Stavros Halkias Rounds Out Cast Of A24’s Anthony Bourdain Biopic ‘Tony’
Image
Exclusive: Stavros Halkias, a buzzy comedian recently making his way into acting with projects like Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia and indie comedy Let’s Start a Cult, has come aboard for a role in Tony, the forthcoming Anthony Bourdain biopic from A24, Star Thrower and Zapruder Films, which has wrapped production.

Character details are under wraps. As previously announced, The Holdovers breakout Dominic Sessa leads the cast, which also includes Antonio Banderas, Emilia Jones, and Leo Woodall.

While pic’s logline is under wraps, sources say the film takes place during the summer of 1976, when a young Anthony Bourdain has a life-changing summer in Provincetown.

BlackBerry helmer Matt Johnson is directing from a script by Todd Bartels and Lou Howe. A24 is producing with Tim and Trevor White under their Star Thrower banner, along with Johnson and Matthew Miller through their Zapruder Films. Exec producers include Chris Stinson,...

Why Is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Fubar Canceled? Details Inside
Image
Netflix has officially canceled Fubar after two seasons, marking an abrupt end to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first leading role in a scripted streaming series. The announcement came just hours ago, with its streaming ratings being cited as the reason for its cancellation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An action-comedy, the series starred former Mr. Olympia and Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro as a father-daughter spy duo, working for the CIA. Though the first season debuted with strong viewing numbers, the sophomore installment failed to maintain momentum.

The second season featured him taking on an old flame, portrayed by Carrie-Anne Moss, who threatens to destroy his life and the world, face-to-face. Unfortunately, it delivered a performance so underwhelming that even enthusiastic fans weren’t enough to save it.

Netflix Cancels Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Fubar’ After Two Seasons
Image
Netflix has canceled the Arnold Schwarzenegger series “Fubar” after two seasons, Variety has confirmed. The series was a hit for the streamer in Season 1, back in 2023, but failed to perform as well during its second season, which premiered on June 12 — more than two years after its initial run. The show managed to make Nielsen’s streaming originals top 10 for the week of June 16, after its premiere, but then fell off the chart the following week.

Here was the logline to the series: “Luke Brunner is a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement. After his last mission in saving another operative – who just so happened to be his daughter – he’s back and face to face with new villains. This one is an old flame from Luke’s past who threatens to destroy the world…if she doesn’t destroy his life first.”

“Fubar” stars Schwarzenegger,...

‘Fubar’ Canceled By Netflix After 2 Seasons
Image
Exclusive: Netflix is not proceeding with a third season of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s spy action series Fubar. The decision comes about a month and a half after Season 2 launched on the platform on June 12.

It follows a surprisingly soft return for the series, which, likely fueled by Schwarzenegger’s global star power, had a strong debut in May 2023 and also stars Monica Barbaro who became an Oscar nominee between Seasons 1 and 2 for A Complete Unknown.

With Season 2 released more than two years after Season 1 dropped, Fubar barely made Netflix’s Top 10 for English-language series in its first week, landing in the last spot with 2.2M views from Thursday through Sunday, down from about 11M views for the show’s Season 1 premiere weekend. Season 2 peaked at #7 in its first full week with 3.3M views and logged one more #10 finish in Week 3 with 1.8M views before dropping out of the Top 10.

Full list of Netflix shows confirmed for release in 2025
Image
If you can believe it, we're already well past halfway through 2025. We have already binge-watched a number of new hit Netflix shows like Adolescence, Ransom Canyon, and Untamed and obsessed over the last seasons of the streamer's biggest fan-favorites like The Night Agent, Ginny & Georgia, Sweet Magnolias, and of course we can't forget the final season of Squid Game.

Before the ball could even drop and welcome us to 2025, Netflix already got started with revealing a handful of release dates to get fans excited. The Night Agent season 2 helped get the year started on an action-packed note in January, as will the second season of teen rom-com series Xo, Kitty and Harlan Coben's latest mystery limited series Missing You.

Shane Gillis’ ESPYs Monologue Wasn’t Great — But Not for the Reasons You Think
Image
The 2025 Espy Awards will likely be remembered for Shane Gillis’ monologue, even if the comedy was largely forgettable.

