There's a good reason why Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In is listed on Billboard's Greatest Songs of All Time. This beautiful, happy, and catchy medley of two songs, originally composed for the late 1960s rock musical Hair and later released as a medley by the sunshine pop band The 5th Dimension, is both memorable and emotionally stirring. The first part of the song is about the "Age of Aquarius," a coming era of love, light, and humanity. While that part is great, I especially love the second part, Let the Sunshine In, particularly the full-length version from the 1979 movie adaptation of Hair, which tells a heartbreaking story of a peace-loving man who helps his soldier friend spend private time with his girlfriend by pretending to be him, only to be mistakenly sent to war and die in his place. That said, the space-themed music video for The 5th Dimension's medley is also fun to watch. It's designed to keep the viewer's attention focused on the group as they dance and perform in the happiest and most enjoyable ways.
