As a 30 year old male, I'm watching this for Lucy Hale. She's absolutely breath-taking and never fails a performance. Her character Nicole, promiscuous and selfish, is more believable than Max's character.
Max's social anxiety is a thoughtful trait, but his obsessive compulsive nature sort of is a buzzkill. We can see that Max is a recluse who avoids most human interaction, but was he always like that? We know he suffered a bad break up, but it's far fetch to think that causes a drastic personality change for 2 years. There's a gaping hole in his character development in that sense.
The dogs consummating a relationship was sweet. I just didn't feel the two lead actors had chemistry and their relationship lacked flavor and heart.
To tip the scales here, you needed humor. The veterinarian, Max's boss, the random park goer, and the guy with the accent were not funny at all.

I dont think this a likeable film. I watched because I typically adore films with pups, because I love my dog, but this didn't do it for me. The characters are equally annoying. I'm surprised to see how many people loved it. Not my kind of rom com, I guess. I'm happy others found joy in it though. They obviously worked hard on the project, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It has moments that are indeed "cute," as others have said, but the annoying outweighs the positive. I'm normally pretty easy to please. Not a movie buff by any means, but definitely a connoisseur and out of sheer "not wanting to be rude" because people worked hard on it, I gave it a 5-star review. Otherwise, I'd give it less.
I felt good watching this movie, I'm not so into rom-coms, but this one I wanted to give a try, because of the dogs . The duo cast was great with good chemistry, the dogs were super cute and it had many laughing moments as well.
The plot was like many we've seen in other movies but was writen nicely and the pace was just on point.
The movies discusses what we encounter in our society today, whay we have to do, to get out of comfort zone and the many aspects of our life when we make the responsible decision to adopt dogs and what it brings along with it.
I recommend this movie for anyone who's looking to have a fun time, on date night or chill afternoon etc.
7 stars out of 10 for me.

Lucy Hale is a phenomenal actress and I loved her in The Hating Game, which is how I know she can do romantic comedies. I also love dogs, but this rom-com was kind of a miss for me. I was surprised to see Jane Seymour and Michael Hitchcock in such a lightweight film.
This is the story of Nicole (Lucy Hale), a home stager wannabe artist who is kind of a hot mess. When she sees a stray dog outside of her apartment building, she takes him in...and takes him with her on a first "meet up" with Max, who she met on-line. Max is a germ-o-phobe shut in, who is on the verge of loosing his tech job because he just can't return to the office. These two are like oil and water...except they really aren't. The dogs, however, get along a little too well. When Max's dog ends up pregnant, these two have to put their differences aside in order to get along and be co-grandparents.
The actors were likable, the premise was decent...what really let me down was the writing. This lacked the tension of your typical hate to love (possibly my favorite romantic genre). If you really want to see a good example I recommend checking out The Hating Game, either way... I encourage you to give this a pass unless there is nothing else on.
My final observation, as a Seattle native, is that this film is definitely not set or filmed in Seattle. There are plenty of examples I can cite...the biggest two are that our local health ratings do not have an "A", they are excellent, good, etc. And a visual...that is definitely NOT Discovery Park, we don't have that kind of dessert in Seattle nor does it have a land mass view across the water.

A contrivance, but really lovely. Both leads leaned in to their characters' idiosyncrasies, and the story took its time. It's what you want it to be, has an indie feel, and a really great pace. I laughed pretty hard a couple times. If you like rom coms or dogs or just need an escape, I recommend it. (It's making me write more...). Well, I suppose I appreciated the fact that the characters were believable, and the story dealt with relatable issues, like depression, and anxiety and how difficult it can be to step out of your comfort zone or make friends when you're an adult. I hope the folks involved get more work when the SAG AGTRA strike is resolved. Ok, I've written enough.

- WissenswertesThis has two moments from Disney dog centric movies. First is both the two dogs sharing a spaghetti noodle, copying the scene from Lady & The Tramp. Second is when the dogs run around them pulling them closer on the front porch, copying the meet cute scene in 101 Dalmatians.