Gillis, a standup comedian and the co-creator and star of Netflix’s Tires, is probably best known for lasting like four hours at Saturday Night Live — Lorne Michaels felt compelled to fire Gillis after some non-pc clips of a 2018 episode of Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast were resurfaced — though he has gone on to host the show, twice.

By now, you’ve probably read both praise and criticism on Gillis’ monologue — he’s that kind of comic. Gillis is wildly popular among his base, and controversial among non-fans. This was always gonna go some sort of way, and ESPN executives knew that when they gave Gillis the gig. Gillis has appeared on the network’s College GameDay show, where he (internet-)famously got into it with Nick Saban, an all-time great...

Espy Awards Shower Kudos on Women as Host Shane Gillis Delivers Edgy Jokes About Female Athletes
Image
Host Shane Gillis brought his trademark brand of combative humor to the opening monologue of Wednesday night’s Espy Awards in Hollywood, drawing a mixed response from the audience of professional athletes and Hollywood celebrities.

The host’s jabs came in contrast to the high volume of kudos bestowed on major figures in women’s sports, including gymnast Simone Biles, rugby star Ilona Maher, recently retired soccer superstar Alex Morgan, retired WNBA great Diana Taurasi, tennis star Sloane Stephens and Penn State volleyball coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley. Olympic gymnast Suni Lee got the nod for best comeback athlete, a gender mixed category.

Morgan and Taurasi were jointly honored with the ESPYs Icon Award for their work beyond the game to advance women’s sports and improve working conditions for players.

“The way you opened up doors for women outside the game is legendary,” Taurasi told Morgan. The two-time Olympic soccer medalist...

The Street Fighter casting is using a brilliant formula to pick performers
Image
The Street Fighter project has begun casting, and you’ll see people being cast with a short list of credits on their IMDb pages or lack roles in action projects. That’s a good thing. It leaves fans of the game with fewer expectations since they don’t have much to go on. Granted, actors like Jason Momoa are established in their fields. That means you know what you're getting from them. Meanwhile, the others are still up in the air.

Coming up are the people cast in Street Fighter, who they’re playing, and whether or not they were good choices. Let’s start with the Otc (Original Tribal Chief).

Andrew Schulz Should Only Make Jokes About Being an Italian-American Pervert
Image
There has never been an Andrew Schulz-related headline that’s particularly funny. Normally the podcast host, actor and comedian is making news for the sort of reactionary comedy (or commentary) that often feels like it’s masking a lack of cleverness by being incendiary. He’s a comedian whose audience is generally described as “bros.” He tried to pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar. He kind of sucks.

But on Tires, from creators and writers Steve Gerben, Shane Gillis and John McKeever, Schulz does manage to find a stride: as an Italian-American used cars salesman named Andy Andiamo. He appears in nine episodes across the first two seasons’ 18 episodes, usually alongside Tommy Pope, portraying Tommy, his fellow used cars salesman at Andiamo Auto Sales. In this role, Schulz isn’t tasked with discussing current events or offering up analysis on internet discourse. He’s just a pervy, overly-animated dude who loves talking about women.

Netflix's Hit Show Climbs Streaming Charts Ahead Of Long-Awaited Final Season
Image
Netflix's Stranger Things, which has long been one of the streamer's flagship television shows, experienced a big bump in popularity ahead of the premiere of its fifth and final season. Stranger Things season 5 has been in the works since the ending of Stranger Things season 4 in 2022. That wait, plus the promise of ending the wildly popular series, has made it highly anticipated.

Ahead of the premiere of Stranger Things season 5, volume 1 on November 26, the earlier seasons of Stranger Things rose to number seven on the list of the top 10 original shows in America in the week of June 2 (via The Hollywood Reporter). That was shortly after the release date of Stranger Things season 5 was revealed.

In that week, the first four seasons of Stranger Things beat out several newer streaming originals, including MobLand, which had its season 1 finale on June 1, and Tires season 2, which premiered on June 5. It seems...

Netflix Cancels ‘Pulse’ and Shondaland’s ‘The Residence’ After One Season Each
Image
Netflix has axed two of its spring originals — the medical drama “Pulse” and Shondaland murder mystery “The Residence,” TheWrap has learned. As for “No Good Deed,” the streamer has yet to make a renewal decision about the show starring Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow.

