New Amsterdam‘s Tyler Labine is currently in the hospital recovering after suffering from a “potentially fatal blood clot.”

He announced his hospitalization on social media after believing he had a simple stomachache. He posted a video that featured several clips of him in an ambulance and at the hospital.

He updated fans saying, “Sometimes it’s a Tuesday and you’re walking around with a tummy ache so you try to sleep it off. Then sometimes you wake up on a Weds with a stomach ache so bad you decide to go to the ER at your local hospital. And then sometimes your tummy ache turns out to be a potentially fatal blood clot in your intestines and liver and you have to spend the next 3 days in the hospital trying not to die. Just sometimes.”

He reassured fans that he is expected to be okay and is currently in recovery.

The actor recently spent three days in the hospital after suffering a potentially fatal blood clot, he shared on Instagram. Labine reveals that he woke up with a bad stomachache and went to the ER, and “sometimes your tummy ache turns out to be a potentially fatal blood clot in your intestines and liver and you have to spend the next 3 days in the hospital trying not to die.”

Catherine Hardwicke, the filmmaker of “Twilight” and “Thirteen,” is directing the movie, which is expected to begin production in Italy in late spring 2022. Debbie Jhoon and J. Michael Feldman wrote the screenplay. The cast also includes Monica Bellucci and Rob Huebel.

Exclusive: Verve is becoming a full-service agency with the launch of a talent team, which will be led by top TV talent agent Sean Grumman. He is leaving WME, where he was a partner in the talent department, to join Verve where he will become the agency’s 8th partner. WME and CAA alum Grumman will bring in other talent agents to build the Verve talent team.

This marks another step in the evolution of Verve, which was launched 10 years ago by WME motion picture lit agents Bill Weinstein, Bryan Besser and Adam Levine. The agency soon expanded into TV lit, and over the last few years also built up an alternative TV operation.

The eight-episode series is being produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios. It will be taken to market in the coming days. It is based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad.

CBS TV Studios optioned the article in June of 2019. Dan Lagana will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer under his overall deal at CBS TV Studios with Paul Young executive producing via Make Good Content. Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Samie Kim Falvey will executive produce for Imagine. Cage will executive produce via Saturn Films. Scott Brown and Megan Creydt will executive produce for Texas Monthly. Imagine’s James Seidman and Natalie Berkus are overseeing the project for the company.

Quibi has released a new trailer for its upcoming comedy Dummy. This is just one of many, many high-profile shows that the upstart streaming service has coming down the pipeline. The gimmick, for those that aren't familiar, is that Quibi produces short-form content designed to be viewed on a mobile device. In this case, they've enlisted Pitch Perfect favorite Anna Kendrick to star in a comedy from creator Cody Heller of Deadbeat fame. Specifically, Kendrick is paling around with a life-sized sex doll.

The trailer opens up with Anna Kendrick making out with her older boyfriend. During which time, she discovers something strange on his bed. This leads to the reveal that he has a life-like sex doll. Liam Hemsworth is set to star in an action thriller for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s short-form video platform Quibi, from Scorpion creator Nick Santora, producer Gordon Gray, Silver Reel Pictures and CBS Television Studios.

Santora will write and executive produce the series. Emmy-nominated director Phil Abraham (Mad Men) will direct and also executive produce.

In the series, desperate to take care of his pregnant wife before a terminal illness can take his life, Dodge Maynard (Hemsworth) accepts an offer to participate in a deadly game where he soon discovers that he’s not the hunter… but the prey. The action-thriller explores the limits of how far someone would go to fight for their life and their family. Let the games begin.

Exclusive: Search Party‘s Meredith Hagner has been cast opposite Anna Kendrick and Donal Logue in Dummy, a comedy for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s short-form video platform Quibi from Deadbeat co-creator Cody Heller and independent studio wiip.

Created by Heller, Dummy is a buddy comedy that follows Cody, an aspiring writer (Kendrick) and her boyfriend’s (Logue) sex doll, Barbara (Hagner). It will be a serialized movie-length story told in chapters of under 10 minutes in length.

Hagner’s Barbara is an inanimate sex doll. Only able to be heard by Cody (Kendrick), Barbara (a self-proclaimed “feminist”) is a spoiled, jealous, and manipulative valley girl who will do whatever it takes to get her way. After she is discarded by her original owner, she convinces Cody to take her home so that she can be the inspiration to help cure Cody’s writers block.

