King of the Hill Season 14 Review: One Of The Best Revivals Ever
Image
Plot: After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.

Review: King of the Hill has been off the air since 2009 and a lot has changed since then. The world is a very different place and so there is always the question of whether or not that the humor would translate into modern era. And I’m happy to say that this new iteration absolutely nails the tone and spirit of what made Koth great. This is my favorite animated series of all time, so I had very high expectations, and they were met in just about every way.

Season 14 follows Hank...

King of the Hill Revival Lands on Hulu After 15-Year Hiatus
Mike Judge in El rey de la colina (1997)
Fifteen years after its broadcast farewell, King of the Hill returned on August 4 with ten brand-new episodes streaming exclusively on Hulu in the United States and via the Hulu hub on Disney+ overseas, marking the show’s first season produced for a purely digital platform.

The revival—shepherded by showrunner Saladin K. Patterson alongside creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels—opens with Hank and Peggy Hill stepping off a decade-long propane assignment in Saudi Arabia to discover an Arlen transformed by smartphones, ride-share apps and boutique boba cafés.

Bobby is now a twentysomething chef running a German-Japanese fusion spot in Dallas, while alley companions Dale, Boomhauer and Bill waste no time resuming lawn-chair philosophising—reminding audiences why the original series became a comfort staple.

Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Root and Lauren Tom reprise their roles, and recordings left by the late Johnny Hardwick allow Dale Gribble to feature...

‘King of the Hill’ Cast and Crew Tease That Time-Jump – and Which Character Is ‘Not Extreme Anymore’
Image
It’s been 15 years since fans were last blessed with a new episode of “King of the Hill” — but time has kept on trucking for the good people of Arlen, Texas, the same as it has in real life.

Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ animated sitcom returned with Season 14 on Monday, complete with a time jump that sees Peggy and Hank Hill returning from a propane job in Saudi Arabia to find Bobby as a 20-something chef in Dallas. Ahead of the premiere, showrunner Saladin K. Patterson and voice actors Stephen Root, Toby Huss and Lauren Tom opened up to TheWrap about why 2025 is the right time to bring the beloved series back.

“I think people really need it. I think it’s just perfect timing, because the world is so crazy right now,” Tom said. “I’ve heard from many fans that we are a bit of a comfort show for them,...

The Chilling Tale of ‘King of the Hill’ Actor Who Was Shot Dead
Image
The murder of Jonathan Joss, who was famously known for his role in the American animated sitcom, King of the Hill, shook each one of us to the core. He was shot dead on 1st June, 2025, in the city of San Antonio, following a scuffle between his neighbour, which had been going on for quite a while. The actor died on the spot due to three gunshots that Joss had taken.

Behind the voice of the famous character lies a person’s story that is layered, one that ended too soon in a chilling turn of events. The actor was not only known for his role as John Redcorn, but also appeared in hit shows like Parks and Recreation and Walker, Texas Ranger, often representing Native American characters with depth and dignity. Though his end was tragic and appalling, Jonathan Joss’s life had always been filled with highs and lows.

This ‘King of the Hill’ Star’s Killing Made Headlines. He Was So Much More
Image
In the video, a man putters up and down the street carrying a pitchfork, shouting at his neighbors and at no one, punctuated by the occasional obscenity. He isn’t happy that the neighbors are filming. “You guys are taping me? For what?” he asks. “I’m walking down the street! I’m rehearsing! I make movies, man! I’m rehearsing a scene.” During the four-minute, 30-second clip, later shared with local TV news stations in San Antonio, the man mentions police visits to the neighborhood, which had been frequent.

King of the Hill Season 14 Review — The Glorious Return of Texas’s First Family
Image
While the reboot idea for ’90s and 2000s pop culture is already played out, there are some exceptions that come back as if they never went away. King of the Hill decided against coming back exactly as it was, allowing the series to age as if he had been away for nine years. The result is a more mature show that digs into the world as it is in 2025, while also exploring new dynamics between the Hills and their Arlen neighbors. While some shows have found a rocky reception upon their return, King of the Hill feels fresh and insightful in ways only this series ever could.

King of the Hill Season 14 Plot

Real Reason Why ‘King of the Hill’ Is Returning With New Season after 16 Years
Image
Our favorite satire comedy, King of the Hill, is all set to return on Hulu after 16 years in a revival we never expected. With the changing streaming landscape, the channel thought it would be a great idea to pick up King of the Hill, right where it left off, and serve viewers with season 14 on August 4, 2025.

