Abdullah the Butcher: Legacy of Blood

This "Dark Side of the Ring" episode 7 from season 4 of the "Vice" channel series "Abdullah the Butcher: Legacy of Blood" was informative and a fun watch as it brought back memories. As a kid when I watched wrestling in the 80's I remember the blood, knives, and forks you would see in the ring when the Butcher wrestled foes, he was scary too with his facial expressions, and size Abdullah even brought more fear than "Kamala", "The Missing Link"," Kabuki", or "Bruiser Brody" even. The Butcher was one bad man, the episode supported showing all of the violence in the ring and gore footage. Interesting was the interviews with family telling of his poor and humble upbringing as the ring and blood was his escape to money, and he was a draw where ever he went as I saw him in many leagues like "AWA", "World Class", and "NWA". Seeing how he was a big star in Japan was informative as he became such an icon he was in Japan commercials, movies, and video games! Abdullah was to bad even for the "WWF" as the way he pushed the limits of violence and blood was to much for many. Also telling was how one cut with an up and coming wrestler would finish his 50 year career. Really again great super series and this episode is a must watch for any old wrestling fan and if "Abdullah the Butcher" was one of your favorite heel bad guys this is a must watch!
