"Invincible" truly blew me away. It's astounding to see such a fresh and young talent like Vincent channel his own pain into such a powerful piece of storytelling. In half an hour, you're taken on this intense, emotional ride that you just don't want to end. The performances he's pulled from these young actors are nothing short of incredible-they're acting with a maturity way beyond their years, making you root for them every step of the way. The cinematography was clean, composed and rich making each shot and frame feel jam packed with the onscreen emotion. As a tragic story is based on real-life events, it that just makes it hit closer to home. This is one of those films that sticks with you, a perfect example of how grounded filmmaking, human stakes, and emotive storytelling can create such a moving experience. Definitely a must-watch if you're into beautifully told films that make you feel.
An exceptional work, executed with sensitivity, that delves into the psychological distress of an adolescent. Each moment intricately weaves a poignant narrative, vividly portraying the challenges and triumphs inherent to this phase of life. This creation transcends mere observation, immersing the viewer in a profound sea of emotions. It's more than a visual journey; it's a profound exploration of the complex human experience. A mesmerizing tapestry that captures the intricate nuances of emotion. To watch with discerning eyes and an open heart, as it unfolds a rich tapestry of the profound human condition.
Vincent René-Lortie's Academy Award-nominated "Invincible" tells the story of a youth incarcerated in a detention facility. Without a doubt, this boy has all sorts of problems, but he makes an effort to deal with his problems.
I guess that the main thing to take from this gritty short is that psychological distress damages people in ways that most of us can't imagine. We in the United States are so used to thinking of Canada as the land of no strife that a production like this will be like a brick to the face.
I wouldn't go so far as to call this short a masterpiece, but it still goes to show what you can accomplish with a good story and good acting. Available on Vimeo.

"Invincible" is a gripping and poignant exploration of the human spirit's desperate yearning for freedom, set against the stark backdrop of a rehabilitation center for troubled children. Directed by visionary filmmaker Vincent René-Lortie, this emotionally charged film takes audiences on a harrowing journey through the depths of despair and the elusive pursuit of liberty.
The protagonist, Marc, brilliantly portrayed by Leokim Beaumier Lépine, is a young soul trapped within the confines of a rehabilitation center, a place meant to heal but, in his case, becomes a prison of the mind. The film adeptly navigates the complexities of Marc's troubled past. The supporting cast, including the counselor and fellow patients, deliver standout performances, adding layers to the narrative and emphasizing the impact of institutionalization on vulnerable individuals. The relationships formed within the center reveal the subtle nuances of human connection, but ultimately underscore the profound isolation Marc feels.
Great job, hope that gets nominated.

I just watched on the theater, in fact the session shows some of Oscar nominated movies and this movie was in the list and the winner also "history of Henry Sugar"
The movie " invincible" is a drama from Canada and is inspired on a real history.
Most movies we want see is a successful person or a very bad person but when it's come to a normal person, it's annoying because we see around people with similar life.
So, this short movie can be resumed in a history of a spolied boy who can't accept any discipline and by committed a crime, went to the nice prision in Canada where they tried to help him but as any spoiled kid, scaped and killed himself. Well done, most spoiled criminal kids should follow his step for the goodness of society.