Hank and Peggy Hill will be seen returning to their homeland, Arlen, Texas, after spending years abroad. With most of its original cast intact, the show will explore updated cultural references, woven with timeless themes giving equal parts nostalgia and relevance, and we can’t wait to watch it.

King of the Hill Returns on Hulu: Breathing New Life Into a Cult Classic

King of the Hill returns in a time when streaming platforms are leaning heavily into the nostalgia trope. However, the reason for its comeback is a lot deeper than just fan demand.

How a ‘King of the Hill’ Revival Brings Hank, Bobby, and Dale Into an America Gone Mad
Image
For 13 seasons from 1997 to 2009, Hank Hill, the hero of the classic Fox animated comedy King of the Hill, existed at a precarious middle point of American culture. In some episodes, his fixation on old-fashioned values made him come across as the most repressed, clueless old man in the world. In others, it was clear that many of the things Hank stood for — particularly the importance of hard work, and of treating other people with respect and decency — were being dismissed far too easily by a rapidly-changing culture.

This was all by design.

King of the Hill Showrunner Clarifies Lucky and Luanne's Status in Hulu Revival
Image
King of the Hill fans are heading back to Arlen after 15 years, as the hit animated series has been revived. An all-new season is set to drop on Hulu for a streaming release on Aug. 4, 2025.

Sadly, some members of the King of the Hill family have since passed away. This includes Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty, who respectively voiced Luanne and Lucky. It had been unclear if the characters would be featured in the revival, and fans were wondering if the two might come back with new voice actors in the roles. In a recent interview with IGN to promote the revival, showrunner Saladin Patterson confirmed that Lucky and Luanne weren't recast, as that just wouldn't have felt right.

"The analogy I use as a sports fan is, sometimes the best way to honor someone's work is to hang their jersey up in the rafters as a show of respect...

King of the Hill Returns With 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score: 'Best Revival That Has Ever Been Made'
Image
After 15 years, King of the Hill is back with all-new episodes. A revival of the animated show is debuting on Hulu on Aug. 4, and days ahead of launch, early reviews from critics have declared the new King of the Hill to be a hit.

As of this writing, the revival, which essentially serves as the 14th season of King of the Hill, holds a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Potentially, the number will drop when more reviews come in, but debuting with a rare perfect score is certainly an incredible start. Critics are praising the revival for bringing something new to King of the Hill while maintaining the classic charm of the original show.

"It's the rare revival that is able to age its characters and modernize the world, but still feel like the dang ol' king," as Collider critic Nate Richard put it.

‘King of the Hill’s Toby Huss Reveals How He Plans on Living Up to Johnny Hardwick’s Dale Gribble
Image
We may all be familiar with King of the Hill’s Dale Gribble, but embodying the pocket-sand-throwing, Manitoba-smoking spirit of Arlen’s most famous conspiracy theorist is no easy task.

During the King of the Hill panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, voice actor Toby Huss got candid about the challenge of taking on the late Johnny Hardwick’s iconic role in the show’s upcoming revival, revealing that no one did it quite like his former co-star. “I’m not going to improve on what Johnny did,” Huss explained when asked about his approach to Dale, per IGN. “But I hope he approves of it.”

Ahead of the show’s 14th season, which is set to hit Hulu on August 4th, it was announced that Huss, who voiced several characters, including Cotton Hill and Kahn Souphanousinphone during the show’s original run, would continue the role of Dale...

King of the Hill Showrunner Explains Increased Diversity and Recasting Roles: 'The World Has Changed'
Image
King of the Hill is making a return to the small screen after a 15-year hiatus, but the new episodes will come with a shakeup in the cast. This includes adding more diverse characters in the revival while recasting multiple characters.

These changes were discussed during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Per Entertainment Weekly, the panel was attended by series co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels alongside voice actors Pamela Adlon (Bobby), Lauren Tom (Connie), Toby Huss (Dale), and Kathy Najimy (Peggy). Showrunner Saladin K. Patterson was also present, and he explained how the revival is comparatively more diverse given how times have changed since 2010.

"It was important in the show, the world has changed a little bit since Hank and Peggy have been gone," Patterson noted. "Casting has changed a little bit too since Hank and Peggy have been gone, as far as, actors fit the characters that they're portraying.

‘King of the Hill’ Revival Plans On-Screen Tributes to Late Stars Johnny Hardwick, Jonathan Joss
Image
“King of the Hill” is planning to pay tribute to late cast members Johnny Hardwick and Jonathan Joss via memoriam cards that will run during episodes of the show’s upcoming revival on Hulu. Both Hardwick and Joss appear on Season 14 of the show, having voiced their characters before their deaths.

