Aubrey Plaza’s call sheet is about to get a lot longer, as she’s come on to produce and star in “The Heidi Fleiss Story.”
Plaza will portray the infamous “Hollywood madame” Heidi Fleiss, busted in early ‘90s for what was said to be the world’s largest high-end prostitution ring – which implicated Hollywood, politicians and other power figures.
The project marks the directorial debut of Leah Rachel (creator of Netflix’s “Chambers”}. The film hails from Pinky Promise, Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett’s production company.
Heatseeking actress and Gen Z icon Racel Sennott co-wrote the script with Rachel and Travis Jackson. Their take on the tabloid sensation follows Fleiss before trial, scrambling around Los Angeles trying to blackmail and leverage various connections to get the case dropped, with the help of an aspiring young writer named Jaclyn.
Production is set for Los Angeles and will take place this year.

Few actresses have demonstrated such versatility across genres as Jamie Lee Curtis, and her new legacy comedy only proves it. While Curtis is best known for her horror movies, such as the Halloween franchise, which initially launched her to widespread fame, she has also long proven herself to be a brilliant addition to prominent comedy projects.
Her comedic breakthrough came in 1983's Trading Places — in which she starred alongside Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd — earning her a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Following this, Jamie Lee Curtis also starred in the comedy A Fish Called Wanda in the leading role. However, it was 2003's Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan that truly cemented Curtis' comedic status.

Pamela Anderson doesn't get enough credit for being a pretty decent comedic performer. One of her earliest acting gigs in the 1990s was a stint on "Home Improvement," which she left to star on "Baywatch." Similarly, as /Film's own Ethan Anderton noted in his review, she's "perfectly cast" in 2025's "The Naked Gun," bringing the laughs alongside Liam Neeson. But comedy can be tricky for anyone, especially when dealing with subpar material, like in 2008's "Blonde and Blonder."
As you can likely assess from the title, the film plays off the Jim Carrey classic "Dumb and Dumber." The two films have nothing to do with one another other than the names being similar and placing an emphasis on buffoonish people. Seeing how "Blondes are dumb" jokes were all the rage in the 2000s, Anderson and Denise Richards star as Dee Twiddle and Dawn St. Dom, respectively, two women who become...

Theatrical comedy is perhaps the genre that has struggled the most at the box office as the film industry has sought to recover in the aftermath of the lockdown era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite that, Paramount Pictures decided to give it the ol' college try with a reboot of "The Naked Gun," which hit theaters this past weekend. Mercifully, the movie got off to a decent start, but it's also still got a long way to go before we can declare it an out-and-out success.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer, "The Naked Gun" opened to $17 million domestically, coming in at number three on the charts. Though it dropped rather hard, Marvel's "The Fantastic First: First Steps" stayed at number one with $40 million, with Universal's animated sequel "The Bad Guys 2" landing in the number two spot with $22.2 million. This to say, it was a crowded weekend. Be that as it may,...

The Naked Gun Box Office: Liam Neeson’s Reboot Nets $28.5M(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Liam Neeson has returned to theaters in a big way with The Naked Gun; with it, the comedy genre is breathing again. After years without a major box office win, Neeson is finally front and center in a film that is clicking with both critics and moviegoers.
R-rated comedies have not had much success on the big screen lately, usually landing on streaming with forgettable results. Sony gave it a try earlier with No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence, which managed around $80 million worldwide. Now, Paramount is stepping in with this reboot, helmed by Akiva Schaffer and backed by Seth MacFarlane.
The Naked Gun is fucking phenomenal – I literally spent 85 minutes laughing non-stop. More of this Liam Neeson, please, and Pamela? She absolutely Ate. Comedy of the year, no notes. I need more of this energy Asap!

Internationally, it added another $11.5 million, pushing its first weekend global haul to $28.5 million. With a production budget of $42 million, it’s considered a solid launch for a genre that rarely sees big-screen success anymore.
Liam Neeson stars as the bumbling Los Angeles police officer Frank Drebin Jr., stepping into a role made famous by the original trilogy. The film’s reception has been overwhelmingly positive.
Rotten Tomatoes shows that 90% of 207 critics’ reviews are favorable, with the site’s consensus stating, “With Liam Neeson’s gravelly gravitas proving to be a perfect fit for Frank Drebin’s deadpan buffoonery, The Naked Gun revives the original trilogy’s daffy sense of humor like it never went out of style.

