Agent Provocateur

When this movie was made as La Femme Nikita, it was far more exciting, alluring and entertaining. This Australian incarnation of the girl-raised-to-be-a-government-killer has an extra degree of geopolitical cynicism going for it. But Nikita thrived on the considerable bonuses of a stellar cast, tight direction, and an ostensibly much bigger budget. This one offers a fair dose of splatter, but precious little else of interest between those scenes.

Lots of gore. Same four guys, different masks. Run and gun. I almost hoped someone would shoot or stab HER for once; just to break the predictable monotony.

This is a rarity in film making.

I had no idea that a 4 year old can write and direct a feature film.

It's pretty decent for a pre-gradeschool student effort.

It's pretty amazaing that a 15 shot 9mm handgun can shoot well over 40 bullets without having to be reloaded.

It's also amzing that playing a C chord on a guitar will bring muitiple chords and rthyms when playing only at 1 strum and the singer can sing without making any words in time with what's being shown on screen.

It's pretty amazing as well that Alex can be tracked anywhere by simply looking at a camera beside a traffic light.

Maybe the producer should get his dog to write the next feature film.

Agent Provocateur (2012) tries to deliver a stylish spy thriller but ends up as a low-budget misfire fueled more by ego than storytelling. The plot is paper-thin, the characters flat, and the female roles are reduced to set dressing under a heavy-handed male gaze.

While the lead may be a real martial artist, this film proves that physical skill doesn't automatically translate into cinematic craft. The action is poorly edited, the direction lacks focus, and the overall production feels more like a vanity project than a cohesive film.

Unless you're watching for unintentional laughs or a case study in what not to do, this one's best avoided.
