This is a highly thrilling and cerebral mystery about a battle of wits filled with twists and turns . Mystery , intrigue about bizarre facts happen in a University when appears a killing corpse . The same team , actor (Ricardo Darin) and producers (Gerardo Herrero , Axel Kuschevatzky) , who made ¨The secret in your eyes¨ bring us another suspenseful film , "Thesis on a Homicide" or ¨Tesis Sobre Un Homicidio¨ . The picture is exciting and some moment brilliant , and the actors are quite reliable such as Ricardo Darin and Albert Hammann . It deals with Roberto Bermudez (Ricardo Darin) , a specialist in criminal law, is convinced that one of his students secretly dreams of executing the perfect crime . He is named Gonzalo Ruiz Cordera (Alberto Ammann) and Roberto thinks he committed a brutal murder . It leads him to start an investigation that becomes his obsession .
The film contains tension , thriller , drama , mystery , plot twists and including decent scares with tense sequences especially in its final part , in a unexpected denouement , near of the end . Hitchcock-style psychological thriller , being surprisingly good and compellingly realized . The original as well as entertaining idea is overspread throughout the movie , but not totally satisfactory , including conventional pitfalls . The main cast is frankly fine , such as Ricardo Darin as a retired lawyer working as a criminology professor obsessed with chasing a supposed killer and Alberto Ammann as a young lawyer who bears a dark past ; besides , a gorgeous Calu Rivero as victim's sister . Darin is an excellent leading figure of the most important Argentinian movies such as : "El Faro" (1998), "El Mismo Amor La Misma Lluvia" (1999), "Nueve Reinas" (2000), "La Fuga" (2001) and especially known for ¨The secret in your eyes¨ and ¨El Hijo De La Novia¨ . Albert Ammann also starred several hits as Spanish cinema as Argentinian one , such as : ¨Eva¨, ¨Lope¨ , ¨Invasor¨ , ¨Combustion¨, among others , being especially known for ¨Cell 211¨ or ¨Celda 211¨ . The motion picture is pretty well , although sometimes stagy , overlong and slow moving ; however is entertaining for continuous suspense . Sinister and mysterious atmosphere plenty of lights and shades , it is finely photographed by cameraman Rolo Pulpeiro . Suspenseful and stirring musical score by Sergio Moure who previously composed successful films as ¨Unconscious¨ and being expert on frightening atmosphere such as ¨El Cuerpo" and ¨Kidnapped¨ .
The film was well produced by various producers as Gerardo Herrero , Axel Kuschevatzky , Alfredo Odorisio , Vanessa Ragone ; all of them have produced a lot of successes in the new Argentinian and Spanish cinema . Being professionally written Patricio Vega and well directed by Hernán Golfrid who formerly realized only one movie titled "Music on Hold" or ¨Musica en espera¨. The flick will appeal to suspense enthusiasts and Ricardo Darin fans . Rating : 6.5/10 Good , better than average . It's well worth watching and contains some really thrilling scenes and intriguing images .

Excellent film with a unique atmosphere of mystery and suspense centered on a murder that challenges a law professor to prove the guilt of what he considers a suspect. The acting of Ricardo Darin is awesome. Interesting, intelligent, focused on the role of justice and the ethics of laws, made by power for power (reminds me of something from Marx) but questions whether the truth is also the truth. A game of cat and mouse between a smart law professor with instincts and a law student with intelligence and challenge, on the subject of "crime". The showdown and the embroidery dialogues. The end !!.... and the journey are worth it.
I read many reviews before seeing "Tesis...", some of which were talking about this film with Ricardo Darin was at the level of "The Secret in Their Eyes".
Far from being a bad movie, we can say that is far from "The Secret in Their Eyes", perhaps one of the best productions of the Argentina film history.
In "Tesis ...", the cinematography was maintained to the end. However, the Director forgot to give empathy and action to the story and he focused exclusively on achieving good levels to the camera, which in itself is very good for Argentine cinema, but does not help you achieve a good movie in the balance sheet.
The lack of pace of the scenes, added to the "slow motion" soundtrack, with excesses in the silence of the main characters, made a frame interesting in itself, become monotonous and boring.
I repeat: it is not a bad movie, but it is too far from a "The Secret in Their Eyes".

Tesis sobre um homicidio is alright, but a few missed points have it in the "so-so" category. Some might like it, some might not.
This movie tells the story of Roberto Bermudéz, a specialist on criminal law and professor at a Law Univesity, which suspects that one of his students committed a murder and is taunting him to discover the truth. Determined to win this game, Roberto investigates the crime on his own, putting in danger his life and the life of what seems to be the murderers next victim.
Tesis sobre um homicidio is a well-designed thriller. It's not over the top, nor it has action scenes. The movie is about the obsession of Roberto in solving the murder case, and how far he is willing to go to do it.
The acting is a bit off, though. Some scenes feel scripted, with the characters clearly acting unnatural. A detractor, but we can get over it.
We explore Roberto's mental condition throughout the storyline. As the movie progresses, we are faced with the ultimate question: is Roberto just seeing what he wants to see, or is his suspicion real?
An answer that culminates into the climax and ending revelation. I read that some people thought the revelation was a let down, but I found it to be fitting for the story as a whole. Sometimes, it's about the logical story point, not what we want.
Then, again, the lack of a better explanation of the whole thesis a let-down. That would have been a nice touch.
Tesis sobre um homicio has all elements that a thriller should have. With the conclusion being the only doubt point, depending on perspective, I say this movie is fair game if you want to watch a foreign-made crime story.

Thesis on a Homicide is a taut thriller about a cat-and-mouse game between a former lawyer and a young man he believes is a murderer. The question throughout the film remains whether he is right in his assumptions or if he's jumping to conclusions. I love that element of mystery that is woven throughout the film. It moved in ways that I kind of expected, but it still felt exciting. For instance, you could see certain moments where it appeared the blame would shift from one character to another, but I was looking at it with a bit of dread anticipating that horrible possibility. It's easy to love a protagonist played by Ricardo Darin, even when he's a bit stoic and quiet like we see in this film. You want to see him come out on top even when he makes some ill-advised decisions. But he's just a little abnormal, so you still question whether you should be trusting him.
The most frustrating and disheartening part of Thesis on a Homicide is the lack of a proper conclusion. You can see the kind of dramatic cliffhanger they want to leave you on, so there's this level of suspense even in the final moments. However, it didn't work well for me. There's something about the way they deliver the last scenes that made me annoyed rather than satisfied. It's like the movie just stops rather than ends. Otherwise, I was fully on board for the entire mystery. It was a great thriller that has a nice slow burn that keeps the tension ratcheting up throughout. You keep waiting for the big shocker or surprise reveal, but they maintained a level of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. Perhaps on rewatch the end will sit better with me, but for now I find Thesis on a Homicide to be good but not one of Darin's greatest films.
