The Gaslight District

I am really enjoying this series so far f,ans of glitches other shows will surely enjoy this, one especially the fans of murder drones it has quite a few similarities to murder drones , both incorporate dark comedy and Hyper violent action, they both have a quirky characters that don't feel generic or badly fleshed out, the animation is absolutely fantastic I really like the World building and the designs as well gives it a darker more grimy Edge while still being quirky and fun The show is very much its own thing, like murder drones but not for everyone, as a final note when good shows like this the amazing digital circus and murder drones come out on the Indie scene you really start to see what shambles the big entertainment companies are in, I highly recommend this give it a watch!

The animation is simply masterful. This stop-motion style fits the atmosphere of the series perfectly. The character designs are creative and fit into the world of the series. The story starts well, despite its speed, there was no unnecessary action in the episode. The concept is extremely interesting, there is nothing to complain about. So what's the problem? Ah, yes: the gore is too much. Of course, I understand that the studio had to somehow counter the prejudices caused by TADC, but the last 2 parts of MD were perfect for this purpose. It is true that the unrealistic form of violence fits the style of the series, but in my opinion, there should not have been so much blood splatter in every second or third scene. I fully accept that it is necessary to somehow communicate what age group the series is intended for, but there are better ways to do this than to shock the viewer with a few head-splitting blows. Overall, Gaslight District promises to be one of the best indie animated series of the year, but for the reasons mentioned above, I can't give it a maximum score.

GLITCH Productions promised content for teens and young adults, but The Gaslight District fails spectacularly to deliver. The show is an excessive, graphically violent, and tasteless mess. It's filled with meaningless scenes of gruesome violence that provoke disgust rather than interest. Uncensored swearing (including frequent use of F-word), alcohol, and smoking are shown without any context, seemingly just for shock value. The humor consists of lowbrow, crude jokes and childish imagery like porn magazine and drawing of penis, which come off as offensive rather than funny. What's worse, this show is a pathetic and disgusting parody of Tim Burton's cartoons, lacking any of the creativity or charm that make his work memorable.

Compared to Murder Drones, which is dark but at least has a plot and character development, The Gaslight District is much worse: a chaotic, meaningless mix of provocations that completely disrespects its audience. If you value a thoughtful story and quality animation, it's best to avoid this show.

Glitch Productions (The amazing digital circus and Murder Drones) Made another Indie Series called the gaslight district. And let me tell you, the moment the pilot finished, I fell in loved with it, this was an Enjoyable pilot. From The Animation to the Writing to the characters, this was peak Cinema. And if I have to be honest, Ts looks like it was made in a big budget studio and I like that it has that Choppy Spider verse feel. Also Loved Ken the butcher and Mud, If your a fan of Indie animation or just YouTube shows in gems, your gonna love this pilot. Because they cooked 🔥 10/10: Absolute Cinema.

I've been following Glitch's works since I got into The Amazing Digital Circus and this pilot blew me out of the water. The animation resembles Tim Burton and Henry Selick films, with the halved frame rate further adding to that stop motion feel. The show is far from kid friendly, but never takes it too far. Many other shows fall into a pitfall of being too violent or using swear words too much to seem mature, and this pilot never crosses those lines. Mel has very quickly become one of my favorite characters in media, with her design, personality, and a stunning voice acting job from Allanah Fitzgerald.

I don't have very many criticisms so far. The pacing is pretty fast and can be overstimulating, and the use of gross out humor is likely to turn some people away. However, neither of these are big issues for me.