Pamela Anderson‘s heart may be fluttering for Liam Neeson right now, but did you know that the ‘Baywatch’ actress has been married a total of five times in her lifetime? And out of those 5 marriages, 2 of them were with Rick Salomon.
Who is Rick Salomon? Well, Salomon is best known for his poker skills as a high-stakes poker player. He also found himself in the spotlight due to a s*x tape with Paris Hilton and his high-profile marriages.
Anderson’s third marriage was to Salomon, and the two of them tied the knot at a hotel in Las Vegas in October 2007. Less than ten weeks later, they decided that it wasn’t working out for them, and Anderson filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
After a lot of confusion surrounding the status of their relationship, both Salomon and Anderson filed for annulment, which the court finally granted on March 24, 2008.

Review: I did something I hadn’t done in a long time at the early screening of The Naked Gun I attended earlier this week — I laughed myself silly in a movie theatre. It’s been years since I’ve seen a movie this funny theatrically, and boy did I miss the sound of a theatre full of people cackling so loud I occasionally missed a joke. I’ve missed comedy, and this was a really good one.
I’ll admit, I was wary of a Naked Gun reboot. I love the original movies (even the much-maligned third), but it’s been a while since anyone did a laugh-a-minute spoof like this. That said, director Akiva Schaffer turned out to be the right guy to tackle the formula.

Pamela Anderson makes her feelings clear on Pam & Tommy dramatizing parts of her life, and has the perfect response. Anderson has made a big comeback in the past year and can be seen next in The Naked Gun, opposite Liam Neeson. Anderson also starred in Gia Coppola's acclaimed 2024 drama film, The Last Showgirl.
While Anderson may be enjoying her time in the spotlight at the moment, she was less than flattered by her portrayal in the media just a few years earlier. There was a time in the 1990s when Pamela Anderson was one of the most famous people on the face of the planet. Thanks to her breakout role on "Baywatch" and her brief but memorable time on the hit sitcom "Home Improvement," Anderson shot to fame like a rocket, even reaching true global superstardom levels when she married rock drummer Tommy Lee of Motley Crue fame. That whole saga, and the infamous leaked sex tape that followed, was previously documented in the 2022 Hulu miniseries "Pam & Tommy," which was met with a great deal of acclaim. Only one man has the particular set of skills to carry on the legacy of Police Squad — and save the world.
Liam Neeson steps into the role of Frank Drebin Jr. in director Akiva Schaffer’s fresh spin on The Naked Gun, Paramount's revival of the iconic slapstick comedy franchise originally led by Leslie Nielsen. This fourth installment in the series features a star-studded cast, including Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston. The story centers on Drebin, who must fill his legendary father’s shoes to prevent the closure of Police Squad.
Early buzz from critics suggests the franchise might just reclaim its signature mix of laugh-out-loud absurdity and crime-fighting hijinks. The comedy is already earning rave reviews, currently boasting a "certified fresh" status on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive 90 percent aggregate critics score. Could this be the revival fans have been waiting for? The signs are looking promising.

It's been a little while since we've had a pure comedy for the sake of comedy movie in theaters, but that's all about to change with the release of "The Naked Gun." This is a reboot/sequel based on the very popular series of comedies starring Leslie Nielsen from the '80s and '90s. This time around, it's "Taken" star Liam Neeson leading the way as Frank Drebin Jr. as the head of Police Squad. Though he's known more as an action star over the course of the last 20 years, Neeson now has his sights set on saving theatrical comedy, with the help of a stacked cast and a director with a knack for being very, very funny.
So, do the laughs extend into the credits? Or s it time to make a break for the lobby when the credits roll? Credits scenes have become very common these days...

