From It-lee! Directed by giovanni bognetti. When the two children (alessandra and emilio) move out, the parents (carlo and amelia) have empty nest syndrome. They are missing the children, who never call and seem to have forgotten the parentals. But we see that the parents are equally at fault. The running gag where emilio keeps getting accidentally beat up gets old. When a relative tells the kids the parents have come into money, they show up at the parents' house. To make it all look real, the parentals buy fancy clothes and rent fancy cars. And pretend to give huge donations to silly organizations. Which the kids resent, of course. When the parents finally decide to tell the kids there is no big inheritance, they even lie about that. It's pretty good! The ending is a bit over the top, but it is a family farce. I fear that some of the humor was lost in translation. The translation in subtitles into english was actually very well done. The opening credits say this is based on the french film "mes tres chers enfants", by alexandra leclere. That film is called "the price of parenting" in some countries. It's good, lightweight stuff. Nothing too serious.
If you want to laugh from the heart like you used to in the good old days, you must watch this effortless comedic masterpiece! If you want to reminisce about the best moments with your family, your father, your mother, and those holiday nights when the whole family came together, then this movie is a must-see.
The film is free of any complications or forced humor-the characters are alive, just like they're part of our own family. Carlo, Emilio, Ali, and Anna were all so naturally funny, and the dialogue flows effortlessly.
It offers a sharp critique of the reality we can't escape from-the truth that life has separated us, forcing us to distance ourselves from the people we love most, all for the sake of money, success, and fame at the expense of the most beautiful thing in the world: family!

I loved the movie. It's unpredictable, funny, and a little sad. It tells a story about parents and older children and how poor communication and some expectations can create adventures. Great family movie.
Another aspect is the Italy. Loved the Italian language, the dynamic, the environment and of course the outfits. All the characters played their roles effortlessly. As a North American it's was interesting for me to see the work culture in Italy and some similarities and differences. Overall, I think this movie opens a dialogue between generations so if you are a parent and you don't know how to tell your older kids that you miss them, ask them to watch this movie. I loved it!

This movie from Italy comes with a very childish script. The premise based on "empty nesters" trying to get their adult children to remain involved in their lives. They concoct a story to do this but it spirals out of control. The pace is slow, and the plot a bit thin on the ground. After a while, the movie seems to go nowhere and interest is lost. The acting seems forced and it perhaps is more geared to a local target audience in its country or origin rather than aiming for global appeal. The humor does not translate well. Discontinued watching half way through the film as it really did not hold interest.
It's a charming, unpretentious Italian comedy.
Storyline attracted my attention. Parents feeling left out by their adult children.
Parents want to see them more regularly, spend time together.
Adult children focusing on their lives.
So parents devise a scheme based on a big lie to lure their adult children to come and visit the parents.
Casting is very good .
It's only after watching the movie that I then read it's a remake of a French movie... remakes are usually notoriously never as good as the original.
Without seeing the original french version, I don't know.
However, I did enjoy this movie as a light comedy.
