It was difficult getting through this film. Not one of the characters seemed human. Lots of ideas which don't really fit together. A very disjointed film in that quirks of each character are revealed, but it all seems meaningless. There is no suspense, apart from.just waiting for the end of the film. Many scenes are drawn out. The men are all unecessarily quiet or grumpy. When the kid asks 'where are we going' I felt exactly the same way about the film. It seems like the director started filming without a script, and then just made it up as he went along, but never really coming up with a consistent thread or story. "You look to the stars? I look to the stars. Some say fools look to the stars. You're not wrong. Four sides, four different winds. Energy comes from all around you and is drawn to the earth"
If that type of dialogue is gripping for you, as well as other unrelated and disjointed hippy pseudoscience, then maybe you'll like this film. My guess is most audiences are more sophisticated. Well, anyway; overall a film with little emotion, little engagement with the characters and a meandering 'plot' (using the word plot loosely).

This movie has no point. The only thing i got out of this is the writers really like the idea of crystals having some magical powers or something? The "machine" the guy is working on makes no sense. The only reason i'm giving this 3 stars is because the filming was good, if there was some sort of meaning behind the plot it would be enjoyable. I don't understand how there are so many good reviews for this film
Yip that is what i do now to find out the real reviews; quite sad really that the ratings cannot be relied upon now to find good movies to watch - The first 10 reviews on here are all false shills with only one review under their belts and giving a movie 9 or 10 means its the best movie you have ever seen imho and those come about once in a blue moon if you are a real movie goer these days.
Then come the real reviews - A soon as I saw the 1/10 reviews I kinda knew what to expect and should have switched off but due to my Movie-OCD once I have started to watch I must finish and so I did - Damn OCD!!! lol >;O)
Well , what can I say but ... you guessed it , the 1/10 reviewers were kinda right. I would rate the movie more of a 3 out of 10 as it does have some merit and has some pathos and thought provoking moments but it really could have been condensed into a short 30 min episode of Under The Dome!

This movie has a BIG heart, and it's in the right place! And I'll take a real, humble, heart driven piece like this over anything hellyweird could produce in a thousand life times. Every character in this movie was well positioned and well performed. I wouldn't even be surprised if C.C. didn't have more than just a little knowledge about how this 'reality' of ours really works. God bless you and yours Mr. Crawford.
First I would like to preface this with the fact that I watched this movie solely because Christian Kane is in it, but I went in with an open mind and no expectations.
Christian, of course, was excellent in the role of Boudreux, Grady's handy but mostly quiet best friend. Though the part was small Christian easily conveyed the intensity and dedication of the character in his relationship with Grady.
Clayne Crawford turned in a remarkable performance as Grady Lee Jr. Quiet, withdrawn, quite possibly a bit autistic, and utterly brilliant. This is a very different type if role for Crawford, and to say he nailed it is an understatement.
The true standout of this film is certainly Colt Crawford, son of Clayne, making his acting debut as Grady's nephew Kai. The characters of Grady and Kai are so intricately interwoven that they are nearly the same character in many ways. I'm sure that their real life relationship made it less difficult, the performance was so seamless that it is a true testament to Colt's natural acting talent.
The story itself I found to be an easily digestible level of an extremely complex concept. While it is true that there are in-depth questions that I would've enjoyed seeing explained, I believe that Sonny & Tom made the right choice in keeping the overall story a bit more simplified thus making the film enjoyable for the whole family. Each character has their own journey to travel, and they have the chance to get where they're going by the end of the film. I was also impressed by the film's ability to deal with conflicting subjects and ideals; science, science fiction, agnostic, Christian all without belittling the value of each.
Overall this is a solid film that I believe would be an enjoyable watch for virtually everyone.