“King of the Hill’s” executive producers revealed these tributes on Friday during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel. The producers also shared a bit more about how they’re referencing the characters of Luanne and Lucky – voiced by the late Brittany Murphy and rock star Tom Petty – both of whom passed before the recent revival. And they noted the passing this week of musician Chuck Mangione, another “King of the Hill” staple.

The Hardwick tribute (above) had previously been announced during the show’s panel last month at the Atx Television Festival in Austin. During that event,...

‘King of the Hill’ Revival Keeps Up with the Times, for Better and for Worse: TV Review
Image
Animation feels insulated from many of the obstacles that face nostalgia-driven revivals. The actors don’t visibly age, thereby reminding the audience of time’s passage; the characters themselves often exist in a temporal bubble, where Bart Simpson is forever in fourth grade and Bikini Bottom remains on the ocean floor. You can’t go home again, the saying goes, but when Hank and Peggy Hill (Mike Judge and Kathy Najimy) return to Arlen, Texas, it’s easier and less uncanny to follow them there than, say, Dexter Morgan to New York City.

Their namesake sitcom can, for example, lightly fudge its timeline. “King of the Hill,” co-created by Judge and future “The Office” czar Greg Daniels, has been off the air for 15 years. But when the Hills come back from their stint in Saudi Arabia — a country whose name Peggy, forever confident in her nonexistent language skills, cannot pronounce...

Chuck Mangione, Jazz Musician and King of the Hill Fan Favorite, Dies at 84
Image
Famed musician Chuck Mangione, who was also a fan favorite guest star on King of the Hill, has died. He was 84 years old.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mangione died at his home in Rochester, New York, on Tuesday. While an exact cause of death isn't yet known, the musician reportedly died in his sleep. His attorney, Belock Levine & Hoffman Llp's Peter S. Matorin, confirmed Mangione's passing.

Mangione rose to prominence in music as a member of Art Blakley's band in the 60s before forming the Jazz Brothers alongside brother Gap. As he rose in the world of music, he found major success in 1978 with the release of his single "Feels So Good." The song reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release, and the album was nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Mangione's "Give It All You Got" also served as the theme to...

King of the Hill Fans Get a Bummer as 1 Fan Favorite Star Won't Be Appearing in Hulu's Revival
Image
It was reported after the publishing of this story that Chuck Mangione died this week at the age of 84.

Hulu is bringing back King of the Hill with an all-new season, but there are going to be some big changes. Notably, the revival moves the story forward by 15 years, picking up with much older versions of returning characters. Many fan favorites have been confirmed to appear in early teasers and trailers, though one popular guest star from the original is not expected to be involved, at least for now.

In the classic King of the Hill, real-life musician Chuck Mangione appeared semi-regularly as one of the most popular guest stars. Because of this, some fans may wonder if the Hill family will reunite with Mangione in one of the revival's new episodes. However, TVLine quotes a source involved with the new series as stating, "He's not in Season 14, but we'll see what the future brings.

‘King of the Hill’ Announces Guest Stars, Recasting for Upcoming Hulu Revival
Image
Earlier this month, Hulu announced that the upcoming “King of the Hill” revival will see Ronny Chieng take over the recurring guest role of Kahn Souphanousinphone from the show’s original run. The decision meant that the Asian character, previously one of several parts voiced by Toby Huss, would be voiced by an Asian performer for the first time.

Now, IndieWire can exclusively reveal five new guest stars for the show’s long-awaited 14th season, several of which are similar recastings of old recurring characters with actors of color. In addition, Keith David and Anthony “Citric” Campos have joined the series as new characters.

David will play new character Brian Robertson, who rented the house of main character Hank (series co-creator Mike Judge) in between the events of the show’s original seasons and the revival, and integrates into Hank’s friend group. Campos will play Emilio, a chef at...

How King Of The Hill's Revival Continued Production After The Death Of Two Actors Explained By Returning Star
Image
A few of the original cast members of King of the Hill have passed away in recent years, but Stephen Root (Bill Dauterive) explained how the upcoming revival persevered without them. After nearly 16 years, a revival of King of the Hill is nearly out with a premiere date of August 4. Unfortunately, three of the show's original actors - Johnny Hardwick (Dale Gribble), Brittany Murphy (Luanne) and Jonathan Joss (John Redcorn) - passed away before the revival could air.

