Barbie in 'Die verzauberten Ballettschuhe'

I sat down and watched this with my boyfriend's five year old niece and obviously wasn't expecting much of it, as I had my homework open in front of me. However, this film was very sweet, creative, entertaining, and actually did make a statement on the value of individuality and creative input. Just as this story was an adaption on the likes of Swan Lake, the main character put her own spin on the dances for the ballet, enhancing her own talent and ultimately winning over the rest of the characters with her sincerity and charm! How could one say this movie is pointless, when if she had chosen not to believe in herself the movie would have a boring and unfulfilling outcome? My boyfriend's niece was laughing her way through this film and rooting for the characters as the many turns of the plot kept her engaged-- and I found myself rooting with her. For all this movie portrays itself to be, I have no problem giving it 10/10.

I liked this film in many ways. First of all, the music! And the whole message behind it! Barbie always delivers beautiful messages, & this film is no exception!

When she slips on a pair of bright pink pointe shoes, Kristyn and her best friend Hailey are magically transported into the fantastical world of ballet. There, she discovers that she must dance with her heart in order to defeat the evil Snow Queen.

Cute mega colorful, predominantly pink tones, like all other Disney movies, mainly from the Barbie franchise, forced, charming and charming...

Wow I thought this movie was cheesy but it surprised me. The music, the dancing and the scenery. Also it has a good message and that kristyn doesn't have a romance which I liked as well and the dialogue is so funny.

Having recently watched other Barbie movies, this one was a breath of fresh air. The others that I've watched were all inspired more or less by The Prince and The Pauper. The story itself here isn't original, it's based on Swan Lake or something. From my previous statement, it should be apparent that I'm unfamiliar with the inspiration material, so for me it felt like I was watching something new. If you are familiar with the inspiration material, Swan Lake or whatever it's called, I suppose this movie wouldn't be all that surprising or enjoyable, unless maybe you're a little girl/the target audience. I'm neither a little girl and I'm most certainly not the target audience, but I enjoyed it. It wasn't another The Prince and The Pauper movie. The song/music video "This is who I am" brought me here. The most recent Barbie movie, Barbie Princess Adventure really shows how the animation has improved. The scenery in The Pink Shoes is incredible, IMO. The character animation, faces and movement seemed off here though. Again, you can really see how the animation of the characters has improved through the years, when you watch some of the newer movies.
