This film is silly, and exaggerated, but if the movie critics knew what the movie was trying to point out, then they wouldn't have rated it as bad as they did. What this movie was trying to do was laugh at how hilariously idiotic some teen movies can actually be. With the main character, being a weird-o who would never be popular in real life, and the hippy chick who was all peace and happiness and all that jazz, with the crazy ex who is a complete biotch (who everyone loves anyways), and the dumb jock with a sever case of toxic masculinity. Everything about this film was made so perfectly to make fun of teen rom coms. If you or the critics can't see it then I feel bad for you. Cause your missing out.
This movies are recommended for those people who's seeking for the moral value and simple jokes. Its quite sad that this movie didnt get enough spotlight and advertisement
What the other reviews are neglecting to tell you, is that this film is satire. It is not meant to be taken seriously. Think of "Not Another Teen Movie", but slightly more grounded. It is silly and outrageous. But this is by design.
Eric Schultz is the most popular guy in school. Why? All thanks to "The A List", a social network that has him in the number one spot. Students and Faculty fawn over him in every manner. But, Eric comes to learn popularity isn't everything.
Once you realize this film is making fun of how much importance teens are giving technology, you can enjoy this film. The characters are stereotypes, but each lead is played well.
Above all, the film has a nice message, which is: put away the cell phone. Don't worry about labels. Be yourself.
This film is not award winning material, but it is entertaining enough if you and your friends can't agree on anything in their Netflix queue. Give it a try.

I thought it was a joke that the kid they chose was supposed to be "the popular one." The fawning girls and everyone caring about this one guy is of course an overplayed plot in movies but choosing someone who would actually be believable in that roll would have made it a tiny bit better.
His hair is so distracting I couldn't even take him seriously. He and his rag tag group of misfits would hardly be considered popular in the real world. The acting overall was cringe worthy, character development awful, and the whole plot is just ridiculous.
Don't waste your time.

The A-List captures the spirit of a "feel good" high school experience. The actors in this movie understand their characters and pull the viewer into the story. Hudson Thames (from the underrated Malibu Country) shines as the lead Eric Schultz. Elizabeth Bond is adorable as the quirky guidance counselor, Sylvia Martin. The character of Hannah Ford is portrayed with skill and finesse by the beautiful and talented Skyler Vallo (True Blood). It is pure entertainment to watch them weave a web of outrageous teenage angst.
Certainly, the director and writer pursued the production of this movie with passion. Hopefully if won't be overlooked and find the audience and following it deserves. The A-List is a "Disneyesque" style movie that hits the "quality" mark.
Watch this treasure in the making! You won't be sorry.

- PatzerIn the very beginning when the quarterback tells Sylvia he can't date her, he has light-colored eyes; when they show him in his later years as the father of the popular kid, he has dark-brown eyes.