During an interview with Screen Rant's Grant Hermanns for Resident Alien season 4, Stephen Root spoke about King of the Hill season 14 and the passing of Murphy, Hardwick, and Joss. Root mentioned that though some of the cast members of King of the Hill have passed away, the revival still felt like family affair.

A New Trailer For Hulu's King Of The Hill Revival Reveals That Arlen Has Changed But Hank Is Still The Same

King of the Hill Revival Recasts Another Fan-Favorite Character From Original Series
Image
The new King of the Hill is coming to Hulu this summer, picking up 15 years after fans last saw the Hill family. Several stars from the original show are back on board to reprise their roles, though some characters will be having new actors voicing them.

Per Variety, comedian Ronny Chieng, best known for serving as a correspondent for The Daily Show on Comedy Central, has joined the King of the Hill revival. He is voicing the role of Kahn Souphanousinphone, serving as a recurring guest star. Toby Huss originally voiced Kahn in the original King of the Hill, but it was expected that the character would be recast for the revival, given the increased scrutiny in recent years over white actors portraying non-white characters in movies and TV shows.

Huss is still involved with the revival, however. After the death of Dale Gribble's voice actor, Johnny Hardwick, it was...

Hulu's 'King of the Hill' Revival Trailer Offers First Look at Season 14
Image
Hulu has released a trailer for its upcoming King of the Hillrevival series, giving fans their best look yet at the long-awaited Season 14. The sneak peek proves that a lot has changed in the last 15 years, but Hank Hill is still stuck in the past as he struggles to embrace the convenience of modern living and pretty much everything else that has altered around him. The recent retiree returns to Arlen, Texas, where he is forced to navigate Zoom calls, gender-neutral bathrooms, ride-hailing services, veganism, fake sports, and worst of all... fruity beer.

Hank would like to think it's his world and everyone else is just living in it, but unfortunately for him, those living in it have moved with the times while he is still stuck in his ways. Even his now-adult son Bobby, who has made a career for himself as an accomplished chef working at a fusion restaurant in Dallas,...

Chris Pratt & Denzel Washington's 9-Year-Old Remake of 1 of the Greatest Westerns Ever Made Is Climbing the Streaming Charts
Image
Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt have had a series of successful projects each, but their joint Western wasn't a big success. The action-packed Western The Magnificent Seven was a remake of the 65-year-old Western of the same name, and it didn't achieve the same acclaim as the original.

The Magnificent Seven premiered on Sept. 8, 2016, and it came from Washington's frequent collaborator, Antoine Fuqua, with whom he worked on The Equalizer trilogy and 2001's Training Day. Although The Magnificent Seven featured the two big movie stars and had critically acclaimed director attached to the project, the Western didn't impress. However, The Magnificent Seven is finding a new life on streaming, as it's currently rising on the charts on MGM+, per FlixPatrol.

The Magnificent Seven has been fluctuating in the charts on MGM+. The Western has recently risen three positions up to seventh place after spending the last few days in ninth and tenth place,...

Jack McBrayer Makes ‘King of the Hill’ Debut in Latest Revival Preview Clip
Image
During its original run on Fox, King of the Hill provided opportunities for performers from all over the Southern U.S. states: Beth Grant (Alabama); Trace Adkins (Louisiana); Diedrich Bader (Virginia); Mary Kay Place (Oklahoma); Stephen Root and Tom Petty (Florida); Johnny Knoxville and Lane Smith (Tennessee), and of course the contingent from Texas, including Peri Gilpin, Glenn Morshower, Johnny Hardwick, Jonathan Joss and Mike Judge. Somehow, though, a show that crossed over with 30 Rock for several years never booked the actor whose role as Kenneth the Page made him synonymous with the state of Georgia: Jack McBrayer.

Based on the evidence of a new clip from the revival season, that seems like it’s about to change.

In the scene, Hank (Judge) is visiting Dallas’ George W. Bush Library with his wife Peggy (Kathy Najimy), and their friends Nancy and Dale Gribble (Ashley Gardner and Toby Huss). The...

Hank And Bobby Share A Cold One In New Teaser From Hulu's King Of The Hill Continuation
Image
In the latest teaser from the revival, Hank Hill fixes Bobby with a dead-serious stare and quips, “You must be a professional comedian if you think I’m going to let you take over for me.”

Despite Bobby’s advancement in age and success as a chef in Dallas, Hank still won't budge when it comes to the sacred duty of manning the grill. It’s a humorous yet heartfelt exchange that perfectly reflects their classic father-son dynamic, where growth is acknowledged, but Texad traditions stands firm.

