ED: Extra Decent

ED: Extra Decent took me by surprise as I saw shades of rare black humour in a Malayalam film. The titular moniker is for Suraj Venjaramoodu's character where he dons the hat of the "most dysfunctional" in his small dysfunction family. The attempt at comedy is mostly tired but ED still manages to make you laugh here and there. But what definitely grabs your attention is Suraj's performance as the eccentric and weird grown-up who has scores to settle. I had a ball watching this with my family as we could ask each other if we would ever do something like what the characters in the film do to each other. A good watch!

A dark humour subject placed through a non linear narration.

The plot of the story revolves around Binu,a curious character among the neighborhood showing extra care for his family and the quirky secrets inside the house forms the base for the storyline.

The expectations derived from the trailer about the strange characterisation of Suraj was impressive but miserably failed in developing an engaging storyline when it came on screen. The screenplay and performance was very organic and failed in grabbing the attention of the audience. The idea of showing some inside thoughts running in the minds of the immediate family members was impressive.

Good performances by Suraj Venjaramoodu,Sudheer Karamana & Vinaya Prasad, but the central characters performances alone couldnt help the movie.

The poor execution,narrative style used and the rumpled screenplay makes it just a one time watch.

So sorry to mention that the movie ED produced by such a talented actor like Suraj Venjaramoodu fell really so short of expectations. Maybe it was mainly because of the poor story line of the writer??. The movie has left only a feeling of "Monotony" without much to feel that it's a commedy as shown in the ads of the movie. Like what the so talented Late Sri Siddique Sir told me when I was able to meet him and ask him why many films don't perform well, he gave me the important answer - "Lack of correct Judgement" as the main reason. I am sure there was really something wrong in the judgement by the people involved in production of the movie ED. Sorry to say that it would not run long in theatres. I just watched ED: Extra Decent and I'm still trying to figure out what the point of it all was. The movie was like a big mess, with a bunch of weird characters and a plot that didn't make any sense. I mean, I think it was supposed to be a dark comedy or something, but it just wasn't funny.

The main guy, ED, was just annoying and I didn't care about him at all. He was like a whiny baby who couldn't get his life together. And the supporting characters were just as bad. They were all like caricatures or something, with no depth or development.

The jokes were stupid and fell flat. I didn't laugh once during the whole movie. And the pacing was all off. It was like they took a bunch of random scenes and stuck them together without any idea of how they fit together.

I don't even know why I watched the whole thing. I guess I was just hoping it would get better or something. But it didn't. It just got worse and worse.

Overall, I would not recommend ED: Extra Decent to anyone. It's a waste of time and money. Unless you like watching stupid, unfunny movies with annoying characters and a nonsensical plot. Then I guess you might like it. But for everyone else, stay far, far away.

I'm going to give it a 3 out of 10. And that's being generous.

A film which is full of dark humour. But it was enjoyable. Story wise this movie is a flop. It doesn't have any kind of story line. Even the main plot of the movie is also not justified.

The only positives of this movie is Surajettan's acting. He has taken the whole movie on his shoulders. He was just amazing. The comedy elements were also not bad. I cannot say there's a lot to laugh but was decent in its humourous part. I felt that they should have atleast made the climax better. The climax feels incomplete.

There are lot of negatives to say but seeing it as solely a comedy film it is good. Overall it's a decent one time watch.