“Pulse” was notable as it was Netflix’s first big medical drama, a genre that has long been successful on television. Both “ER” and “Grey’s Anatomy” fall into that category, and they remain two of the most beloved and widely referenced shows in television history. While Netflix’s medical play may have failed, HBO’s certainly didn’t. “The Pitt,” which came out months before the April premiere of “Pulse,” was a streaming hit for the streamer.

As for “The Residence,” which premiered in late March, the White House murder mystery starring Uzo Aduba was created by Paul William Davies and is based on Kate Andersen Brower’s book,...

Netflix Freshmen ‘Pulse’ & ‘The Residence’ Canceled, ‘No Good Deed’ On Indefinite Pause
Image
Exclusive: Over the last seven months, there has been a string of new scripted series launching on Netflix that have been renewed: Man on the Inside, Running Point, The Four Seasons, Beauty in Black, Forever, North of North and most recently Ransom Canyon and Canadian entry Bet. And then there have been a handful of freshmen with wobbly ratings performance that have been stuck in limbo for months: No Good Deed, which premiered December 12, The Residence (March 20) and Pulse (April 3).

The Residence and Pulse have been canceled, Deadline can reveal. There are no current plans for a second season of No Good Deed, but there is a theoretical possibility for the dark comedy anthology to come back in the future with a new installment — and a new cast — sources said.

The slew of Netflix scripted series renewals so far this year also include Bridgerton (for Seasons 5-6), The Diplomat (S...

Netflix Renews Divisive Shane Gillis-Led 'Tires' for Season 3
Image
Netflix has swiftly renewed its Shane Gillis-led workplace comedy, Tires, for a third season. The streamer announced the show's renewal less than a month after its second outing premiered on June 5. Tires centers on Will (Steve Gerben), who has taken over his father's struggling auto repair chain, Valley Forge Automotive. He's not exactly qualified for the role, but he tries to make the business succeed, all while dealing with his undermining cousin and employee, Shane (Gillis).

The show's journey to and on the streamer has been an interesting one. Gillis self-financed the six-episode inaugural season, and Netflix acquired the series as part of a deal that also included a new stand-up special for the comedian on the streaming service. Netflix and Gillis's first special, Beautiful Dogs, was released in 2023. He was also featured in 2024's Netflix is a Joke Fest.

After Major Score Improvement on Season 2, a Highly Underrated Netflix Comedy Has Just Received a Season 3 Renewal
Image
Netflix doesn't have the best track record of renewing popular shows. However, it looks like it's betting on highly underrated series more than ever.

The workplace comedy Tires premiered in 2024 to poor reviews from the critics, but enthusiastic ones from the audience. For Season 2, the critics finally came along and gave the follow-up season a positive score. A few weeks after the release of Season 2, Variety confirms Netflix has renewed Tires for Season 3.

The comedy series comes from Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben, and John McKeever. Season 2 hit Netflix on June 5 and, less than a month later, it has already scored a renewal for Season 3. Since its premiere, the comedy series has released a new season every year, and that will continue to be true for Season 3, as well, which will return in 2026. There is no release date yet, but since both seasons premiered in late spring, the third entry might follow a similar path.

Netflix Decides Fate of Shane Gillis' 55% Rotten Tomatoes Workplace Comedy Series
Image
The second season of Shane Gillis’ hit comedy series, Tires, debuted earlier this year, and now Netflix has finally addressed the future of the 55% Rotten Tomatoes series. Netflix has officially confirmed that Tires has been renewed for a third season, which is expected to begin streaming in 2026. This decision comes with little shock — the second season of Tires was far more successful than the first, earning stronger viewership and better scores from both critics and audiences on the world’s leading aggregate site. Tires Season 1 premiered with a “rotten” 40% from critics and an 87% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and Season 2 built upon this with a 71% critic's score and an 89% rating on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. The show also stars Steve Gerben.

In addition to starring in the show, Steve Gerben also created the series with Gillis and John McKeever, who has directed all 18 episodes to date. Spider-Man veteran Thomas Haden Church...

