.1) Parks did his usual, he knocked it out! From the suspense, to the audio, to the intriguing story line, I was left on the edge of my seat. I had to watch this film twice, because once just doesn't do justice. 2.) I rated this film a 7/10 simply because the film left me with 3/4 of my popcorn in my bag with half my skittles gone... There was epic symbolism of a man helping an individual who he does not know and providing a way for him. This film shortly goes from Thieves to Trust. I would definitely recommend this movie to others to see. 3.) I'm going to have my wife watch this movie over and over and over and over and over again.
Art is not merely meant to be viewed. It is meant to be felt. Good art makes you feel something. Really good art makes you feel AND think. This is now the third film I have seen by Erik Parks. And it did not disappoint. In a short amount of time, I cared about the main character and found myself asking: "what would I do?" Erik has the unique gift of creating beautiful imagery, not just for the sake of beautiful imagery, but nuances meaning into it. This film will draw you into the loneliness and confusion of an eerily empty town, the fear of wicked people as your only companions, and the twinkle of hope from an unexpected source.
If you like thought-provoking films...watch it.
If you like films with zero point...don't watch it.
Some filmmakers struggle to get audiences to simply think in 90 minutes. D. Erik Parks poses mystery and interpretation in only 12 minutes. Short films are tricky. "How do you get a person to feel something in just a few moments?" This film achieves many emotions that are understandable, and universal. With beautiful cinematography, and a steady cast, "Thieves" breaths life into a genre that is everywhere you look. You finish the film with possibilities. Not only for the characters, but for yourself.
