Don't usually appreciate orgy scenes because they usually suffer from the tendency to constantly change camera perspectives, and who is being focused on.

But the orgy that is the concluding scene of "Girlfriend" is hot with a CAPITAL H! Actually, it raises the flick to a 9, all on its own.

It's nice to see an erotic movie where the director and cameraman can settle down and not resort to a quick MTV type of cutting style just because they are filming more than one couple.

This movie provides evidence that the director really knew what he was doing.

Paul Thomas hides behind one of his pseudonyms "Cleo Edwards" for this VIvid Video junker, very poor filmmaking. I suppose an apologist would call it "experimental".

The hodge-podge of scenes is slapped together, with little attention to continuity or storytelling. Most of it makes no sense, and merely falls back on the usual porno excuse of explicit sex "is everything". Adding insult, much of the footage is presented in a sort of stutter-editing quasi-slow motion, to indicate a fantasy but merely making it hard to watch.

Central story premise is obvious: married couple Randy Spears and Janine are having big problems: he's clearly been cheating on her, and in desperation she picks up beauty Raquel Darrian on the street one night and takes her home, infiuriating Spears, Mr. Male chauvinist pig.

Surrounding this material, which is worth about a 10-minute short in terms of story content, is arbitrarily inserted sex scenes, including BDSM lite footage shot at a warehouse sex brothel were presumably Raquel works. Corinne Williams upstages the two superstars, looking great in latex and nurse's costume in either fantasy or flashback scenes with Spears. Characters like Derrick Lane (Raquel's really hubby) pop up out of nowhere, and everyone drops their character motivations to join in a lengthy kinky orgy in the living room to thankfully put an end to this nonsense.

Liza Harper is wasted in a brothel scene with Derek, while uncredited Emily Jewel is a dominatrix flogging some unidentified actor.
