This movie is a bad rehash of the first 3 movies With REALLY bad dialog, average actors (at best) no memorable events except for the ending - literally the last few minutes of the film (no spoiler here).
Whats Good: 1 they went with the old style full sets and it works , its been a long time since i felt i was looking at a real location somewhere out there in space. 2 The tried bringing star wars back.
Sadly , thats all the good i really want to scream at JJ for doing this to star wars.
Whats Bad:
1 Shallow back story - no immersion , people just pop up (Han solo). 2 Really bad dialog , i mean really bad , feels like a teen drama. 3 Forcing a female role for no reason ( i like good female roles) . 4 No new memorable characters , not a single one - i literally wanted to talk about the characters and found myself talking about han leia and sywalker again . 5 A bad guy that seems to have NO REASON to turn bad . 6 A bad guy that seems like he is a teen with a tantrum rather than an evil sith (a literal cry baby) . 7 The entire movie felt like they were trying to introduce as many new characters as fast as they can without telling us anything about them other than their name and occupation . 8 no sense in the plot:
- How is the republic destroyed in seconds . - Why are the rebels (resistance - sorry) are still rebels , they create the republic again . - Why don't they evacuate a planet about to be destroyed while attacking the "new order" planet killer (THERE IS NOTHING BLOCKADING THEIR PLANET). - HOW is an untrained uneducated (in the ways of the force) person (i don't care she is a girl) easily defeats a TRAINED Sith with ease?.
This entire movie feels like a teen flick , WHERE IS STAR WARS?.
to sum up : bad plot , bad writing and dialog , no back story or lore ,no sense in any of the core aspects , copied rehashed and generally bad.
i love star wars so for that reason alone im giving it a 4 (but it really deserves a 1).
With a story that's already been told, I was hoping the movie would take some time to develop the characters. But instead, everyone hugs/loves everyone right away while evil people are evil all the time and all the way. And why does the bad guy need to wear a mask?! I didn't see any breathing issue there.
A very long and boring movie. I give it 5 stars for the good casting of Rey, BB-8, the first 15 minutes and the fact that JJ Abrams won't be directing another Star Wars movie.
Disappointment is all, the story was perfectly finished, the character lines are logically closed, so why did you decide to continue again, introduce new characters, start a completely different story and somehow connect it with the original one? The answer is simple - popularity and money.
I really love the Star Wars franchise, which is why it hurts me to watch them ruin everything, starting with episode 7 and ending with the future 9th...
Moreover, this is not just a sequel, this is some kind of unsuccessful remake, in which they tried to repeat in a different form all the chips of the 4 part - and it turned out, to put it mildly, ridiculous and terrible...

- WissenswertesIn a real-life parallel to the film Fanboys (2009), Mark Hamill and John Boyega successfully lobbied director J.J. Abrams to allow Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood to see the film before official release, as Fleetwood had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and was not expected to live to see the film's release date of December 15, 2015. Fleetwood was shown the film at a screening in his house, after Disney agreed. Fleetwood died November 10, 2015.
- PatzerWhen Finn looks up at the sky while on Takodana, he observes the real time use of the First Order's Starkiller weapon, which is being used against a number of Republic Planets. Han also looks up and sees the planets' outlines in the sky. Given that this weapon was being fired from a different star system (with the star of that system providing the power), there is no way for Finn or Han to be able to observe light from the weapon in real time, as the light source would be many light years away. Also, they are supposedly in a different star system to that of the republic planets that were the target of the weapon, therefore there should have been nothing for our protagonists to see at all.

Han Solo: What was your job when you were based here?
Finn: Sanitation.
Han Solo: Sanitation? Then how do you know how to disable the shields?
Finn: I don't. I'm just here to get Rey.
Han Solo: People are counting on us. The galaxy is counting on us.
Finn: Solo, we'll figure it out. We'll use the Force.
Han Solo: That's not how the Force works!
- Crazy CreditsThe first "Thank You" credit (usually dedicated to benefactors of the film or to organizations or locations that gave permission for filming/technical advice/support) is dedicated to "The patient family and friends of the cast and crew."
- Alternative VersionenThe end credits music is slightly different on the Blu-Ray version of the film - we get to hear a bit more of Rey's theme than what we heard in the theatrical version.
