Kapodistrias

Kapodistrias" is an excellent film. It isn't about judging acting, costumes, or directing. It's about understanding where Greece came from and why so many things still feel unresolved today.

Through the life and struggle of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the movie shows how foreign interests shaped our country and how, in many ways, they continue to influence and govern Greece even now.

It's absolutely worth watching if you want a clearer sense of the burden we still carry as a nation and the unfinished story behind modern Greek history.

I just watched the movie Kapodistrias. First off, the film is excellent. It has easily ranked among the best and most important films. Mr. Smaragdis does an outstanding job with the screenplay, narrating the most essential aspects for us, taking us from the beginning of Kapodistrias's great career under the Tsar all the way to his end. It shows the divisive nature of the Greeks but also the grandeur of their self-sacrifice, like that of Kapodistrias. There are outstanding roles, perfectly tailored, such as those of Kapodistrias and Metternich, with brilliant performances. I believe the negative reviews were made deliberately or out of ideological bias; they unsuccessfully tried to latch onto trivial details, in my opinion. Go see the film by all means-definitely worth it. Beyond the important story, which is deliberately not taught, it presents the model of the ideal leader.

I set my pop corns and tortilla chips aside just to focus on the movie! Kept me 2 hours hooked. No fancy stuff no overacting or pointless dialogs. Just pure history and enjoyable flow of the facts that took place in the life of this Great Greek Ioannis Kapodistrias ! I am really happy I got to watch this movie and learn myself more about him !

One of the best greek movies i've ever seen. It describes well the story of Kapodistrias, the figure who established the Swiss Republic and governed his homeland Greece when it was freed by the ottomans. Anyone who claims the movie is bad is anti greek(communist,anarchist) or they just hate Kapodistrias because their last name is Mavromichalis or something relevant.

The movie confuses being religious with being deep. Lighting candles and whispering prayers isn't character development. There's zero nuance. Anyone who disagrees with Kapodistrias is basically wrong, bad, or morally inferior. No debate, no complexity. The dialogue sounds unnatural and preachy, like characters are speaking to the audience instead of each other.
