    Incredibly Disappointed

What have we come to where it's now acceptable for AAA titles to be built around microtransactions and DLC packs?

We get enough of this microtransaction junk on mobile games, and it is completely unacceptable for this stuff to start showing up in major console/PC titles. The game is built to force you to buy tokens with real money to get your favorite cars in a reasonable amount of time. Thus far in my experience (roughly 15 hours), most races only offer you a 10,000-20,000 credit reward for winning a race (and I race with assists off and with a high affinity car). Races take approximately 10 minutes a piece. So the maximum credits you can earn per hour is about 120,000 credits. Now, the only modern F1 car in the game costs 2 million credits. At the current credit rate, it would take you SEVENTEEN HOURS to afford to buy many of these cars (or spend $10+ on tokens to buy the car). It's just ridiculous, and I will likely be selling Forza here in the future. It was the main reason I purchased an Xbox One in the first place - I loved Forza 4 and was a top 10 leaderboard driver - but Forza 5 is, at most, a pathetic game that is falling in line with the rest of the industry: 1.) Release initial game with very little content. 2.) Release DLC every month at a cost of $10+ per DLC. 3.) Develop the game so you have to either grind for a long time or use real world money to purchase in game items.

The vanilla game is just bland - most of the cars you want to have are DLC (and a fair amount of them are the top leaderboard cars - so if you want to place high on the leaderboards, get ready to fork out money for incredibly over-priced car packs). One or two cool cars per pack forces you to buy all the car packs to eventually end up with half a dozen cars you actually want.

Graphics are terrible. Things look pretty if you're not moving, but once you start moving, the game does weird things. Perhaps it's just my copy or install, but the graphics on my game look awful. The scenery flashes and switches resolutions constantly. It's incredibly distracting. The rock chips on your car after a race also look terrible - like they forgot to finish rendering the game. I don't understand this, as Forza games of the past had brake-dust and rock chips that looked really good.

The physics are also incredibly flawed that the game is basically unplayable if you want to drive realistic racing lines. Any attempt to cross over, brake, or drive on a curbing (the usually-red-and- white stripped strip that lines the exit and apex of a turn) results in your car being shot into the air at random, and you lose control.

Controls just don't feel fast enough. I feel like I'm catching the spin, since my controller is jammed all the way in opposite lock, but when I look at my wheels on the replay, the tires are straight. The steering wheel does not turn fast enough and precise enough. This has been a problem in past Forza titles, but it is magnified in this game because of the tendency to spin rather quickly in Forza 5. Trying to catch a tank-slapper is virtually impossible.

Adding to these woes is the suddenly horrible Forza server. Forza 3 and Forza 4 both had exceptional servers: I could hop into a room and race for hours with only the occasional car glitching because somebody had a bad connection. But Forza 5 reminds me of my Gran Turismo online experience. The server is just terrible for Forza 5. Cars glitch around everywhere - lagging back and forth, left and right, hovering and slamming into the track, lagging through an field of players and sending their cars spinning and flying off the road. I played Forza 5 online for nearly 3 hours, and every room i joined was the same - even when I played with players who had excellent internet connections. The server is just garbage, and close bumper-to-bumper racing with club members that I was able to enjoy in Forza 4 cannot be done in Forza 5.

Incredibly disappointed in you, Turn 10. Forza used to be revolutionary, now it's just garbage. 4/10, and i feel that's even being generous.

Better than what I was expecting...

So this is Forza 5 released in 2013 and still hasn't lost its charm.

Basically, Forza 5 is a grand tour through motoring both present and historic. You race slow cars, you race fast cars, you race new cars, you race old cars and you can race just about any car as you progress through career with a bit of education along the way.

I played this on the Xbox One. The interesting thing is that the Xbox One is semi-4K meaning there are features of the game such as the crowd and reverse view which are in 4K. But this is not a complete 4K game so make no mistake. Microsoft does not support a 4K Forza 5 on the Xbox One X.

This game has aged well it is still a lot of fun if you tend to be rather good at driving/racing games like myself.

You can adjust different settings such as car ware and tear and remove guidelines such as braking before sharp corners. The more you play like a pro the more credits you will be rewarded with to buy and upgrade cars.

Before I played Forza 5 I thought about buying a steering wheel, manual gear stick and pedal set to make my gaming experience more realistic. Don't. Don't because what I found is the heads up display suited me just fine. You can play this instalment of Forza 5 in different views but the best I found was the steering wheel and dashboard view. Playing at a computer desk with a decent gaming monitor also helps you. I game with a BenQ gaming monitor an American product which is arguably the best for HDMI and semi-4K gaming. BenQ has a reputation as being what it is because their hardware is used by the best gamers in the world. Also, don't buy a full 4K ultra HD television just buy a 4K gaming monitor and set it up on a cheap computer desk which you can assemble (two people is best) and sit in front of it with your undivided attention.

So these days Forza 5 would be like about twenty dollars from EB Games or anywhere else for that matter.

Just buy it give it a go and have fun on the track.

The worst of the series, but still really good

Forza 5 is the worst game in the series, but it's still a great game, the graphics are gorgeous and the sound is amazing, though the game doesn't have as many tracks or cars as the previous ones, it still has a wide variety of them, but the tracks can get repetitive, the gameplay is fun yet a bit tedious at times, leveling up in this game is quite watered down to just gaining 35K credits per level, and it doesn't go up that's all you get, there is no free cars or more money just 35K credits, and the championships seem a bit simplified as it's not in a calendar and let's you choose a variety of events that you want to do, it's just a generic race list per championship, and you only get 12K credits per championship, and the worst of all is that there is no auction house, NO AUCTION HOUSE!, the multiplayer is almost dead, and there is no auction house so online mode is useless, but there is quite a lot of content, so far I had put 55 hours and I haven't beaten the career mode, yeah that's long, this is a fun game, is it perfect? no, is it bad? no, it's a really good game with some flaws, I bought the game for $13, $13 for i believe is probably gonna be 110 hours of content is a great bang for your buck, but it's more simplified than the previous games, but it's still a really good game

    A superb racing game.

Forza 5 may not have as many tracks or cars as its predecessor, forza 4, or its competitor, Gran turismo, but Turn 10 has taken a quality over quantity approach that makes this game easily surpass the aforementioned games.

First let's talk about the controller. The controllers impulse triggers let you feel power behind the car. Nothing feels better than when you gun it down a straight stretch and you feel the roar of the engine beneath your finger.

Secondly lets get to the graphics. At 60fps and 1080p Forza 5's graphics are simply superb, there have been incidents where i've mistaken screen-shots for real life.

Next, the mechanics. Forza allows you to variate your experience, from turning on manual clutch operation, to realistic damage, to a wide range of tuning. It also boasts a rewind system.

Lastly, online. Turn 10 has utilized the cloud to create drivatars. Drivatars are a digital version of a player, essentially an A.I. that mimics a person's play style, however you won't see much of this in the lower difficulties. You can do this along with racing beside 4 other friends in intense high speed races. The marketplace also allows you to browse designs that other members of the community have made as well. This really shows how Xbox One is the best console for online gaming.
