Dylan film A Complete Unknown, another Magnold feature about a legendary musician. To further add to the symmetry, Johnny Cash is a supporting character.

“This nomination resonates in a way that is similar to probably my first nomination,” Phillips says. “Plus, it was a year of great costumed movies – very vivid costume movies, big costume movies.

“A Complete Unknown,” a musical biopic starring Timothée Chalamet as “Like a Rolling Stone” composer Bob Dylan, has cemented a box office milestone, notching $100 million in global ticket sales.

After seven weeks on the big screen, “A Complete Unknown” has grossed $70 million in North America and $30 million internationally for a grand total of $100 million. The R-rated film ranks as Searchlight’s sixth-highest grossing domestic release of all time and is expected to pass “Sideways” ($71.5 million) to crack the top five in the coming weeks.

James Mangold (“Walk the Line”) directed the movie, which reportedly cost between $60 million to $70 million to produce. Since movie theater owners get to keep roughly half of ticket sales, “A Complete Unknown” likely won’t turn a profit in its theatrical run. But still, it’s no small feat these days for specialty fare to crack the $100 million mark.

Props from “A Complete Unknown” will go on display at the Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie Centers in Tulsa, Okla., as part of a new exhibit, “Stepping Into the Unknown,” opening on Feb. 28. It’s the first exhibit to run concurrently at both centers.

The exhibit, presented in partnership with Searchlight Pictures, will “illuminate the deep bond between the two hugely influential American songwriters.” One of the first scenes in the Timothée Chalamet biopic sees Dylan visiting Guthrie (Scoot McNairy) in the hospital immediately upon his arrival in New York City.

Among the props from the James Mangold-directed film are Guthrie’s harmonica; Dylan’s letter to Guthrie; Johnny Cash’s letters to Dylan; “Blowin’ in the Wind” lyrics handwritten on a cocktail napkin; and a handful of fabricated album covers featuring the actors (like Chalamet and Elle Fanning’s rendition of “Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan”).

Having partnered with such A-list musicians as Madonna for decades, costume designer and self-described visual artist Arianne Phillips is no stranger to the music world. Her latest work on James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, marks Phillips’ fourth Academy Award nomination for best costume design and her sixth collab with Mangold. The two first teamed up for Girl, Interrupted in 1999, while their work on Walk the Line, which focused on Johnny Cash’s life and career, in 2005 is revisited through the Cash-Dylan friendship depicted in A Complete Unknown. For the film, which landed eight Oscar nominations, Phillips and her bicoastal team of 42 created approximately 8,000 costumes, including 67 wardrobe changes for Timothée Chalamet in the starring role.

“So much happens in the first four years of Bob’s career that it was really thrilling, as a costume designer, to guide the audience through his dramatic style evolution,” Phillips tells The Hollywood Reporter.

A Complete Unknown has made a big splash with its many accolades and awards nominations. The Bob Dylan biopic has also managed to pick up some of the biggest recognitions in the film industry with Academy Award nominations in Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay. Now the James Mangold film is set to come home with a 4K Blu-ray release set for April 1. When director James Mangold assembled his sound department for “A Complete Unknown,” it was largely made up of artists with whom he had worked before — re-recording mixers David Giammarco and Paul Massey, supervising sound editor Donald Sylvester, supervising music editor Ted Caplan — but production sound mixer Tod Maitland was new to the team. And while Maitland has plenty of complex musicals on his resume, including “The Greatest Showman” and Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story,” he quickly realized that “A Complete Unknown” was going to be his most challenging music-oriented film yet.
