Pete and Maddie receive a phone call that changed their lives forever. The Hospital call them in for a meeting, to explain that their baby Theo was mixed up with David, the child of Miles and Lucy. The couples meet to discuss their next steps.

I have no prior knowledge of the story, it seems to have been in the works for ages, I'm glad it's finally on.

It's an impressive first episode, can you imagine being in this position, putting all your love and attention into someone, only to be told the object of your affection is someone else's child.

I can't imagine Miles playing nice for much longer, I'm sure he's going to be the one to change first, he's definitely the ticking timebomb. Pete is blissfully naive it seems.

Gorgeous visuals, they picked some amazing locations, it looks fabulous.

James Norton and co are excellent in this very well acted.

Itv have been promoting this for months so I had been eagerly awaiting it's arrival. I love Niamh Algar and James Norton was great in Rogue Agent and Happy Valley among many other things.

I read the book over Christmas and couldn't put it down so it got me even more eager to see it.

It has been moved from London to Cornwall so the views are great but it was filmed out of season so the weather looks just as stormy as psycho Miles.

Maybe these characters will grow on me but I was disappointed that it was the hospital that tells Pete and Maddie about the mix up.

One of the best parts of the book is Miles knocking on the door and telling Pete that he is Theo's dad and Pete thinks Maddie has had an affair with him.

It really does seem to be aimed at people with a low IQ. Pete is obviously, laid back Mr nice guy, Maddie the strong advocate of what's right, Miles the bipolar psycho and Lucy the weak, put upon wife but there is no depth to the characters for you find that out for yourself.

Mr Bates vs the post offices was it's first and best drama on itv last year. This needs to up its game if it is to carry the baton for this year's shows.
