Fight Another Day

I honestly had a blast watching Fight Another Day! It totally captures that throwback action movie vibe with a fun sci-fi twist that keeps things interesting. The concept of a cop trapped in a dystopian future, forced to fight his way home through brutal tournaments, had me hooked. The fight scenes were well-choreographed and packed with energy, and seeing legends like Chuck Liddell, Ken Shamrock, Jim Belushi and Martin Kove, in the mix was awesome. A total throwback to 80s action - it just wants to entertain, and it absolutely delivers. If you're into retro-style action with a bit of heart, this one's a must-watch.

Performance-wise, the lead anchors the story effectively. He's believable in the role and carries the weight of the situation without overdoing it. The supporting cast adds some colour without pulling focus, keeping the attention where it belongs.

It's a film that knows its lane and stays in it-lean, direct, and entertaining. While it doesn't rely on flash or big spectacle, it holds your attention and delivers a steady dose of tension and energy. A solid Friday night watch, especially with a few friends and some snacks. If you're in the mood for something straightforward and action-driven, this fits the bill.

The film is about a tough cop, who after his death in the line of duty, is transported to a dystopian future, and brought back to life so he can enter a deadly combat tournament against many others who have died and been sent to the future.

Far from being futuristic, this has a solid feel of a badly done 70's film. The idea is OK I guess, but the sets and videography are very much in the vibe of the 70's, with some, frankly, pathetic attempts to pretend to be in the future, such as silly lipstick styles.

The dialogue is below par for a B movie, and the acting is on point for a B movie. There are some incredibly cringe moments in it where I actually scrunched up in my seat, in embarrassment at the editor allowing such a scene to be put out there.

It's sort of like Death Race 2000 without cars. I guess the idea could be good if Hollywood worked it's magic on it but as it stands it's actually quite a pathetic and sad film.

I gave it 2 and that's because I felt sorry for it.
