Japanese Drama '' Chastity High '' is a school melodrama.

The story centers around the main lead, Arisawa Ichika, as she struggles to survive financially and becomes an unexpected hero.

The drama tackles a lot of themes, with sensitivity and care, but, due to its length, it doesn't manage to present them properly. None of them has the proper organic development and some of them, especially the romance, feel rashed.

Still, the characters were interesting and the actors and actresses of the cast did an amazing job with their performances.

So, overall, seven out of ten for '' Chastity High ''.

Despite its flaws, the series delves into relevant modern themes, set against the backdrop of a strict school environment where romantic relationships are forbidden. It explores the emotional struggle of navigating a romance while concealing true feelings, all under the pressure of rigid rules and societal expectations. The story masterfully portrays the tension between personal desires and external constraints, offering a compelling narrative that resonates deeply. Despite its imperfections, the series captures the complexity of love and connection, making it worth watching and reflecting on.

Only those who do not know how to admire the theme of the work would not know how to evaluate this series.

This show is as I mentioned (in my opinion) the Japanese equivalent of Netflix's Sex Education. The soundtrack and use of music to create tension alongside cinematic shots was the highlight of the later episodes of the series for me and I felt this show actually got better as it went on, rather than more boring and messy like alot of jdramas and kdramas tend to do.

All the characters were well thought out and likeable, (aside from some obvious antagonists) and I especially loved how no characters (even the antagonists) were represented as wholly good or bad, they were all morally grey just as reality is. However I didn't feel as though I was watching some gritty and depressing thought provoking peice, it was still a fun and giggly teen romance show.

The reason I didn't give this show a 10/10 is because although I think many diverse issues were covered in this show, there were a few places I found potentially lacking in conviction, as the 'comeuppance' and punishment for certain characters and actions fell flat and lacking, despite this being a potentially more realistic result.

I think most negative reviews of this show come from people who either morally disagree with some aspects of the show, which, in my opinion, does not have to ruin the show as it is not outrageously provocative or in your face. Or, the reviews come from people who were expecting an innocent and sweet romance, like many kdrama and jdramas tend to have, without any sense of reality for our current society.

I would love to see a second season of this show as it very quickly became one of my favourites on Netflix !!

It was inappropriate and full of sexual content, i watched the first and second episodes with my sister thinking that its a good highschool series like the kdrama the hierarchy , pyramid games etc , i ended up watching a japanesse version of elite , so disappointed to be honest . This serie is broadcast internationally on netflix meaning everyone will watch it and it does not promote anything good at all ! I just stopped watching because i couldn't handle what im seeing relation between the teacher and the student ! Blackmailing each others what kind of morals this gonna give to the young people watching this.

A lot of these negative reviews here are not about the plot but rather about their own views on the "is sex in high school bad?" dilemma.

Reviews should be about the TV show, not about whatever you think is morally correct or not. So for those who want a quick review regarding the quality of the actual TV show, read below.

It shows how teenage students in a private high school in Japan tackle with a no-romance rule that is imposed by the principal. It is emotional and shows different variations of love and heartbreak and the different ways people cope with these feelings, a bit of diversity if you will. I thought that it portrayed quite a realistic view of how japanese people think of love and expressing feelings.

The cinematics were very eye pleasing, a 9/10. Lots of romance scenes had beautiful, mesmerising set ups, very beautiful cinematography and I cannot praise it enough.

Up until the last 2 episodes it was very exciting to watch. The last episode felt a bit unrealistic, maybe a bit rushed. The last episode had quite a lot going on, and I think it could've been prolonged to 12 episodes instead, to ease the unevenly rushed final episode. It was of course left open for a potential second season and had (in my opinion) an interesting twist to a twist if you would.

Would I recommend it? Yes. It tugged at my heartstrings, though I am maybe a bit too emotional. If you're looking for a TV show to binge at night and want to cry a bit, it is definitely for you.

Did it have flaws? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Also yes. That's why I give it a 8/10.