General audiences at multiplexes likely will not be able to tell that the dead-on spoof of a movie trailer that opens the new reboot of ’80s classic The Naked Gun is actually part of the film itself as it no doubt will have just followed 25 minutes of real trailers, but it is an inspired beginning as star Liam Neeson shows up to plead for the return of comedy to theaters, an endangered species he goes on to detail by name-checking numerous funny films of a distant past and encouraging moviegoers to support the comedy of their choice — if they can find it.
The sad thing is that it is not just a spoof. The style of Lol-, hit-the-wall-with-a-barrage-of-laugh-lines-for-85-minutes-straight comedy has become something of a rarity in theaters, where the sound of laughter can be contagious if experienced communally. Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler are relegated to streamers these days.

Say what you will about Akiva Schaffer’s latest film — and I’m about to say some very nice stuff — but one thing is for sure: “The Naked Gun” is funny. It’s very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very funny. Very.
And it damn well better be. The original “Naked Gun” movies, like “Police Squad!” (the short-lived TV series they spun out of), were high-powered machine guns that used gags for ammo. Broadly speaking, the box office has been on shaky ground over the last handful of years. Ever since the pandemic shut down theaters all across the world for months on end in 2020, the industry has been in a constant state of flux. Streaming has upended all traditional logic, and Hollywood is increasingly trying to hit a smaller moving target. One of the biggest genres that has become a question mark in the modern era is comedy, specifically of the theatrical variety. The question is, can "The Naked Gun," a new take on the Leslie Nielsen classic, help save comedies at the box office?
As of this writing, director Akiva Schaffer's "The Naked Gun," which is produced by "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, is looking at a debut between $23 and $32 million when it arrives in theaters next weekend, per Box Office Theory. For what it's worth, even on the low end,...

In 2022, as the Pamela Anderson renaissance was in its infancy, the former “Baywatch” star dipped her toe into live performance. Well, toe-dip is an understatement. She jumped right into the water, starring as Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of “Chicago.” As that song-and-dance performance earned raves, it comes as no surprise that Anderson is now showing off her vocal chops once again — this time with what is sure to be a memorable jazz scat number in “The Naked Gun,” out August 1 in theaters.
“I was like, ‘How am I going to remember this?’ It’s an absolutely nutty scat solo,” Anderson told Entertainment Weekly. “But I did, and I sing it all the time, just walking around the house. I can’t get it out of my head.”
The song has an appropriately “Naked Gun” title, “Sassafras Chicken in D,” and it was written by Elizabeth Gillies and Joel McNeely.

Rome’s Il Cinema in Piazza summer screenings series has wrapped its annual six-week event with more than 120,000 spectators including Al Pacino who showed up to catch Bennett Miller’s “Foxcatcher,” introduced by the director and star Mark Ruffalo.
The unique program featuring 94 free screenings in three outdoor venues, plus the indoor Cinema Troisi arthouse venue, is run by Rome’s Piccolo America nonprofit association, a feisty group of young film buffs who have been fighting to stave off the impending threat that a substantial portion of Rome’s movie theaters could be converted into shopping centers and supermarkets. Martin Scorsese is among their supporters.
Now at its 11th edition, Cinema in Piazza this year stepped up the number of special events, bringing a slew of national and international talents to its stages, including Gia Coppola who came to present “Palo Alto” and “The Last Showgirl”; “Eddington” director Ari Aster...

It was a sad day in 2016 when the world and Star Wars fandom heard of the passing of Carrie Fisher. The actress who brought Princess Leia to life was adorned by millions. Now her daughter is continuing her legacy.
Billie Lourd is building her career while also honoring the Princess in all our hearts. Lourd made her acting debut in The Force Awakens and was a part of the cast of the sequel trilogy. She portrayed Resistance officer Lieutenant Connix.
Her role and screen time went up in each film, which displays her acting ability that was seen by both JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson. In The Rise of Skywalker, she was able to portray Princess Leia, honoring her late mother in the film.