Netflix Renews Comedy Series For Season 3 Less Than One Month After Season 2 Debut
Image
The future of Tires gets an exciting update from Netflix. Tires released on Netflix in 2024 with the comedy series created by Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben, and John McKeever. Starring stars Gillis (Shane), Gerben (Will), the show follows Will at a struggling auto-repair shop where his cousin Shane is constantly subverting him.

Now, Netflix has revealed that Tires has been renewed for season 3. Season 2 of the series dropped on Netflix on June 5, making it less than a month after the release of the latest season that the renewal happened. No story details were made available, but Netflix revealed that season 3 will be coming in 2026.

What This Means For Tires The Quality Of The Show Is Improving

Tires season 2 was renewed before the premiere of the debut season, indicating Netflix had faith in the series. Season 1 had a dismal 40% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 87% Popcornmeter. Season 2 saw a drastic change in its critical reception,...

‘Tires’ Renewed for Season 3 at Netflix
Image
Hope you’re not getting tired of Tires, because there’s more on the way. (Also, you should not be — Tires season two was great.)

Netflix has renewed Tires for a third season, which will debut in 2026. Tires hails from comedian Shane Gillis, its breakout star (for my money) Steve Gerben and the director (John) McKeever.

In Tires, Will (Gerben), the “nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain,” attempts to turn his father’s tire-shop business around “despite constant torture from his cousin,” Shane (Gillis), the synopsis reads. Shane is also Will’s employee.

In season two, after the success of Will’s and Shane’s big marketing idea — to sell tires to their customers at cost (and upsell them on other repair services) — the two “rush to grow personally and professionally without fully realizing the cost of doing business,” per Netflix. Per me, they don’t really grow personally or professionally,...

Shane Gillis Comedy ‘Tires’ Renewed for Season 3 at Netflix
Shane Gillis and Steve Gerben in Tires (2024)
Shane Gillis’ comedy series “Tires” has been renewed for Season 3 at Netflix, Variety has learned.

The news comes just under a month after the premiere of Season 2, which launched on Netflix on June 5. Gillis self-financed the six-episode first season of “Tires,” with Netflix acquiring the show as part of a deal that included him getting another stand up special at the streamer.

Season 3 of “Tires” will premiere on Netflix in 2026. Along with Gillis, the cast includes Steven Gerben, Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Stavros Halkias. Guest stars in Season 2 included Andrew Schulz, Vince Vaughn, Thomas Haden Church, Ron White, Jon Lovitz, Veronika Slowikowska, and Steph Tolev.

‘Street Fighter’ Movie At Legendary Adds Andrew Schulz To Cast
Image
Exclusive: Legendary’s feature adaptation of the Capcom video game Street Fighter is getting a strong boost of comic relief as sources tell Deadline that Andrew Schulz has joined the cast. While not confirmed, sources say he will play the character Dan Hibiki.

He joins a cast that includes the previously announced Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns and Orville Peck. Bad Trip‘s Kitao Sakurai is the director.

Reps for Legendary had no comment and the plot details remain under wraps.

First appearing in Street Fighter Alpha in 1995, Hibiki is consistently portrayed as an overconfident, arrogant and utterly feeble character. The role seems perfect for Schulz given his comedic background that has made him one of today’s biggest stand-up acts. While this role will lean heavy on the comedy, don’t be surprised if Schulz gets a chance to throw down like his fellow co-stars.

Bert Kreischer to Topline Netflix Sitcom
Image
Bert Kreischer has made five stand-up specials for Netflix, and now he’s taking the time-honored path trod by many comedians: starring in a sitcom.

Kreischer will play the title role in and is a co-creator of Free Bert, a six-episode comedy the streamer has ordered. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (The Grinder, Huge in France) co-created the show with Kreischer and will serve as showrunners, writers and directors. The cast also includes Arden Myrin, Lilou Lang and Ava Ryan.

In Free Bert, Kreischer will play a version of himself — a “shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard,” as the show’s logline puts it. He finds himself in unfamiliar territory when his daughters (Lang and Ryan) are accepted at an elite private school in Beverly Hills. When his antics turn the family into outcasts, he decides to put a shirt on and stifle his true self in order to fit in.

