I fall for Colonel Brandon every time....

As if I never saw/read this story before, it never fails to wrench my heart to watch the upstanding Brandon get overlooked. And it happened yet again.

It was a wonderful new way to see and hear this story, though. Like poor Brandon, I sort of dismissed the idea of a musical Austen thinking that it would be stodgy, trivial and trite. It was not. I was charmed by the whole thing. Very glad to have spent the time watching it with a new lens on classic and beloved story.

Alan Rickman remains the Brandon of my dreams--of course he's now on the wrong side of five and thirty, so I am making room for Sean Allen Krill now. He was superb.
