Please, please, stop with the Botox and fillers! Two beautiful women turned into plastic Barbies, and not in a good way. Very distracting.
I was especially interested in watching this since I have been to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque. It is an experience that you should try not to miss.
Hallmark staple Paul Green is a favorite of mine and I will watch something just because of him. He is fine in this as are the other actors. I especially liked seeing Lorenzo Lamas as the father. He is still quite handsome! The chemistry between the two main leads lacked sparks. Maybe it was because I couldn't get past the lips. (Sorry) The two actors playing the two friends had more chemistry and were cute together. I hope to see more of Alexis Zollicoffer (Lisa) in the future.
Building a story around a balloon festival is a bit different and shooting in Albuquerque added to the movie. Thank you Hallmark for not trying to make Canada look like New Mexico. The story line was so, so. It would have been nice if we didn't have the usual trope of the boss insisting that the reporter get the story no matter how unethical it is. Can't the writers come up with something different? A reporter from Seattle doing a story on a balloon festival is told to dig up dirt on the balloon pilot. He is not famous and is just one of the many that are there. Why would anyone care, especially people hundreds of miles away? It's a stupid plot twist and very over used. Of course then there is the usual overheard telephone call, then jumping to conclusions because you walk away instead of listening to an explanation and then, making up with the final kiss.
I give this a seven. It's really a five/six but extra points for Paul Greene, Lorenzo Lamas and the balloons.

I had a hard time getting into this movie. McKenzie looked so made up . She looked like she had a hard time talking due to all
The stuff in her face. Her make up was shinny and looked plastic. So sad don't know how he could act like he was attracted to her. Why did anyone think she was attractive and was good for the part. Her blonde hair looked so fake and the dark eyebrows made you wonder if she was blonde. Was it a wig? He is so handsome and a good actor so he did a good job holding it all together. I wonder if she has taken a good look at herself and realize it times to stop with the injections and surgery.
The female star looks like her face is made of plastic that a child painted makeup on and her lips were too plumped up with something. The bleach on her hair is a terrible color and looks like straw and what's with the black roots? The hairdo itself looks like she just got out of bed. If it all wasn't so pitiful it would look like a joke. Why is Paul's hair sticking up? That look is long gone, thank goodness. Paul always looks great and his acting is wonderful. The balloons are beautiful and the camera work is breathtaking. I cannot finish watching. I think that if the female lead looked normal it would be a good movie.
I don't watch Hallmark movies for great content. It's usually just for entertainment purposes. I love the stars and the scenery and the upbeat storylines. At least I know that a hallmark movie will always end on a good note. However, with this particular movie I was so put off by the terrible makeup on the female lead and the horrific wig, that they became the real co stars. Every scene with a close up I cringed. I don't understand why they insisted on either. When she's not an unattractive woman, she's gorgeous minus all the makeup and the horrific wig.
I stuck with it because of Paul Greene. Nice eye candy!

6.0 stars.
This story did not sparkle like many Hallmark stories do. Another factor that deflated the experience, pun intended, was the lack of energy from the actors. This was simply an all-around, low quality film. Obviously, it doesn't help that the blond women both appear to have had cosmetic surgery and Botox. Also the lead female's hair exposed a much-to-obvious patch of roots, like a sore thumb.
There is no story, no real romance (they attempt something that fails miserably), and no entertainment value. The lead female has a really grumpy and flat boss that seems a bit out of place. The lead male's Father is sad all the time, the mother is out of sorts and these three characters cast a cloud of sorrow over the story. The lead male and his buddy are okay, i suppose, but insufficient to resurrect it. I suppose the film industry is a hit-and-miss business, but jeepers.
The only semi-positive I have for this review is that the film is average for the music and cinematography. But this cannot sustain a movie. Nobody is going to truly enjoy this experience.

- WissenswertesAlthough playing the parents of Paul Greene's character, Gail O'Grady is only 11 years his senior, and Lorenzo Lamas only 16 years, which is technically possible, however, highly unlikely.
