From the beginning I thought this series was miscast - the ML is not the right fit for this role and his transformation to big star was unconvincing. As is usual with Korean offerings they always overact when it comes to comedy and it is very evident here. The FL is charmless and her scenes don't hold any interest. There is far too much talk and not enough interactions. The episodes wear on with no sign of progression and I found my attention wandering - but this was mainly because of the ML and my non acceptance of his role - he is suited to more serious aggressive roles and light comedy is not his forte. Another disappointment from Studio Dragon.
Great drama. Both leads are fantastic. A former top actor takes on a recurring role that viewers adore. Overnight he is known everywhere. But actors are artists and he's looking for variety. Enter his nemesis, who he sees as a wrecker for a salacious column about him based on a 3 tear old rumor. Plus, their initial meeting gave him the impression that she is a call girl. She falls in love with the very livable, charming screen persona. Will they be ablecto realize that working together is better than fighting? Future episodes will tell.
I'm really enjoying Nice to Not Meet You. It's a romantic comedy with real depth, and it has all the right elements.
Great comedy - even if some of the funny moments are a bit "silly," it's a beautiful and touching romance (it hasn't reached its peak yet, but it's already very present), and meaningful, genuine moments, even when they're wrapped in typical, slightly cringey rom-com scenes - it is a Korean rom-com after all.
If you look past the cringey bits, you'll find real depth, messages that reflect real life, and characters who are vulnerable, imperfect, and well-rounded - people who have gone through difficult things.
And above all - the actors!
I think Lee Jung-jae and Lim ji-yeon fit their roles perfectly.
Lee Jung-jae is known for being a phenomenal, versatile actor. I knew he could handle comedy, but I didn't expect him to shine like this!
He brings so much charisma, presence, and charm to Im Hyun-joon - and he does it effortlessly and naturally. I'm really happy to see him in such a refreshing role.
Lim ji-yeon is also a very talented actress, and her acting feels so natural, she's so charming and cute, as well.
As for their chemistry - despite the mixed opinions and all the talk about their age gap, I think their chemistry is amazing. You can really feel the spark and the tension between them, and visually they look great together as a couple. Lee Jung-jae is incredibly handsome and charismatic and looks amazing for his age, so I honestly don't see any issue here.
Compared to other dramas I've watched, Nice to Not Meet You is on a completely different level - in every way.

I've been watching K-dramas for a long time, and lately I was starting to get bored. I would often stop watching dramas halfway through because they just weren't the same anymore. But watching this drama, I felt that old joy, that old excitement, that old jealousy again. That's what a drama should be - one where you see yourself as the main character, where you feel everything that happens to the lead character. It's been a long time since I've seen a drama that made me feel that way again.
As others wrote, the story is utterly ridiculous and unconvincing. Although I liked the FL lead and her unsociable behaviour and unusual way of dressing, there is just not enough interaction with the ML or her boss to fall for her.
That aside, there is so much childish overacting and not enough of a story that I simply couldn't bring myself to watch beyond episode 7. Was this meant to be a drama for kids? Don't think so.
Why on earth did Lee Young-jae accept this role? One would think that he could do so much better. Or maybe the script just went havoc in the middle of the production? The initial idea wasn't bad, after all.