Bert Kreischer Comedy Series Ordered By Netflix; Arden Myrin & Ava Ryan Co-Star
Image
Netflix has been slowly evolving into what broadcast networks have stood for — offering a broad spectrum of entertainment for everyone. After adding procedurals to its portfolio of original offerings, the global streamer also has been taking a page from the broadcast comedy playbook by building series around stand-ups and their lives and material.

Following Shane Gillis’ Tires, Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest and Leanne Morgan’s upcoming Leanne, Netflix has greenlighted Free Bert, a six-episode scripted comedy series starring, co-created and executive produced by Bert Kreischer, who has done six stand-up specials for the streamer.

Fellow actor-comedian Arden Myrin (The Righteous Gemstones) also stars in the series along with newcomers Ava Ryan — who has a big social media footprint with 3.3M followers — and Lilou Lang. Free Bert is co-created and executive produced by Kreischer as well as Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, who serve as writers,...

Shane Gillis to Host 2025 Espy Awards
Image
Comedian Shane Gillis played one season of Division I college football at little-known Elon University in North Carolina. On Wednesday, July 16, the former offensive tackle recruited by West Point (which he attended before quickly transferring out; Gillis is not really the Army type) will host the 2025 ESPYs, the ESPN awards show celebrating athletes that stuck it out a bit longer. It’s all good — Gillis is doing just fine for himself.

Gillis’ Netflix comedy Tires premiered its second season earlier this month; as of the latest available data from the streamer, the show is still hanging around in the top 10.

“I’m excited to be at The ESPYs this year,” Gillis said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “I like sports, so this should be a good time.”

Image
Netflix's new Handmaid's Tale-like series, Baby Farm, has climbed the Top 10 TV charts days after its debut. Arriving on June 20, the Nigerian drama series follows a pregnant woman named Adanna (Onyinye Odokoro), who discovers a sinister baby farm operation, where women are exploited and forced to have babies on demand, drawing comparison to the Elisabeth Moss-led Hulu series. Baby Farm's cast of characters also includes Folu Storms as Joy, Jenny Stead as Sister Barb, Langley Kirkwood as Doctor Evans, and Uzoamaka Onuoha as Comfort.

According to FlixPatrol, Baby Farm is the no.5 top TV show on streaming today, only three days after its debut. ‘Tires’ Exposes the Rotten Tomatoes Trend That Doomed The Crown S6 and The Crowded Room
Image
In today’s world, where streaming platforms dominate, a bad Rotten Tomatoes score can make or break a show. But what happens when critics and audiences completely disagree on a project? The latest example of this growing divide is Tires, a Netflix comedy featuring Shane Gillis. While critics have completely sidelined it, fans can’t seem to stop watching.

What’s also interesting is that this same critic–audience gap hurt high-profile series like The Crown Season 6 and The Crowded Room as well. Let’s break down how Tires has exposed a deeper problem in TV reviews – and why it matters now more than ever.

The Crown S6 and The Crowded Room Faced the Same Rotten Tomatoes Problem as Tires

When The Crown returned for its sixth and final season, fans were absolutely thrilled. After all, this series had dominated the awards season with its strong storytelling and great ensemble.

Hollywood Insider - Amazon & Roku Strike Ad Pact That Could Redefine Streaming Monetization

The landmark deal gives brands access to 80% of U.S. connected‑TV households, signaling a shift in how Hollywood streamers reach—and profit from—viewers. Streaming Just Got Smarter At this year’s Cannes Lions Festival—a global event where media, advertising, and entertainment collide—Amazon and Roku quietly announced something that could change how streaming makes money. The two tech giants are teaming up to launch a new advertising platform. According to 'Deadline', it will give companies access to 80% of homes with connected TVs in the U.S., leveraging both Amazon and Roku’s massive reach. This means ads will appear not just on Prime Video or the Roku Channel, but across many popular streaming services that use Roku or Fire TV. The partnership goes live in late 2025, but early tests are already showing promising results:...

This HBO Show Is Still the 4th Most Popular In America Weeks After Its Finale
Image
HBO is home to some great movies and shows. Originally founded in 1972, HBO became the first premium service cable channel. Since then, the provider has branched out by adding the streaming service Max. Some of the most popular HBO shows include classics like The Sopranos and Sex and the City. Newer hits like The White Lotus and Euphoria can also be found on the soon-to-be retitled HBO Max. However, many would consider its most popular series to be Game of Thrones, despite the much-maligned final season.