When it comes to propane and grilling, Hank Hill hasn’t changed a bit.

Fans of King of the Hill can get ready to return to Arlen, Texas, as the beloved series makes its long-awaited comeback with a brand-new 14th season, premiering August 4th exclusively on Hulu.

This marks a major shift from the show’s original home on Fox’s Sunday Animation Domination lineup.

King of the Hill Revival Gets New Teaser, Revealing Adult Bobby's Voice
Image
The beloved animated series King of the Hill is getting revived with an all-new season coming to Hulu this summer. As the updated show is set 15 years after the events of the original series, the characters are all notably much older, meaning Bobby Hill is now a young man.

On Father's Day, Hulu shared a new preview for the King of the Hill revival. While brief, the preview does include some actual footage from the show, revealing new interactions between an older Bobby (Pamela Adlon) and his father, Hank (Mike Judge). This also marks the first time fans have heard Bobby's voice, which sounds familiar but a bit older to reflect how he's no longer a child. Some things never change, however, given the different ways Hank and Bobby see things in the world — including beer. Check out the video below.

Fans Pay Their Respects to ‘King of the Hill’s Jonathan Joss at San Antonio Vigil
Image
A week after King of the Hill star Jonathan Joss was shot and killed in what his husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales says was a homophobic attack, fans paid their respects to the late John Redcorn actor.

Roughly 100 mourners gathered at Crockett Park in Joss’ hometown of San Antonio on Sunday, leaving flowers, lighting candles and sharing their memories of the actor at a vigil hosted by Pride Center San Antonio.

“He was just a long-time friend of ours, and we’ve always been fans of King of the Hill,” Brittany Melgar, who attended the vigil with her boyfriend, told local news outlet Ksat, noting that Joss had agreed to officiate their wedding shortly before his death.

For others, including Jennifer Rios, the memorial was about more than just a remembrance of Joss’ life, but rather an opportunity to show Kern de Gonzales their support as officials investigate the shooting as a potential hate crime.

Following Public Outcry, San Antonio Police Are Investigating Jonathan Joss’ Murder As A Possible Hate Crime
Image
After swiftly dismissing claims that the murder of King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation actor Jonathan Joss was a homophobic hate crime, the San Antonio Police Department has started to take the allegations of Joss’ husband Tristan Kern de Gonzalez more seriously.

On June 1st at roughly 7 p.m., Sapd alleges that Joss’ neighbor, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, drove up to Joss’ property and began arguing with the actor before drawing a gun and shooting Joss multiple times before driving away. Police officers arrested Ceja just one block from the scene of the murder, and they claim that Ceja admitted to shooting his neighbor during the arrest. Ceja has been charged with felony first degree murder.

As Gonzalez declared shortly after the murder, the official story is far from a complete account of both the lead-up to the murder and the heinous act itself. Gonzalez claims that the murder...

San Antonio Police Walk Back “Premature” Insistence That Jonathan Joss’ Killing Was Not A Hate Crime, Say Investigation Is Ongoing
Image
The San Antonio Police Department on Thursday walked back its insistence that there was “no evidence” to suggest King of the Hill actor Jonathan Joss’ killing was motivated by homophobia.

Police Chief Bill McManus said today in a news conference that it had been “way, way, way premature” for the department to issue a statement earlier this week dispelling the idea that the killing was a hate crime, after Joss’ husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales detailed the events that preceded the shooting, saying it was the result of repeated and “openly homophobic” harassment.

“We understand that many in the LGBTQ+ community are feeling anxious and concerned. A lot of it has to do with that premature statement that we released, and again, I own that. We shouldn’t have done it,” McManus said. “The loss of Jonathan Joss was tragic and most heavily felt by the LGBTQ+ community.”

Joss was...

Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan on ‘The White Lotus’ Cut Scenes: ‘There Are Things You Won’t See That Are a Part of Our History’
Image
There’s nothing quite like working on “The White Lotus,” where cast members live on the same hotel set where they’re filming for as long as six months. And for Season 3 stars Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan — who played three lifelong friends on a girls’ trip to Thailand — it’s something they’re forever bonded by.

“We’d spent half a year together making this thing far from our homes and our families and our routines,” Coon tells Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast. “And it’s so fraught when we watch it in a way that it will never be for anybody else. We’ll never be able to explain it. There’s no way to express the fulsomeness of that experience. I’ve said, It’s like being an astronaut. The only person who knows what it’s like is another astronaut.”

