House of Abraham is thought-provoking and button-pushing at its finest.
Hassel's script and Belcher's direction keep the action moving forward even as the film takes its time building suspense through the excellent character building by each of the talented cast members.
Hassel's Abraham is chilling, manipulative and malignant - wrapped in a seductive shell of intelligent charm. Lin Shaye as Beatrice is a tour de force of subtle insanity.
While Belcher keeps the tension dialed up the film manages to score outside of the genre with it's handling of multiple sensitive subjects too often glossed over or ignored.
The script keeps you guessing until the very end. See it!

We saw this at the wonderful Kan Kan Theater in Indy last night July 19, 2025 at a showing with Producer Vance Hinton present for pre and post showing comments. The movie pulls you in, shocks you and then has a huge curve ball leading to a very satisfying ending. I'm not sure there is any movie I've ever seen to even compare it to. Mr. Hinton answered numerous post movie questions from the audience and he was very informative and humorous about how this independent movie came to be. That was a very nice bonus appreciated by all there ending in much applause for his comments. The movie is a 9/10 as it is so unique and powerful. Highly recommend.
I had the pleasure of seeing this film on a school trip and when I went did I did NOT expect a single thing which was amazing. The film was very nicely written and very amazingly shot. The characters were all very notable in their own ways and the dialogue felt very natural. Every single, actor and the characters they played kept me drawn in the whole time and holy moly THE PLOT TWISTS. The plot twists will have you jump out of your seat like "WHAT!" This movie also does a pretty good job with it's depictions of mental health and the battles people really go through. AMAZING FILM PLEASE WATCH.
Great movie with even greater performers. First of its kind horror film that left the movie theater wanting more!! Hoping for a part 2 with deeper context behind the origin story, there's so many directions that can possibly be explored in a 2nd part. The storyline gives you just enough detail to understand throughout the movie yet leaves enough space for questions and assumptions that are either confirmed or denied by series of plot twists that make total sense when it all comes together. An easy exciting watch that is very cleverly written and directed, highlighting modern day mental health misconceptions and stereotypes with perfect comedic relief & timing.
I saw House of Abraham last night and I woke up replaying some of the most chilling scenes in my head. I wasn't sure what to expect from the film, but boy it kept me riveted. Sublime performances, writing, and directing made for a creepy and haunting viewing experience I won't soon forget. I especially appreciated the spots of dark humor that helped break up the somber tone, and the off-the-rails performance from genre legend Lin Shaye as the suicide guru's evil henchwoman. And the plotting will keep you guessing as it twists and turns into unexpected directions. Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you gravitate towards the dark side, don't miss House of Abraham.
