Hard times for porn are reflected in Digital Playground's miniseries: "Synthesis", a meek attempt to cash in on all that publicity the last couple of years about AI. Just as the billions of CapEx spending by the tech companies on AI infrastructure are beginning to dry up (as America faces a recession), so too dwindling porn budgets have been cut to the bone, evidenced by the cheapo production values here.
Seth suffers a failed marriage to Little Puck, and rebounds by creating an AI robot, Ameena Green, more for sexual and control reasons than scientific research. Since this is an AI science fiction/porn movie, Green develops her own thinking and wants to satisfy her own sexual yearnings, leaving Seth as the typical megalomaniacal creator with egg on his face.
Fans who subscribe to the DP website just for the sex might buy into this, but as entertainment or even sci-fi it's a complete flop, not least of which due to miscasting Ameena Greenwood, seemingly randomly chosen by director Ricky Green for the robot role.