San Antonio Councilmember Rips Police Department for Swiftly Dismissing Hate Crime Allegations in Jonathan Joss Case
Image
Jalen McKee-Rodriguez of the San Antonio City Council is outraged that the police department ruled out the possibility that the murder of Jonathan Joss was a hate crime before the actor’s body was even cold.

On Sunday evening, according to the San Antonio Police Department, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, a neighbor to the late King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation star, pulled up to Joss’ property in a vehicle and began arguing with him. Ceja, 56, then drew a rifle and shot Joss multiple times before driving away. When police officers responded to the 911 call about an active shooting, they found Joss dead on the scene, and they swiftly arrested Ceja just a block away from where he allegedly murdered his neighbor.

Ceja was charged with felony first-degree murder, telling the arresting officers simply, “I shot him.” He is now out on bail.

But according to Joss’ husband, Tristen Kern de Gonzales,...

Marvel's New Black Panther Revealed After T'Challa's Death (And It's Causing A Stir)
Image
This post contains major spoilers for "Marvel Knights: The World to Come."

For those who have any designs on reading Christopher Priest and Joe Quesada's ongoing comic book miniseries "Marvel Knights: The World to Come," turn back now. You've been warned.

Here's something nobody expected to say today: There's a white Black Panther now. Yes, really. As reported by Bleeding Cool, in the pages of the recently published "The World to Come" #3, we see a previously unknown son of T'Challa, the main Black Panther from the Marvel Comics universe, challenging his father for the throne of Wakanda. That challenge is successful, with the character we know as Ketema declaring, "I am king now, Wakanda is mine!" as T'Challa lies defeated on the ground. The catch? Once Ketema takes his mask off, we're looking at what appears to be a blonde, blue eyed white man.

Ain't no way Black Panther...

Two Days Before He Was Killed, Jonathan Joss Crashed a ‘King of the Hill’ Panel. Here’s What Happened in the Room
Image
A few hours before I was scheduled to moderate the “King of the Hill” reunion/revival panel last Friday at Austin’s Atx TV Festival, I got to watch the first two episodes of the series’ highly anticipated upcoming return. Most of the show’s main characters are back, but have aged since we last saw them in 2009: Hank and Peggy are retired, and Bobby is now a successful 21-year-old sushi chef.

Among the supporting characters, in Episode 2 we see neighbor Nancy Gribble (voiced by Ashley Gardner) – as well as the object of her not-so-secret love affair, John Redcorn (voiced by Jonathan Joss). Gardner and Joss weren’t included on the Atx panel, as it was meant to be a small gathering led by creators Mike Judge (also the voices of Hank Hill and Boomhauer) and Greg Daniels. Also on stage were just three additional actors: Pamela Adlon (who...

‘King of the Hill’ Fans Revolt Against the Show’s Instagram Tribute to Jonathan Joss
Image
Yesterday, King of the Hill co-creators Mike Judge, Greg Daniels and showrunner Saladin Patterson honored slain Koth star Jonathan Joss, who was shot and killed by a neighbor at his San Antonio home on Sunday night, with a post shared to the series’ official Instagram page, detailing just how much the John Redcorn actor’s “voice will be missed.”

“Jonathan brought King of the Hill’s ‘John Redcorn’ to life for over a dozen seasons, including in the upcoming revival,” read the post, which included a photo of Joss and his on-screen persona. “We extend our deepest condolences to Jonathan’s friends and family.”

Some fans, however, weren’t sold on the sentiment behind this statement, flocking to the comments with questions surrounding how the Koth brain trust handled Joss’ challenging final months. Namely, why Joss was excluded from the King of the Hill panel at the Atx TV Festival in Austin,...

Jonathan Joss’ Neighbors Recount the Lead-Up to the Fatal Shooting
Image
After King of the Hill actor Jonathan Joss was shot to death on Sunday evening, his community in San Antonio is now grappling with the ugliness of the murder with the eyes of the country upon them.

The San Antonio Police Department has alleged that, on Sunday night, after Joss and his husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales returned from a trip to Austin, neighbor Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja fired multiple shots into the long-time TV actor before fleeing in a vehicle. Paramedics pronounced Joss dead on the scene and police apprehended Ceja one block away, soon after charging Ceja with felony first-degree murder. Joss’ husband has since claimed that the killing was a homophobia-motivated hate crime, but the other residents in the area say that tensions between Joss and his neighbors stemmed from the late actor’s “erratic” behavior in the months leading up to his tragic murder.
