This short film pays tribute to the bravery of 21 Coptic Christians martyred by ISIS for refusing to recant their faith in Jesus. They follow in the footsteps of countless thousands who have been martyred for their faith throughout history, and many who have been martyred since in dark places like Nigeria.

Their story is a testament to the power of their faith and the love of their Savior. The challenge in telling a story like this is not to simply glamorize the martyrs as heroes or villainize their captors as evil spawn of the devil. All Christians who read the words of Jesus know that their faith is risky, but that God is a master at turning evil into good. Just look at Jesus on the Cross, and ponder the power of the resurrection!

This film is artistically intriguing and tastefully presents a very difficult story. I hope and pray that it gets a wide showing by a thoughtfully receptive audience.

I am deeply familiar with the story of the 21 Martyrs of Libya. I have read books about them and read all the news coverage about ISIS's savage act. So I did not expect to be so deeply moved by this short animated film of their story. Its narration is simple and just enough. The art echoes Coptic iconography while also being true to the modern age during which this happened. The music and soundscape brought us right into their spiritual and physical world. I highly recommend this film and thank the creators for their thoughtful, prayerful and moving depiction of the martyrdom of these Coptic Orthodox young men.

It is a terrible story that unfolded for those men but this animated short does an amazing job honouring their live's and faith in the art style of the Coptic church. Like saints remembered before them through out the ages, this beautiful art work can serve as a way to remember this event. The hand drawn visuals are truly impressive and captivating. I feel like this animated short is a gift to the families that lost a son, brother, husband, or father in this senseless act. It highlights the fact that these men while no doubt scared for their lives, seemed to have decided it was worth the cost to proclaim their faith in Christ to the end. It is indeed a touchy subject as the Abrahamic faiths continue to have their tensions decade after decade but I don't think this film was created with the intention of creating more animosity. Everyone will have their biases going into any story related to events surrounding these faiths but I personally feel this is first and foremost a memoriam to the men that died for something they believed in. As an artist and animator myself I cannot stress enough how refreshing and inspired the artwork is in this film.

Ten years after the matyrdom of the 21 Coptic Christians (mostly) from Upper Egypt this film shows what happened in a very appropiate, authentic and meaningful way. It is wonderful to see how respectfully and accurately the filmmakers captured the scenes. The combination of Coptic iconography and modern animation is unique, the speakers and the music are strong but never too much. I was amazed how moving and deep this short film captured the faith of the men and the supernatural fight behind the actions. Great respect for this piece of art! I am confident that this movie will help the story to go out to the world!

The neo-Coptic iconography, the hauntingly beautiful storytelling, and the reverence with which their story is told left me in tears.

As an American, I have the freedom to profess my faith without fear, yet this film was a humbling reminder that so many around the world suffer and even die for the name of Christ. It doesn't feel fair. It makes me realize how easily we can take our religious liberty for granted while others stand firm in faith unto death.

While I have endured spiritual warfare and personal trials throughout my life, watching The 21 deepened my gratitude for my faith and the responsibility that comes with it. Their story reminds me that faith is not just about comfort-it's about endurance, love, and unwavering devotion to Christ, no matter the cost.

This film is not just a piece of art; it's a testimony, as well as a legacy of their story in the Hall of Faith. It challenges us to reflect, to pray, and to boldly live out our faith. Their sacrifice was not in vain, and their story deserves to be known.

I give The 21 10/10 stars because it is more than a film-it is a deeply moving experience that leaves an imprint on the soul. Its powerful message, breathtaking artistic style, and the weight of its storytelling make it an unforgettable must-watch.