With so many options available to watch on streaming and cable, competition is higher than it's ever been to find viewership. This has advantages and disadvantages as the television landscape continues to change. While there is a glut of material to choose from, many shows don't get the chance to find their footing or their audience before being cancelled. Famously, Seinfeld barely made it...

Image
Though there's no confirmation on The Waterfront'srenewal just yet, the writer behind the series has a future for it in mind. The Waterfront premiered on Netflix on June 19 and has already become an instant streaming hit, reaching #1 on the platform's charts. Despite the series' 67% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, it's immediately proven to be popular with audiences. Stars Jake Weary (Animal Kingdom), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Holt McCallany (Mindhunter), and Maria Bello (Prisoners) lead the cast. Showrunner Kevin Williamson is known for his work on the Scream franchise, Dawson's Creek, The Vampire Diaries, and more.

During an interview with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan for The Waterfront, creator Kevin Williamson revealed that he already has a whole second and third season planned out. Williamson is evidently passionate about the series, and after his experience writing season 1, has a feel for the actors and their characters, guiding where he can take them going forward.

Netflix's Replacement For Kevin James' One Season Racecar Flop Boasts an Impressive Season 2 Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
The second season of Tires hit Netflix at the start of this month, but the show has stretched its legs and found extended success well beyond what anyone was expecting. At the time of writing, Shane Gillis’ comedy series, which has drawn comparisons to Kevin James' The Crew, is still sitting comfortably in the Netflix top 10 in the fifth spot. Although it’s dropped a bit and given up its spot to newer arrivals like Ginny & Georgia, two straight weeks in the top 10 is still something to be proud of. Tires Season 2 saw an increase in its Rotten Tomatoes scores from both critics and audiences. Season 1 debuted with 40% from critics and 87% from audiences on the aggregate site, while Season 2 turned up the heat with 71% from critics and 93% from audiences.

In addition to Shane Gillis, Tires also stars Steve Gerben as Will, Chris O’Connor as Cal, Kilah Fox as Kilah, Stavros Halkias as Dave Louvopolis,...

"It's Like A Narcos Spin-Off": Netflix's New True Crime Series Becomes U.S. Streaming Success Days After Release
Image
Netflix has a new true-crime series that's been a massive hit in the US, with comparisons to the popular crime drama Narcos. Narcos explored the world of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, a subject that continuously fascinates American audiences decades after the notorious criminal's death in 1993. Though the Narcos franchise seems to have ended with 2018's Narcos: Mexico, it continues to be one of the most influential Netflix releases, credited for capitalizing on and dramatizing a real-world fixation.

Netflix's TV library maintains a variety of genres for audiences to explore, including various true-crime titles. The platform now has new competition for Narcos, El Chapo, and other shows like it, with a new series quickly finding success in the streaming service's algorithm, perpetuating the allure of drug-smuggling-related stories.

Despite Better Rt Scores, 2 Returning Netflix Original Shows See Big Viewership Decline
Image
Streaming is often a gamble. Streaming platforms like Netflix, which release a lot of original shows, run the risk of some titles getting lost in the deep sea of original content.

It looks like Fubar and Tires are experiencing this phenomenon. The Arnold Schwarzenegger-led action comedy and the Shane Gillis comedy both returned with Season 2 after underwhelming premiere seasons. Even with an improvement in scores, Tudum reports that the two shows fell under the radar and didn't make much of an impact globally, and saw a viewership decline compared to Season 1.

For the week between June 9 and 15, Ginny & Georgia was crowned the absolute leader again. The show brought in another 16.9 million views and 178.2 million hours viewed, almost equaling the previous week's numbers. The critically acclaimed murder mystery limited series The Survivors went up from No. 4 to No. 2, with Sirens in third place, Dept. Q in fourth, and Ginny...