Liam Neeson's The Naked Gun isn't pulling punches based on the trailers, which echo the irreverent, slapstick comedy of the original. Here's what audiences can expect from the reboot, according to Andy Samberg from Saturday Night Live.
One of TV's best comedians just weighed in on The Naked Gun reboot, and things are looking bright for the franchise. Andy Samberg told ScreenRant the film is best experienced in packed theaters. "Everyone I've seen it with all walked out saying the same thing, which is, like, 'I didn't realize how much I missed that feeling of a pure, silly comedy that's all jokes, wall to wall, in a theater,'" he said. Samberg is no stranger to slapstick and improv, having starred for seven years in Saturday Night Live.
Samberg is also part of the comedy trio The Lonely Island, along with Jorma Taccone and The Naked Gun director Akiva Schaffer.

While fans (and embittered directors) may be somewhat skeptical about the upcoming reboot of The Naked Gun, the movie does boast an impressive cast, including Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr., Cch Pounder as the new Police Squad chief and Pamela Anderson as the femme fatale sister of a possible murder victim.
From what we’ve seen so far, Anderson, fresh off of receiving rave reviews for her performance in last year’s The Last Showgirl, seems to fit in perfectly with the seriously silly world of The Naked Gun. This makes sense, considering that she’s previously appeared in other Zaz-style parody movies like Scary Movie 3 and Superhero Movie.
But Anderson likely wouldn’t have gotten the gig had she starred in one of the original Naked Gun films, which, apparently, came very close to happening.

For her next role, Pamela Anderson is cutting loose. Earlier this year, the actor made a major comeback with a stellar turn in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, displaying significant dramatic chops and entering awards consideration. Soon, though, she’s trading seriousness for silliness in The Naked Gun, starring opposite Liam Neeson in Akiva Schaffer’s reboot-quel. While Neeson is playing Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen’s original cop, Anderson is Beth – a femme fatale who has Drebin investigating the murder of her brother.
For Anderson, starring in a Naked Gun film is something of a full-circle moment – since she nearly made an appearance in the original trilogy decades ago, in 1994’s The Naked Gun 33 1/3. “The part that Anna Nicole [Smith] played, I almost played,” Anderson reveals to Empire. “It was just scheduling. I couldn’t do it. But it’s good: I’d rather play this role.

Thursday’s announcement that Anna Wintour would be stepping away from her day-to-day duties at American Vogue elicited a frenzy rarely seen in media news these days — though the headlines in many cases overemphasized the idea of a departure versus the realignment of her role at Condé Nast. The legendary editrix is not departing the publishing behemoth that counts 28 international editions of Vogue among its considerable stable of magazines, as she still retains a pair of powerhouse titles: chief content officer for Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue.
Instead, the hunt is now on to name the person who will oversee American Vogue’s day-to-day duties, a role that also comes with a new title: head of editorial content. In that respect, the shift indeed justifies the “end of an era” discourse, as Wintour has held the editor-in-chief title for 37 years, following two years as editor of British...

It’s taken two decades, a galaxy-saving raccoon, a sandworm-ridden desert planet, and a few busted noses — but Dave Bautista is finally getting his rom-com moment.
Paramount Pictures has picked up The Romantic, a new comedy from Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, with Bautistaofficially set to star. And for the Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune actor, it’s not just another gig — it’s the role he’s been manifesting for years.
“I’ve never had an offer to do a rom-com,” Bautista told Page Six in 2023. “I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep searching.” Looks like the search is over. Bautista has never fit the traditional mold of the romantic comedy lead — and he knows it. “I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead,” he admitted. “I’m a little rough around the edges. Samuel L. Jackson is the most successful actor of all time measured purely in terms of the amount of money his movies have brought in at the box office. From his continued work as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to cinematic classics like "Pulp Fiction," audiences have turned up to see him do his thing on the big screen for decades. Unfortunately, his latest cinematic foray didn't arrive with the level of fanfare he's accustomed to.
Directed by Richard Gray, Roadside Attractions' "The Unholy Trinity" opened this past weekend at the box office, though one would be forgiven for not noticing. It grossed just $559,610 on 771 screens, making for a downright terrible $725 per-screen average. For context, "How to Train Your Dragon" brought in $83.7 million on 4,356 screens for a $19,214 per-screen average. While nobody was expecting this Western to do DreamWorks business, the end result leaves much to be desired for all involved.

