And here we are, another one for cat people. We have done meme already this season, what gives? Ha-ha, cats being more than what they seem, above us, with some higher understanding of us, mere humans.. It just made me roll my eye again. This is what instagram is for. Posts of cat memes... The animation looks dated, it is definitely a style choice, but it definitely looks dated to me. The character of satan is also very tried and tested, nothing new or intriguing there. When it comes to the story...it's just like a mid episode of say, one of the warner brothers' cartoon series from the 90s. The jokes of funny lines were on that level too. I can see some people enjoying it, I have seen nothing in here that I truly enjoyed or would rewatch again.
If you are that desperate to animate a cool short story, there are THOUSANDS of people waiting on line but for whatever reason, they hired and animated these incredibly boring, bad writers.
Today is the day that another great show died cause they hired incompetent employees instead of actual talented people.

Thank god for this episode in a series which seems to have been reduced to an animation showcase that offers little more than puerile toilet humour and gore. Love + Death + Robots used to have something to say, but not anymore it seems bar this episode. Not since Felidae's Francis, to which along with T. S. Elliot this may owe a debt, have I been so interested in the adventures of a cat, it is of course in part down to the chamber music fitting for the period in which it's set, but also a sort of authenticity that feels like it is borrowed from sort of historic cautionary tale. It is both very odd and very good, strangely enough the illustration and animation style is the least showcasey of the lot, but not inappropriate. I would like to watch more of Goeffrey's adventure's.
A poet is chosen by God to write a special poem. Although he is attacked by demons and eventually Satan himself, his cat protects him.
This was a nice change from the idiocy and glorified filler of several previous episodes this season. Having to sit through two Scalzi episodes this season without seeing even one mind-blowing episode really sucked.
Cats are reasonably popular in horror fiction. Lovecraft in particular liked cats, so they show up in his stories sometimes as protectors. Here, they have magical powers and fight against demons. It's very much reminiscent of fairy tales.
I thought the cats presented here were more interesting than the stupid Scalzi episodes featuring cats. Our protagonist is one of the cats, and he has a fun mix of divine and feline behaviors. Satan, too, is presented well, I thought. He's much as in tall tales -- affable until angry, and able to be outwitted but not defeated.
This season has had pretty much uniformly excellent art, though the stories have been very disappointing to me. I thought this episode's art was pretty nice. It's stylistic but not overly so. The story itself is also fun. After those Scalzi episodes, I'm just glad to see something that doesn't depend on toilet humor for 8 year olds.
In any other season of LD&R, this would have been a good but not excellent episode. In such a disappointing season, it's one of the standouts.

The animation style didn't particularly drive me crazy, but I didn't totally dislike it either. It was enjoyable to watch. The story is also not bad. I was completely satisfied with it.
The only detail I didn't like, however, was the magic, which in my opinion was totally randomly placed. How do cats get powers? It is explained quite superficially and trivially, not being explored at all. Also the fact that the cats had voice-overs didn't blow me away as a thing and slightly annoyed me.
In conclusion the episode is not bad to watch, in fact it is enjoyable to watch. But it is not one of the best either.