Netflix Renews Dark Comedy For Season 2 After First Season Divided Critics & Audiences
Image
Netflix has renewed Tom Segura's dark comedy sketch series Bad Thoughts for a second season despite receiving a critic score of just 54% on Rotten Tomatoes. Segura led the cast of Bad Thoughts, playing various characters in concept-themed episodes ranging from "Success" and "Family" to "Love" and Health." Bad Thoughts can feel like a twisted TV-ma version of Saturday Night Live, featuring multiple sketches throughout that each have unique and often vulgar twists. Season 1 of the dark comedy series premiered on May 13, 2025 and can be streamed exclusively on Netflix.

Variety exclusively reported the news of Bad Thoughts season 2 renewal. The announcement came along with a statement from Segura that reads, "We’re all so excited to push things further with Season 2. I promise your family will not approve of what we do." Although Bad Thoughts season 2 currently has no set release date on Netflix, it could be released sometime later this year,...

Tyler Perry’s ‘Straw’ Scores Biggest Netflix Movie Audience of 2025 With Nearly 50 Million Views in 2nd Week
Image
Tyler Perry’s “Straw” nearly doubled its viewership in its second week on Netflix to score the biggest audience a Netflix movie has seen so far in 2025.

“Straw” tallied up 48.9 million views on Netflix during the week of June 9 — a 93.3% increase in viewership from last week, when the movie opened to a viewership of 25.3 million views in its first three days on the streamer.

Last week’s audience pushed “Straw” to rank as Netflix’s most-watched movie during the week of June 2, and this week’s audience not only helped “Straw” maintain the top spot on Netflix’s top 10 most-watched movie list, but also pushed “Straw” to capture the biggest weekly audience of any movie on Netflix this year.

“Straw” by far outpaced viewership for “Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster,” which came in as the No. 2 most-watched movie of the week with 17.4 million views, which still marked an impressive debut for the documentary.

Despite Its Rotten Tomatoes Score, Tyler Perry's New Netflix Thriller Has Spent a Week at the Top of Their Charts
Image
Netflix debuted its new thriller film, Straw, on the platform last Friday, and the film has hit its stride with a legendary run of streaming success. Straw stars Taraji P. Henson and follows a single mother as she finds herself wandering down a path she never envisioned for herself, suddenly in the middle of suspicion in an indifferent world. Straw hit Netflix on June 6, and the film is still the most popular movie on the streamer, sitting at #1 at the time of writing. What makes this even more impressive is that the film has not been particularly well-received by critics or audiences. Straw currently sits at a “rotten” 50% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and even the audience-driven Popcornmeter lands at a 74%.

Straw was written and directed by Tyler Perry, and it also stars Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor, Sinbad, Glynn Turman, and more. Perry will always be known for his work on the Madea franchise,...

Before Saving the Shop in ‘Tires’ Season 2, Thomas Haden Church Hadn’t Heard of the Show
Image
Planes, Saddles and Automobiles.

Thomas Haden Church began his acting career as the lovable airplane mechanic Lowell Mather on the beloved ‘90s NBC sitcom Wings. As Phil on Netflix comedy Tires season two, he’s the one (gently) bossing the grease monkeys around, including his on-screen son Shane Gillis.

Church is happy to talk about being on both ends of the socket wrench, though really he’s at his happiest relaying the cattle count on his Texas ranch. It’s all good — I mostly wanted to talk about Tombstone (1993).

How aware of Tires season one were you?

Not at all. And I had a connection with an executive at Rough House Pictures, Danny McBride’s company (and a Tires production company), because I had another project that they were considering doing like three years ago — something that my partner and I had written. But I got to know this executive Brandon James,...

‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 3 Scores Massive Viewership After Series-High Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
The third season of Ginny & Georgia has been streaming on Netflix for less than a week, but newly announced viewership information proves the show has been a major hit. Ginny & Georgia Season 3 earned 17.6 million viewers during its first four days on the streamer, making it the most-watched TV show of last week. This latest season’s release also encouraged fans to check out Seasons 1 and 2, which finished the week as the sixth and ninth-most-watched shows with 3 million and 2.5 million viewers, respectively. This smashing viewership from Ginny & Georgia comes not long after the show earned a 70% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 82% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter, both series-high scores for the hit Netflix series.

There have been 30 episodes of Ginny & Georgia through three seasons, and due to the show having such a well-rounded cast, nine members of the ensemble have featured in every installment thus far. Leading...
