maybe not convincing. but beautiful, well acted, full of seductive cinematography, a romantic story about honor and love, about ambition of great powers to build colonial empires and about religion in a free manner. it is not different by many other French historical films . same mixture of national proud and noble ideals, about good savage and cruel enemy, about forbidden love stories and happy solutions. its virtue - it is a beautiful film. Stellan Skarsgard does an admirable job exploring the possibilities of his role . the young actors are good in the translation of the image about the yearly age of period. in fact, it is a film of colors. the colors of emotions and the colors of nature. sentimental, heroic and hopeful.

Aware, that he had seen nothing kind, even coming from a fictional and historical mix, because at the time there was only slavery alternating with the decimation of native indigenous peoples, sad to remember, but important never to forget... Just and Colombe are the fictional characters in the book, amidst the characters and historical facts, very well produced, represented and presented, reporting the French expedition that tried to create a colony, and that did not succeed... Very good...