“The Nanny” star and SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher, Jane Seymour, Luke Wilson and Joe Manganiello are the latest additions to the robust roster of Hollywood stars set to attend the upcoming eighth edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna festival, which will be held June 19-22 on the island of Sardinia.
Sarah Michelle Geller, Andy Serkis and the “The O.C.” star Mischa Barton are also expected to make the trek to the event, which combines film and TV with an emphasis on women in the biz and creating a bridge between the Italian and U.S. film industries.
As previously announced, Alec Baldwin — who has recently been seen in the ill-fated Western “Rust” and in numerous appearances on “Saturday Night Live” — and Heather Graham are also headed to Sardinia, where they will be members of the fest’s jury dedicated to short films by female directors.

From the files of the Police Squad, “The Naked Gun” is back on August 1 in theaters everywhere — the rebooted Liam Neeson version that is. Paramount Pictures has released the theatrical trailer for the continuation of the series from which the similarly-named Leslie Nielsen mined box office gold.
In the new film, Neeson plays Lt. Frank Drebin, Jr., son of Nielsen’s Frank Drebin character. Along for the sure-to-be-wacky ride are Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Cch Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston. Written by Dan Gregor, Doug Maud, and Akiva Schaffer, the movie was directed by Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins.
Neeson is not known for playing comedy — although Nielsen wasn’t either prior to his straight-faced “Don’t Call Me Shirley” turn in 1980’s “Airplane!” Neeson told ComingSoon.com last year that he needed to prove his comedic chops.

One fan commented, “Obsessed Og Pam is back .”
“I love her either way but I’ve missed this Pam!!! ” another said.
Anderson debuted her no-makeup look in 2023 at Paris Fashion Week and hasn’t looked back. In an interview with Elle, she admitted that she decided to ditch makeup altogether after the death of her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, in 2019.

Roadside Attractions has dropped a trailer for Kiss of the Spider Woman, Bill Condon’s adaptation of the Broadway musical that stars Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna and Tonatiuh. The pic, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, was picked up soon after by Roadside, Lionsgate and Ld Entertainment and is set for a theatrical release October 10 in the awards-season corridor.
The stage musical, which was based on Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel that was turned into the 1985 movie starring Raul Julia and William Hurt, is set in military-run 1983 Argentina and centers on a pair of prison cellmates. Molina (Tonatiuh), a gay window dresser jailed for indecency, keeps up the spirts of political prisoner Valentin (Luna) by telling tales about his favorite musical actress, Ingrid Luna. The trailer shows off the stark difference between the prison and Luna’s Old Hollywood fantasy world as the two men begin to fall in love.

In a crowded field, Hulu is fast-becoming one of the must-have streaming services. 2025 has been a good year for Hulu subscribers, with Chloe Fineman's critically-acclaimed comedy "Summer of 69" dominating the streamer's charts in May and Best Picture winner "Anora" doing the same back in March. We've also seen Timothée Chalamet's Bob Dylan biopic "A Complete Unknown" rocking the Hulu rankings, while Pamela Anderson's overlooked 2024 drama "The Last Showgirl" finally found an audience on the platform in late May. Considering how often these charts get clogged with some of the worst examples of streaming-age sludge, that's a pretty good run for Disney's streamer, and now we've got yet another interesting and unique entry on the Hulu charts in the form of "Presence."
The big conceit of Steven Soderbergh's supernatural thriller is that it's shot entirely from the point of view of a ghost haunting a suburban family home.

Gia Coppola will be honored by Italy’s Filming Italy Sardegna festival where “The Last Showgirl” director will receive the event’s Women Power Excellence Award.
In a statement Tiziana Rocca – the marketing guru and current Taormina Film Festival chief who also heads the event in the Italian island of Sardinia – praised Coppola as a fresh voice in international auteur cinema who has been able to depict “with a unique and deep look the contradictions of the human soul and the transformations of contemporary society.”
“Her presence is a source of great pride for our festival and a tangible sign of the increasingly strong link between American cinema and our country,” Rocca added.
“The Last Showgirl,” which stars Pamela Anderson as Shelley, a veteran showgirl who finds herself at a crossroads with her stage production on its last legs, was released in Italy in April by Be Water Film in collaboration with Medusa Film.
