The first time I saw Kim Basinger was 7 1/2 Weeks, and I loved it! She had these full lips and a sensual look, it wasn't even necessary to be too good of an actress. In the late decade I saw her again, sad, older, not really too demanding in her choices for roles in movies.
However, seeing her at "I am Here", I think she took a great leap. I think she accepted her maturity, and this role was just right for her, and she gave herself 100%.The rest of the cast is there only to make her shine. The exception is Jordan Prentice who interacted with her performance in many ways.
A woman in a desperate need to have a child in her life. She's successful, rich, married, but still empty. Slowly she becomes obsessed with this idea, after failing for ten years.
I would classify this movie as a thriller/horror, rather than just a drama. She hears a voice and follows it. Is she going mad or her nature is really calling even that it's already too late? The movie is complex and not for everyone, but I really enjoyed the dark tone and a little dark humor towards the end. What's the price to make a dream come true?

Well her character of course and not Ms. Basinger herself. There's also something very wrong about this movie. It's strange and kind of has a lot of flaws, but it's still mesmerizing and kind of takes the viewer on a journey if he/she embarks and embraces it. A very dark one that touches subject matters that are really mean and can be considered very bad indeed too.
But if you let yourself in (not that the characters seem to have any redeeming values or merits apart from the struggle they apparently and obviously are in), you will have a suspenseful movie to watch and appreciate with a magnificent performance by Kim Basinger and her co-star. The pace might be slow, but the impact can be perceived as strong nevertheless. Tough subject, tough movie

Great film. Magnificint acting by the two l ad characters..Kim basinger as Maria, and the character of Christian...both missing something in life,,both gatherd by fate and desperation, This thriller drama of European style... has many levels of meanings..not just the course of action on the surface...it has symbolism that's concluded at the very end of the film.... and the message is clear....i enjoyed it a lot...and i wonder why did it receive such a low rate...this film deserves 8 at least for the acting and the message behind it...artistic Well done..recommended
The 11th hour is a movie starring Kim Basinger as a female executive in a European shipping company. After a horrible miscarriage (her 8th in 10 years) which almost kills her, her doctor informs her she has to stop trying as it won't happen.
That could be grounds for an interesting drama of what a woman in those situations deals with. However, this movie goes another route, as Basinger's Maria discovers through work a child prostitution ring in a town he company's shipping routes go through. She then decides the most logical thing to do is to try and buy a baby from the prostitutes.
This movie is off the rails entirely. The acting works, but what they are given is complete drivel. There is no thought put into how she'll execute her plan, other than taking some money.
There are also scenes where an unborn baby is talking to Maria. If this happened only after the miscarriage, it would make sense as Maria coming unhinged, however, it happens from the first scene of the move.
The ending, however, is why I gave this one star. I was ready to give it 3 or 4, but the very end of the movie basically says it doesn't matter what happens to this woman, she got a baby and that makes everything ok. It's downright insulting.

Very irritating but had to watch what happened in the end...my ending would be that she stopped at the store for baby formula FIRST then hit the friggin' highway outta that town..take Christian with her..she moves to another country..put Christian in rehab and they all live happily ever after..Instant FAM!!
