The Housemaid

In general, the story was pretty good. It was a decent thriller with some jump, scare moments, some gruesome body stuff and a pretty good twist. It also reflected the realities of mental health and clingy relationships. I've heard some complain about the pacing towards the middle/end but in my opinion, the pacing was fine. It didn't feel drawn out and it ended exactly when it should've.

The characters themselves were pretty good. Sydney Sweeney did a decent job. She's not gonna win a Grammy for her performance, but she played her role well of the innocent but beautiful woman and has a good character arc.

I really did like how they used music and different camera angles to set a very tense tone.

Overall, it's in decent movie with some good tense moments and a pretty good story.

Millie (Sydney Sweeney) is hired by Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried) a rich social lite to is hired to be a housemaid, much of the surprise by her husband Andrew (Brandon Sklenar), but Millie will discover that in their household, nothing is quite what it seems.

Amanda Seyfried really surprised me here, for a while I never thought of her as much has an actress, but here she proved me wrong, really keeps you on edge. Sydney Sweeney is also good, has Millie, displaying such fear and confusing quite perfectly, I believe she's a better actress then she is giving credit. Brandon Sklenar is also great as Andrew. This movie has many twists you won't see coming, just when you think how it's going to end, it pulls the rug right out from under you. My mild complaint it drags a little in spots, but other than that a well made thriller.

As a huge fan of the book, the movie didn't disappoint me at all! The character portrayals were spot on. Especially Seyfrieds performance as Nina, hand her that Oscar already!!!

I still prefer the book. But the movie actually lived up to my expectations & maybe even more!

I think I actually prefer the ending of the movie over the ending of the book!

I don't understand why this is being underplayed. This movie was very very good. Acting, cinematography, direction, production...it was all superb. Amanda seyfried acted ridiculously well to me. Sidney Sweeney had an amazing role. The pace and development of the characters was great. Felt gripped the whole time. Bravo!

I listened to the audiobook summer of 2023 and was introduced to Freida McFadden. This movie follows the book extremely well and even though I couldn't remember every detail from the book, I recalled the main events. It's a decent movie and I appreciate its similarity to the book (probably because McFadden was an executive producer on this). Worth the watch!