Saturday Night Live veterans Paula Pell, John Lutz, Lorne Michaels and Seth Meyers are teaming on Mapleworth Murders, a comedic murder mystery series for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s short-form video platform Quibi. Universal TV is the studio.

Written by and starring Pell and Lutz, Mapleworth Murders centers around Abigail Mapleworth, played by Pell, a murder-mystery writer who solves homicides in her quaint small town of New Woodstream. Each episode of the comedic crime procedural will feature guest victims and suspects as we answer the bigger question of the series: why the hell are there so many murders in one small town?

Mapleworth Murders is produced by Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and Sethmaker Shoemeyers. Broadway Video’s Michaels and Andrew Singer executive produce with Sethmaker Shoemeyers’ Meyers and Mike Shoemaker. Hilary Marx and Jason Carden co-executive produce.

Pell wrote on SNL for 20 years and scripted Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s feature Sisters.

Don Cheadle, Emily Mortimer and Helena Howard are set to star in Don’t Look Deeper, a sci-fi drama series for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s short-form video platform Quibi. The series is a co-production between New Form, a Whistle-owned company, and Doug Liman’s 30 Ninjas for Quibi. Catherine Hardwicke is attached to direct and executive produce.

Co-written by Lost co-creator Jeffrey Lieber, who also serves as showrunner, and Charlie McDonnell, Don’t Look Deeper is set in Merced, California, “fifteen minutes into the future.” It centers on a high school senior who can’t seem to shake the feeling that something about her just isn’t right. “Pitch Perfect” star Anna Kendrick has signed on to star in the short-form comedy series “Dummy” for Quibi, a spokesperson for the video platform confirmed Friday.

Created by “Deadbeat” and “Kidding” veteran Cody Heller, the buddy comedy centers on a writer and her boyfriend’s sex doll. In keeping with Quibi’s concept of short, digestible episodic storytelling, each installment of the series will be 10 minutes or shorter.

Tricia Brock is attached to the project as a director and executive producer. Kendrick will also executive produce.

Dummy had been originally developed as a TV pilot. The script was subsequently rewritten as a film and then diced up into 10-minute segments to fit into the concept of Quibi (quick bites).

Back in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s I was (over)active on the bootleg video circuit. One of the directors I discovered in my dealings with other collectors was Jim Van Bebber. His Deadbeat at Dawn was a legend almost immediately after it was released, and his reputation was solidified by a handful of short films which traumatized heretofore steel-bellied horror movie viewers. Even in slightly blurry, multi-generational bootleg copies, his films carried a wallop not felt very often. They were energetic, raw, no-holds-barred and outrageously gory. They had to be seen to be believed.

Fast-forward to the present and Van Bebber is one of a handful of Diy film mavericks, along with Bill Lustig, Frank Henenlotter, Sam Raimi, Buddy Giovinazzo and their ilk, now revered for their hardcore 80’s output. But of this group, perhaps Van Bebber stands just a little taller for his extreme persistence.

It’s a damn good week to be a Stephen King fan, that is for sure, because we have two must-own Blu-ray releases coming out on Tuesday, perfect for some inspired Halloween-time viewings. First up, Scream Factory has put together a Collector’s Edition of Creepshow that is just utterly phenomenal, and there’s also the long overdue Blu for Maximum Overdrive that’s coming out as part of the Vestron Video Collector’s Series.

Warner Bros. is developing “Coyote Vs. Acme” as a Wile E. Coyote animated movie with “Lego Batman” director Chris McKay on board to produce.

The sibling team of Jon and Josh Silberman, whose writing and producing credits include “Living Biblically,” “Bordertown,” “Deadbeat,” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” have been hired by the studio to write the “Coyote Vs. Acme” script.

Wile E. Coyote is part of Warner’s Looney Tunes characters, which include Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, and Marvin the Martian. The dialogue-free Coyote character first appeared in 1949 in “Fast and Furry-ous,” the first of 49 cartoons in which he was never able to catch the Road Runner, despite using complex devices from the fictitious Acme Corporation. The Acme contraptions invariably fail, leaving the Coyote squashed flat or burnt to a crisp.
